Association Championship Show

The Glen of Imaal Terrier Association Championship Show is a chance for the many companion owners to bring their dogs to meet “the family” and possibly have a go in the ring and this year was no exception. Always nice to meet and talk to Glen enthusiasts that aren’t often seen. Judge Pat Clayton was awarding her first set of Challenge certificates in the breed and she finished off the Top Glen of the Year, Ch Romainville Billy Wizz, in fine style with the dog ticket and Best In Show. Reserve Best In Show, Best Veteran and Reserve CC was awarded to Ch Beatrix’s Boy with Windarra from Donvaleset who was not looking his ten years. Best Opposite Sex and the Bitch CC also went to a Veteran, 7 year old Ch Donvaleset Brier. The Reserve Bitch CC, Ch Jeonty MeMe Fern, headed a family affair as she was the dam of both the Best Puppy in Show, Jeonty Diamond Ring, and the Best Puppy Bitch Jeonty Minie MeMe.

Congratulations to everybody and well done to the catering team for a fabulous chocolate cake! Secretary Ann Hardy wasn’t at the show as she broke her leg the previous Sunday. It’ll be a long road back for her but everybody sends their best wishes for recovery

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES – REGULATION AMENDMENT

The Kennel Club General Committee recently reviewed Regulation F(1)9.b. regarding the closing date of entries, and has made the following amendment which will come into effect on 1st January 2016. Consequently shows are now permitted to close entries up until seven days before the show opens.

Regulation F(1)9.b

‘Entries for a Show must close at the time indicated in the Schedule and at the latest on the (edited to remove ‘fourteenth’) seventh day before the show opens.’

(Deletion struck through, addition in bold)

When reviewing the regulation, the General Committee noted that the wording had not been updated for a number of years and agreed that, with advancements in technology and the addition of online entries, in some instances it would now be possible for show societies to process entries within a shorter time frame to that which had previously been permitted.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “Whilst it is recognised that not all show societies and their associated printers will be able to offer a later closing date, the General Committee felt it was important that the facility was made available to those who could operate on a later deadline and who believe it may be of benefit to their show.

“It is hoped that the amendment to the regulation will particularly assist smaller shows to attract a greater entry, by allowing exhibitors to enter at a later stage and encouraging entries to the show that societies may not have otherwise received.”

Show societies are advised that the Kennel Club specimen schedules have been updated to reflect the amended regulation, and that they should liaise with the printing companies in order to reach a mutual agreement as to an appropriate closing date.

For those shows taking place in 2016, for which a schedule has already been published, please be advised that whilst the published postal closing date of entries must continue to be adhered to, societies may request to extend their online entries up until the seventh day before the show opens. Request should be emailed to breedshows@thekennelclub.org.uk.

We are proud!!!

Late November but the round up this week is HUGE news. First let’s hear from Laura “Niamh earned her PACH title at the Talcott Mt. agility trial in Springfield, MA today. She is the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to do so. To achieve a PACH – Preferred Agility Champion, she had to earn 20 Double Qs, qualifying in both Standard and Jumpers courses on the same day and 750 points, one point for every second under course time. I’m very proud of her. PACH GCH Niamh of Cnoc CD BN PCD RE MXP5 MXPS MJP5 MJPS PAX MFP T2BP JE RATO CGCA”.

Then it’s Monique with the now 16 year old Oliver “Today in New Hampshire, Oliver earned two NACSW Nose Work titles: NW3-C (Container search) and NW3-I (Interior search). He is the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn all four NW3 Element titles by successfully passing each element at 3 different trials! So proud that my old guy is still capable of having fun and earning titles to boot! So to give him his full due it’s ARBA CH. Rainbow Springs Oliver Twist SE, RN, RATI, RATS, NW1, NW2, NW3-V, NW3-E, NW3-C, NW3-I, L1I, L1V, SD-NB, SD-NC, SD-NE, SD-AD

For an incredible, unbelievable third report in one weekend Winston, assisted by Mark, earned his Canine Nose Work (NW2)title with the National Association of Canine Scentwork.

A late catch up from Jeff Dairiki “Last weekend, at the Whidbey Island KC show in Monroe, WA, our Ciarán went BOB both days: Saturday under judge Robert Hutton, Sunday under judge Mareth Kipp.  Saturday’s win, a five-point major, finished his championship, making him “CH Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette CA RATS”! Ciarán’s mother, CH Liberty’s Colors of Keadeen (Violet), took BOS both days, and brother CH Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas (Emmet) was SEL both days, so it was all in the family.

Over in Finland it was a back to back weekend for the Jyvaskyla International. On Saturday it was BOB Gleann Bigwig and BOS Pearytail Artless Tess and Sunday BOB to Gleann Una Noonan with BOS Gleann Bigwig. The Danish Terrier Club also had a double weekend with Saturday seeing Hammersmolles Pandora at the top with Gleann Willie the Whale Best Dog. Sunday saw a reverse of the placings with Pandora going onto get BIS 2 Junior! In Germany My Dear Fellow Bealtaine de Coco took home the Best of Breed rosette.

Over in America Kilkenny’s Granite Aine of Claddagh was BOB at Agathon KC and at Golden Vally it was back to back Best of Breeds for Jeonty Golden Memo.

Many congratulations to everybody!
