Let’s celebrate the beginning of May…

…with the success of Glen of Imaal Terriers. After the last couple of weeks it’s great to record two more entering the brains and beauty brigade with “back end” titles. Monroe tried earthdog and qualified twice in Intro to Quarry and Daisy qualified in IQ, Senior and then the Senior title was hers!

On the showing front at Crawford County KC GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton was BOB at both shows and collected Group 4 both days also. First report (I think) from a West Virginia show and at the Mountaineer KC GCH Daulton Emerald Green took him the big ribbon with Daulton’s Clancy of Galore Best Opposite. At Tampere Finland BOB went to Gleann Una Noonan with Gleann BigWig Best Dog. A weekend of showing in Ireland with Fermoy & South Tipperary, Ch Abberann Phelan was BOB both days with Ch Abberann Dervla Best Bitch on Sunday & Daultons Midnight Sky of Galore Saturday which makes her up subject to IKC ratification. Well done everybody!!

  1. A question why do the Americans get dressed up lik a dogs dinner to show dogs?

  2. Same reason hunter riders, fox hunters and show jumpers get kitted up in their show coats, polish their best boots, wear beautiful stock ties, etc to show respect for the sport and tradition of showing.

  3. Maybe the question should be why we don’t dress up!!??

I personally think when you see the guys at shows like Westminster, all looking very dapper in their finery that it looks great. No point in having a stunning dog on the end of the lead and letting it down by your own dress.

Yes the judge is judging the dog, but you owe it to the dog to show yourself off as best as you can too ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Steve, I’ve squinted at Jody very hard and she doesn’t seem to have any diamonds anywhere that can be seen. A smart blue suit of a very flattering colour isn’t ostentatious. If you really wanted to see something you should have been around the season of my “jacket of lights”

  5. Dog shows are just that – show business. In the States, it would be considered disrespectful to the judge to show up in dirty shoes, torn jeans, and t-shirts. I have noticed that those in the Group ring in the UK and abroad are almost always dressed quite well.

  6. I just think that like if you show livestock sheep, cattle, pigs etc you simply wear a white coat over ordinary clothes in the UK and Eire,Surely its the animal that your looking at ? Show business? i thought it was fun a hobby? Ive seen people at the few shows i go to start to dress up cant see the point.

  7. At South Tipp Show (Sat) Daultons Midnight Sky of Galore was Best Bitch & Res. BOB. She in now Irish Champion ( subject to IKC )
