It’s a biggie!!

Remember to check the paper in the printer before printing out this list. Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still doing the breed proud with their take up of the DNA testing and their wish to make the results public!

Darlington Critique

Puppy Dog. 1) Romainville Brannigan at Brockland. 10 months and a very good one to start off with, quite mature for age with good bone & substance, nicely headed dog, good double coat coming through, well presented, correct front, good topline, nice tail, very promising. Best Puppy.

Post Graduate Dog 1) Jeonty Wannabe Bauer, very much my type, nice proportions, good head, nice ears, lovely mouth. Just wish he would put a bit more into his showing. 2) Jeonty Highlander Boy, litter brother & along similar lines, good headed, shows well. Not quite the proportions of his brother, a touch narrowere behind but very typy.

Limit Dog 1) Johnny Be Good at Romainville. Beautifully presented young man & a sound moving boy, good head, lovely outline. Could do with a little more substnace & was playing his handler up which pegged him for the Res CC. RBD. 2) Romainville Typhoon. Better for substance than one and a nice moving boy. Coat could be tidier but a good sort.

Open Dog 1) Ch/Int Ch Brockland Brayhead Lad. Alone and could have coped with competition. Glens are slow maturers and good lasters & he exemplifies this as I have judged him at various stages of development and he is now absolutely at the top of his game. Cracking head, just right for substance, lovely proportions, correct topline, coat spot on, well presented, well handled & showed to advantage. CC & BOB & I am sure more will come his way.

Limit Bitch 1) Jeonty Maybe Daysee, feminine but with substance. Coat a bit in-between. Nicely headed, when settled nice movement & good tail. At 2 years old is a bit at the in-between stage. RBB

Open Bitch 1) Brockland Belle Bregorrey, litter sister to BOB & similar type. Another who has matured since I last judged her, good bloom, another nicely headed exhibit, assertive, good outline, good tail, correct front. Touch narrow behind, is clearly capable of gaining her title. BB & RCC

Quite a Weekend!

What a weekend Glen of Imaal Terrier people have just been experienced!

In the UK Romainville Miss Moneypenny got her 3rd CC at South Wales Kennel Association and became the latest Bitch Champion. Best Dog there was Amhard Freebooter with Romainville Ellie taking Best Puppy. In Finland Gleann Queen Size Girl got her last CAC to become a Finnish Champion. Best of Breed at that show was Mudmax Muddy Waters. Sweden saw a very successful weekend for the MacNally Kennel woth Mac Nally Donelee taking Best of Breed one day and Mac Nally Dougal and MacNally Deidre both getting their Swedish Championships.

America saw the big Montgomery Cluster weekend that this year was made even more special by the inclusion of Morris & Essex. This show is only held every 5 years and is a throw back to the days of “proper”. Hats are worn and outfits are encouraged. There are exhibitions of memorablilia and it is considered a show so very worth a visit. Already it is possible to do so online. It was a superb weekend for Ch Coleraines Mandalay Royalty as she took Best of Breed at three out of the four shows and was Best Opposite Sex at Montgomery. At Montgomery Ch Rainbow Springs Dermot showed how some Glens just get better and better as he took Best of Breed at 10 years of age (after taking BOS at Morris and Essex and Hatboro). At Devon Ch Daulton’s Hunter Green was Best Opposite. There were new Champions and Grand Champions made and the whole weekend took place in very dog showing suitable weather to boot.

So just WHAT is it about?

The DNA PRA Lists that so many Glen of Imaal Terrier people around the world contribute to only happen because of the work by Bochum in Germany and Cornell in the United States. The “head honchos” of both organisations have now delivered presentations to breed enthusiasts and, if interested, anybody can now have the story of how the Adam 9 gene mutation was discovered. The talk by Dr Acland is available from Susan Blum susan.blum@valley.net . The cost is 10 dollars if in the US but it can be sent worldwide. The Prof. Epplen talk is on the EFG website.

And still they come…

A “congratulations” weekend

A warm congratulations are extended to all the Glen of Imaal Terrier Winners in America, Slovenia, the UK and anywhere else that didn’t send their results!

In the States the Terrier Club of Michigan Cluster is the last big Terrier event before Montgomery and entries are always good. Best of Breed on all three days was Gr. Ch. Coleraine’s Mandalay Royalty who was short-listed in the group on two days and was pulled in Group 2 on the third.

The European Winner’s Show in Slovenia saw Irish Rover’s Sir Brendan Behan being awarded with the 2010 title.

Darlington had Ir Ch Abberann Eilish at Kirikee get the nod for Best of Breed from Amhard Freebooter.
