Last night there was a call from a Glen of Imaal Terrier owner who had just read their local paper: Glen of Imaal/Border puppies and the “boast” was that they had been bred for temperament and health. Shall we all join together here…….is it me?
How can a cross breed litter (from two breeds with rather different characters) be bred for temperament? And what exactly is the health aspect? The breeding of the Glen dam is known and there isn’t a lot of eye testing in her pedigree i.e. non so maybe they mean there won’t be CRD3 problems but what about the problems of crossing an achrondraplasic breed with a non achondraplasic? How about the different bone, form and structure coming out if the bitch puppies are bred on? Not a litter for the unwary perhaps
