Heck, how can anybody (or thing) take the sole award of star of the day? In showing terms it was Mrs Kerry’s Kireria (Cocker Spaniel) who was Best In Show and Megan Cooper’s Abby (Tibetan Terrier) who was Best Puppy but that doesn’t count the endless people who took home their first ever rosettes in the novelty classes. The people who manned stalls-as well as setting them up-and smiled all the time in the heat. The refreshment people who cheerfully barbecued in the heat or sat in a very warm tent taking entries. How about the ring stewards or the car parker? The eye test people or the photographer? The folk who came to support a good cause on the hottest day of the year? The tent erecting and taking down all needed people so are they the stars? How about crossing the country to support or even coming home early from a holiday in Italy? Even the superb cake made by Nicki, to celebrate the EFG becoming fully registered, could have a claim to stardom as it posed willingly for photographs but that would cut out the glorious deserts made by Roberta and Yvonne. So let’s just make it a day of stars and have a group hug of congratulations. Well done and thank you all!!
