SKC (May) critique

The judge apologises for the late appearance. He sent his critiques out on one Word document and was not aware that the Glen of Imaal part had been missed.

Thank you to the Glen exhibitors for a decent entry. Type is a bit mixed at present which presented me with a few difficult decisions. Heads in particular concerned me.

Class 1141 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: ALSTEAD Dr J Golden Spurs –very promising as he is such a good type. Cracking head on this youngster and as it turned out he possessed one of the best heads of the day with lovely ears. Good outline and moved ok in all directions. In this slow maturing breed there is much better to come if he develops as he is doing. Res CC which he won on his lovely breed type.

2nd: ROGERS Mrs C J Gleann Dynamo Man At Jeonty (Fin Imp) NAF TAF –a real baby as just 6 months old and giving loads away in a junior class. He has a super temperament with great attitude, lovely bone, the makings of a good head and moved well. Hopefully he will continue to develop along these lines. Best puppy.

Class 1143 LD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: HARDY Mr & Mrs M L & A Amard High Flyer –I liked this one a lot, he has matured well with lovely substance but not coarse. He had character and was interested in everything around him, good coat texture and quality, moved well. Could well make up if he continues along these lines.
Class 1144 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: GEORGE, Mrs K A & SULLIVAN Miss N C Romainville Billy Whizz-eyecatching dog as he has a good outline with all the substance and power that one needs in a Glen. He was lovely to go over on the table and was well presented and handled. Moved assertively and generally looked the finished package. I awarded him a Res CC as a young dog and I am pleased to see that he has more than fulfilled my expectations. CC and BOB. He is definitely the dog on form.

2nd: ROGERS Mrs C J Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty-nice type but even at 3 still has some maturing to do as he still looks a touch up on the leg. Hopefully there is more development to come. Good headed dog. One for the future.
Class 1145 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HADLEY Mr A C & Mrs D M T Donvaleset Rebus-8 years old and at his peak. Nice outline, ok in head and a good mover. Under the coat there is actually a very nice dog who moves well and with different presentation he could be a contender.
Class 1146 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HARDY, Mrs A & TUNE Mrs J Amhard Jeez Louise-10 months and lots to like about this one. Good coat and condition, nice outline, lovely tail and moved well. I shall keep an eye on her.

2nd: GEORGE, Mrs K A & SULLIVAN Miss N C Romainville Maggie May- decent sort who was a bit in between coats and a bit reserved. Nice to go over but is quite weak behind which detracts.

Class 1147 PGB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: GEORGE, Mrs K A & SULLIVAN Miss N C Romainville Fade To Grey-standing looks a good sort with nice neck and shoulders, not cooperating fully but handler got the best out of her, good presentation. A bit plain in head.

2nd: HARDY Mr & Mrs M L & A Amhard Indy Kate- not the most glamorous but there were things I preferred on this one. A difficult decision.
Class 1148 LB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

Interesting contest between these two. 1st: SEALL Mrs A Bregorrey Madam Defiance- very much my sort of head and was pleasing all over, moved well up and back, could do with a bit more substance.

2nd: BALDOCK Mrs B J Ellerton Dusky Beauty –better substance on this one and she had plenty of attitude. However she did not quite have the head of the winner and could not match her movement.

Class 1149 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HARLEY Mr D & Mrs V Ch Donvaleset Brier-steady and mature, nice outline, good coat, moved well up and back and well presented. Head is a bit strong for me. Res CC.

2nd: BALDOCK Mrs B J Ch Jeonty Maybe Daysee-nice solid girl, ok in head, a bit untidy up and back.

3rd: SEALL Mrs A Bregorrey Lady Belleisle

Class 1150 VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: SEALL Mrs A Ch Brockland Belle Bregorrey-very much my type, lovely headed girl, good neck and outline, feminine but still workmanlike, moved well and demonstrated how well Glens can last. Was pleased to award her the CC.
