Birmingham Gundog & Terrier (postal) entries close on Monday-October 2nd. Glen of Imaal Terriers will be judged by Wendy Tobijanski and as she is on their judging list the EFG will be sponsoring the rosettes.
Monthly Archives: September 2017
Well the strapline is “Keeping Glen of Imaal People up to date”
So we thought we’d bring something to attention and it may be worth filing in favourites for future reference.
The Government is looking at new regulations for dog breeding (this has been covered before) but the Kennel Club has prepared their own document. It’s quite long and pushes the ABS but it DOES need reading!
Montgomery entries announced
Montgomery is THE big Terrier Show in America and the one that has many European visitors. The entry for Glen of Imaal Terriers is quite a small one for this show; 23 in the classes and 15 in the Parade of Titleholders. It’ll still be one heck of an event though!
Do you enter shows online?
The Kennel Club have issued a reminder about entry forms. It might be worth giving any Higham or Fosse pre-filled in entries another look.
The breed knows our Veterans are good!
Glen of Imaal Terrier people know that we are a breed that gets better as we get older. Not for us the puppy champ and over the hill by 3 route. Glens are a breed that celebrate getting older and this weekend our senior flag flew tall and proud when Abberann Conan took Best of Breed and Group 4 in his twelfth year at Belfast Show. Best Bitch was his kennel mate Abberann Reach for the Stars Ryanne with Boudivella Osca and Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore taking the relevant Reserves with Romainville Rock on Lizzie Best Puppy.
At the Copenhagen Winners Best of Breed was awarded to MacCormac Setna Sithbacc and Pearytail Bonnie B Goode was Best Opposite Sex. Tallin International Show was a wave to the top spot for Gleann Dynamite Mike with Gleann Elite Ellie Best Bitch.
Keadeen’s Second Star to the Right was taking a short break in Montana and annexed two Best of Breeds and a Group 4 and at Butler County KC on day 1 Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore took BOB with Tipperary American Girl Best Bitch with American Girl getting BOB on the second day and OHG2.
A first reporting of an award; who knew that Australia has “Best Neuter” awards? Ch Taufield Queen of Tara was at three shows recently and was awarded Best Runner Up Neuter in all three Groups.
Monique sends the following for the “brains” department-
Ginny had a fun weekend of Scent Work trials! At Saturday’s USCSS (US Canine Scent Sports) event, she earned her titles in both Novice Interior and Novice Vehicle, completing her overall Novice Variable title! She also qualified in an Intermediate Containers class. Sunday was a PSD (Performance Scent Dogs) trial and she earned her Novice Exteriors title and a qualifying leg in Advanced Exteriors with 2 seconds to spare.
Congratulations to everybody and it has to be extra applause on behalf of us all for Conan at Belfast.

A new Champion and yet another Group placing.
Glen of Imaal Terrier people in the UK were up and about early as there was a 9.00am start at Darlington. The Hannington family were one of the furthest travellers in the breed but they positively flew home as their Romainville Uptown Girl took her 3rd CC so became a Champion. The Dog CC and Best of Breed was Golden Spurs who is having a great run at the moment. Respective Reserves were Pajantick Razamataz and Romainville Whistle Dixie. Best puppy was Jeonty Jyn A New Hope. A new name to the top slot in Ireland as Abberann Cosmic Cowboy took the Dog Green Star and BOB at Carlow with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne taking Best Bitch.
Seems to have been a quiet weekend in Finland with only one result coming through. Tampere Group Show was a win for Highlander’s Dream Casper with Glenrosedale Cairenn Chasdubh Best Bitch. A cluster of shows in Massachusetts saw a Best of Breed for Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney and three for Kilkenny’s Best of My Love who also took OHG2.
Nice going everybody!!
