Midland Counties Show: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT RE: ROAD CLOSURES

The A518 near the Staffordshire Police HQ is closed in both directions for the week commencing Monday 23rd October to Sunday 29th (pm) inclusive. This is the main route from M6 J14 (and Stafford) to the showground.

Midland Counties have consulted with the contractors and Staffs CC but regrettably there are no mitigations possible – eg relaxing the closure.

As such there is a full closure in place for the duration of the show.

There will be a signed diversion in place. Visitors to the show should exit the M6 at J14 and follow the A34 towards Stone. When on the outskirts of Stone, follow the signed Diversion onto the A51 towards Rugeley. Continue along the A51 until you reach the traffic lights at the A518 turn ( right) towards Showground and Stafford. There is a notice to say the A518 is closed at Veritas Academy but this is BEYOND the showground so wont affect show traffic access.

On leaving the showground, the reverse route should be taken.

The Officers and Committee apologise for this impact on your day which is beyond our control. We will be monitoring the situation but visitors are advised to allow an extra 30 minutes on their journey time.

Count them…….seven plus two!

Glen of Imaal Terriers aren’t a breed that feature over much in Group top placings but the round up this week brings in an incredible seven!

Arcadia Florida saw a cluster and Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend getting Best of Breed on all four days plus Groups 2, 3 & 4. Best opposite to him was Finnabair Cattskill Goldie. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette, on his way home back to the north-west, stopped over in Idaho for two Best of Breeds at Lizard Butte Kennel Club & two at Idaho Capital City Kennel Club where he picked up a OHG3 and OHG2. Mad River Valley KC saw another group placement for Glens when Kilkenny’s Middleton of Irish Spirit took OHG4. In New York state Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras took a couple of Best of Breeds and clocked up number seven group placement for Glens with a OHG2.

Jyvaskyla (Finland) was a Best of Breed for Highlander’s Dream Casper with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Bitch on day 1 & day 2 was a win for Gleann Bigwig. In Germany it was the Bundessieger weekend and big success for the Juniors with both the National and International shows having the same results, Best of Breed Gleann Holly at Spirit of Ireland with Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice Best Dog.

The big road trip over to Montgomery & back (four weeks in total) for the Dairiki boys wasn’t just for exhibition ribbons as Jeff writes “This weekend in Boise Quinn passed four of four master runs at the Valley Barn Hunt trials, earning his RATCHX title (as well as passing two of two crazy 8 runs, earning his CZ8B title.) Ciarán passed both of his master runs yesterday, earning high in class in both.

When you look at the gallery you’ll see a picture that doesn’t seem to fit. It’s Keadeen Second Star to the Right in the Group ring at Montgomery last week, the photograph arrived too late. Even though the top says seven group placements Glens probably had eight as the news has only come in unofficially about one of them……hint…hint if you haven’t sent. Here it is. Welcome to a new name for the weekend round up, Abberann Black Velvet Band by Galore who took 2 Best of Breeds and OHG1 & 2 in Oklahoma so it’s actually a tremendous NINE group placements!!!!!

Brilliant weekend everybody

GLEN OF IMAAL JUDGE DARLINGTON 17

LD (3)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Oscar. Strong, masculine head with powerful jaw. Good forehand with well laid shoulders, slight bow and good bone. Typical topline and good set on. Shown in excellent coat. Moved very well.

2 Rogers’ Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty (Imp). Not quite the coat texture of the winner but he too has a good head and expression, decent forehand with good bone and nicely padded feet. Sound and free moving.

3 Hardy’s Amhard Justin Thyme

OD (4,1)

1 Alstead’s Ch Golden Spurs. An impressive exhibit with a grand head, dark eye, good ears and powerful jaw and muzzle. Strong moderate neck, well laid shoulders and good bone. Well ribbed with a strong, slightly arched loin. Impressed on the move. Shown in excellent coat & condition. CC & BOB.

2 Hogburn’s Pajantick Razamataz. Very typical and pleasing for balance. Good width of skull, well placed eyes and ears. Well bodied with muscular, nicely angulated hind quarters. Very easy on the move with plenty of drive. Reserve CC.

3 Hardy’s Amard High Flyer

MPB (2)

1 Rogers’ Jeonty Jyn A New Hope. A smart, well balanced youngster, good breadth and length of skull, strong foreface. Strong wide chest with well laid shoulders. Shown in a good jacket and her maturity of body gave her the edge today.

2 George’s Romainville Rock On Lizzie. Less finished than the winner but she too has an attractive, typical head and expression. Good harsh topcoat. Strong loin. Sound and she displayed an effortless, free moving gait.

JB (2,1)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan. Good sized skull, strong jaw, pleasing eye. Good breadth of chest, decent forehand with good bone. Well ribbed with strong loin giving typical topline. Good set on. Very good profile action, just a little untidy going away from me.

LB (3)

1 George’s A Romainville Whistle Dixie. Lovely substance, type and balance. Good breadth of skull with neat well set ears. Strong jaw. Good ribbing and short strong loin. Impressed on the move with a very easy driving action. Good double coat. Reserve CC.

2 James & O’brien’s Amhard Jessie Jay. Pleasing, typical head and expression with dark, well set eyes. Typical topline. Good set on. Maybe a little too well ribbed! Good quarters and she moved out with some drive. A lovely character.

3 Hardy and Tune’s Amhard Jeez Louise

OB (1)

1 Hannington’s Romainville Uptown Girl. Very typical and well balanced with good breadth of skull, lovely dark eye and good ears. Decent forehand with slight bow and well padded feet. Strong loin and good rib with typical topline. Moved out well. CC, her third I was told, congratulations.

GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

PD (1)

1 White’s Abberann Cosmic Cowboy. Blue puppy with promise, liked his overall make and shape, just needs to settle and when he does should trouble the best.

LD (1)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Osca. Wheaten with a good head shape and strong muzzle, correct front and feet, very good body proportions, would have preferred slightly more rise, moved so well both ways, excellent coat and condition.

OD (1)

1 White’s Ch Ir Am Sw Ch Abberann Conan An Ch 06/07/08 CW 07/08/09/10. What a pleasure to go over this 12 yr old blue from his very good head shape, strong muzzle, neat, correct ears, body proportions and depth and rise to his correct front and rear and muscletone. His effortless free movement, coat and condition was excellent. I was so pleased to see him go Group 4.

PB (1)

1 George’s Romainville Rock On Lizzie. Promising raw wheaten, typy head, good bite, good body proportions, just needs time.

JB (1)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan. Good head and eye, correct topline and length, moved well going, needs to settle a tad in front.

LB (1)

1 George’s Romainville Whistle Dixie. Good width to head, ample neck, strong loin, moved well going.

OB (3)

1 White’s Ir Ch Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne. Quality blue bitch, loved her typical front, good hindquarters used to advantage, good feet, in the best of coats, pushed hard for top spot.

2 White’s Ir/Nl Ch Daultons Midnight Sky Of Galore. Another very good bitch with well sprung ribs, strong loin, excellent hindquarters, moved so well going but preferred front of first.

3 Hannington’s Romainville Uptown Girl.

Judge W Browne-Cole
