Cor blimey…..

Most people will be sitting down to read this and it’s a good job; Manchester schedules are now available!

They are obviously in the spirit of the Olympics and wanting to be first……with the longest notification of a show. Manchester Championship Dog Show starts on the 17th January 2017 and that is Terrier day. Glen of Imaal Terriers are to be judged by Patsy Hollings. Entries close 7th December but there will be a reminder then

Results, results, results

Glen of Imaal Terriers and their owners…..on through the summer

In Ireland at Coleraine Abberann Phelan took BOB with Poachersmoon Sissy McGinty Best Bitch. A selection of shows in Finland: At Mikkeli Group Show McJakes Angel-Lina was Best of Breed whilst at Koylio Group Show Gleann Ungus MacGuire took the top award with Balloo Girl Best Opposite Sex. Raisio All Breed had Stiubhard Artful Dodger at Gleann Best of Breed and Taramont Niamh Tir Na Og Best Opposite & Best Veteran.

Over in the States Glen Falls KC had Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore as Best of Breed, Sturgis KC saw Abberann Torcan add a Group 2 rosette to his ever growing collection and at Cudahay KC Daulton’s Seanchai of Blessington took Group 3

Well done indeed folks!!

Mature Dog Survey

The Royal Veterinary College is doing a survey on mature dogs. Admittedly their idea on mature (3 years) seems a little daft when Glen of Imaal Terriers aren’t even considered mature until after then but what do we know? As we’re a breed that has outstanding and exceptional veterans hopefully people with one of those will take time to fill it in.

Ireland’s Heartland Heritage Festival

Ireland has a record of promoting their breeds (some of us remember the IKC events and a brilliant speech by Sean Delmar on the Kerry in particular) but it hasn’t really been done for quite a few years now. This is going to change in November when the 1st Ireland Heartland heritage Festival will take place. A full catalogue of events has been scheduled and updates will be on here as soon as things are known.

August may be holiday season….

….but some Glen of Imaal Terrier people “holiday” at dog shows.

Three back to back shows at Kuopio (Finland) saw 2 Best of Breeds for Glean Damn Daisy and one for Pearytail Bonnie B Good. Rosears Humpty Dumpty and Marfidal Pleasant Surprise taking the Best Opposites. Another 3 B2Bs in Canfield (Ohio) had Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham doing the double BOBs with Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras taking number 3. A nice weekend for Abberann Torcan with a Group 2 & 3 at Marshall, Michigan.

Sue Sutton, it doesn’t matter it was “only a little show” when Poachersmoon Sissy McGinty is Best Terrier, Best Irish Native Breed at Reserve Best In Show at Castlerea. The Norwegian Terrier Club runs Junior Handling so applause to Siri & Tilla for winning.

Okay, “Gatsby” got a Group 4 and “Picabo” Best Opposite but it would be nice to have names and places….hint, hint!

Whether your full name or call name is all we’v got you’ve done us proud-congratulations all.

Will you be at around Belfast on September 16th & willing to travel to the event? Do you know somebody who will be willing to do their bit? Then share it with us to share with the Glen community!
