Still tidying and sorting out from the PRA FUNd Raising weekend and there are some wildflowers left. These are packets of pure wildflower seeds that will cover 3-5 metres, are a mere pound each and that includes postage.
Also we have stuff left that we haven’t a clue who it belongs to. We know we put the word out for chairs, tables and anything else that might be useful and all obliged but it has now left us with an excess! So next time you go to get your picnic chairs/best knife or whatever and can’t find it ask yourself one question………did you take it to the PRA FUNd Raiser and have you seen it since?
It was East of England Championship Show yesterday and we kept seeing people who had been at the weekend and everybody said how much they had enjoyed it. It is good to know all the hard work was appreciated. The number cruching is still going on so DON’T FORGET THE EBAY AUCTIONS….which only have 48 hours left to run.
- The Penine Bernese Carters
The Penine Bernese Carters were greatly admired by everybody who saw them parade around the field. Professor Bedford temporarily for got he was an “eye man” and just had to have a little go!
Could we do it? Yes, we could!!! Months of preparation and cajoling for the PRA FUNd Raising Event finally happened and even the weather God approved of the effort….the sun shone! So much happened. It’s too early to say how much was raised but everybody there said how much they had enjoyed themselves. When brains and legs have recovered and the tidying up done it’ll be reported on.
Oh yes, all Glen of Imaal Terriers eye tested came through with flying colours
At the moment it isn’t raining and the forecast for Sunday is (say it quietly) no rain so maybe the weather Gods have heard us. Things are looking ready so all we need is you………and if you can’t come but want to support there is another six days of the ebay auction and silent bids on the Millenium Clock are allowed until tomorrow afternoon but remember they will have to be done by telephone. We shall be too busy to cheque the computer
Oh yes and if you are coming for the eyetesting don’t forget the dog’s KC registration certificate
….and up to yet the weather Gods are still not being very kind but we are always hopeful. We must be if we arrange a FUNd Raising event outdoors in the UK!
The cakes are arriving for the cake stall and we have enough books to start our own branch library. At the last count there were 55 prizes for the raffle and the Good Citizen stuff has arrived from the Kennel Club. The bales have been sourced for the go-to-ground and the tape is ready to section areas of the field off.
It’s less than 48 hours until the PRA FUNd Raising Weekend begins. Some people have already started arriving to help set up. The field has had its final cut and the toilets have arrived. The marquees are here (not up yet though) and the car park signs are made. Slo-cookers and crock pots are sitting ready to begin the food for Saturday’s Soiree and Big George is ready to march into action for Sunday breakfast.
All we need now is the weather God not to be too vengeful!
“Is it okay if we send a donation?” There is only one reply to that, yes please……and we’ll stick your name on some raffle tickets. We obviously hope that everybody will come sometime over the weekend but this is a PRA FUNd raiser so any contribution to the raising of those funds is very welcome and we’re glad you are thinking of us.
With everything being so busy with the PRA FUNd Raising Weekend some other things have got very neglected……no mention of shows for ages!
We now have a second dog Champion as Tommy got made up at South Wales and even though the World Show is in Stockholm, Sweden we do have a connection!! Paul Eardley, the judge of the Companion Show NEXT SUNDAY, officiated at one of the Terrier Specialities and judged Glen of Imaals and remember Homer of Crufts (look back at March 10th to see his photograph) ? He was over and added Swedish Champion to his title list via one show and then took the breed at the actual World Show so is now WW08 as well!
The Kennel Club are currently running a campaign entitled “Fit For Function-Fit For Life”. In other words can your dog actually do anything other than sit as a heaped couch potato? The PRA FUNd Raising Weekend will give you lots of things to try with your dog and as we keep saying, not just for Glen of Imaal Terriers! Besides the Companion Show there will be agility, go to ground and lure work. Go on, come and give it a go!
