New Champions and Group Placements!!!!

What a set of results to bring together; reckon it is three new Glen of Imaal Terrier Champions, two new working titles plus numerous Group Placements. The 3 newbies are Abberann Karl, Keadeen’s Sir Emmett Mingus Glas & Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone. Karl took his third ticket at Belfast with Abberann Ennya taking the Bitch CC and Abberann Phelan & Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Taking the respective two Reserves. Keadeen’s Sir Emmett Mingus Glas took his title at the Monroe KC cluster with Best of Winners all three days. Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone took his title with 2 Best Opposites at the West Velusia KC back to backs. Congratulations to the breed’s new Champions but special applause for Griff as his front CH will give a bit of balance to the BN, RA, CGCA, RATO, JE, NJP, CA(NW1) that appear at the back of his name.

Monique writes about the mighty Ollie “Oliver earned his Nose Work 3 Vehicle title (NW3-V) at the NACSW Nose Work trial in Ashby, Massachusetts on Saturday. The weather was finally cooler and he was extremely motivated to find the hidden birch, anise, and clove odours.” With Laura writing that Niamh has earned her Master FAST agilty title. 10 qualifying runs are required to get this.

At Carlow Championship Show Abberann Phelan was Best of Breed with Group 4, Best Bitch was Ir Ch Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore. At Gig Harbour in America Keadeen’s Chloe was BOB & BOBOH Group 2 at one of the shows and Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette was BOB at the other.

The West Volusia Finnabair All In took the top award and OH Group 4 at the first show and Finnabair Song O’My Heart was BOB plus OH Group 3 as well as Terrier Group 3. A cluster at Monroe, Michigan saw Abberann Torcan take all three of the Best of Breeds. The only European result to come in was the Hyvinkaa Group Show In Finland with Gleann Damn Daisy Best of Breed and Susamurun Resta Qui Best Bitch.

Keeping going….

Glen of Imaal Terrier people like to keep out and about” At South Wales Kennel Association the Challenge Certificates went to both ends of the age scale with veteran Donvaleset Rebus taking the dog ticket & BOB whilst the bitch ticket went to the puppy bitch Bonny Nell. At the back to back International Shows in Ireland it was The big rosette for Ch Abberann Karl on day one and Abberann Phelan on Day 2. The Danish Terrier Club also had back to back shows and McCormac Setna Sithbacc was Best of Breed both days.

Over in America GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned took two Group 2s at Arcadia, Florida and GCH Daultons Emerald Green was BOB and Owner Handler Group 2 at Mad River KC. Finnabair Winston O’Reilly CD BN RN TD NJP JE THD RATN CGC turned his Novice barnhunt title into Open (RATO) over the weekend, what can’t this boy do?

Busy few days

The show season seems to be certainly starting for Glen of Imaal Terriers. In Finland Rosears Fuzzbuster was Best of Breed at Kajaani whilst in Luxemburg Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty took the top award. CH Tipperary American Girl JE took two back to back Best of Breeds at Monroeville and two Group 2s were recorded by GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned in Florida (why doesn’t the UK have such fabulous names as Greater Orange Park Dog Club?). At the Utrecht Show(Holland) Madra Athos Annowre Aobh an Solais was Best of Breed

It’s the terrier high spot of the year when National Terrier takes place and BOB there was Ch Donvaleset Bier with Ir Ch Abberann Karl taking the dog ticket. The two reserves were, respectively, Romainville Jean Genie and Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty. Best Puppy went to Romainville Jazzman.

Summing up the weekend.

In the US there was a decent Glen of Imaal Terrier entry at the cluster of shows around Terrier Club of Michigan. It was a total success for GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton taking Best of Breed at all three events with GCH Daulton’s Clodagh from Cill Dara standing Best Opposite. Piedmont KC has a back to back weekend and GCH Kilkenny’s Sullivan of Castlerock took Gp3 & 4 as well as BOB both days.

Northern Ireland held its only KC Championship Show and BOB Glen there was Ch Abberann Karl with Jeonty MeMe Fern taking the Bitch Ticket. The German Winners at Leipzig saw Spirit of Ireland Batida de Coco taking the 2013 title. At Maastricht Carrighglen Big Boy did the double and a Puppy Group 3 for Ellerton Dusky Beauty at Cleethorpes.

In Sweden the Glen club organised an Autumn walk and the good weather was very enjoyed.

A new International Champion (amongst other things)

Glen of Imaal Terriers welcomes an new International Champion in Abberann Bearnard (litter brother to Karl who obtained his last week) with his BOB at Hamina International Show with BOS going to Rosears-Forget-Me-Not. At Helsinki Gleann Rabarber Drom was BOb with Rosears Heads or tails Best Opposite. Over in America the multi-talented Niamh added 2 Open FAST legs, 2 Excellent  Jumpers legs all of which which completed her AJP title and 1 Excellent Standard leg. Way to go people!!!

We’re getting out again!

Combined Canine Club ShowFinally the long winter seems to be coming to an end and Glen of Imaal Terrier people are slowly getting back to showing their dogs.

Over in Ireland the Combined Canine Show saw Ch Abberann Karl take Best of Breed and then onto Group 2. At Lappeenranta Dog Show Rosears Custom Built was BOB with Rosears Ablooming Bud Best Opposite. The WPKA Show in Pennsylvania saw one of Jo Lynns take Best of Breed and Tiina Assinen visted Sweden and came home with 2 Swedish Champions. Ladies, don’t hide your light under a bushel…we need the names!

In the UK (very unusually) a Glen Puppy has placed twice in the Group at her first two shows. It was Gp 3 at her first and Gp 2 at her second. Nice that Jeonty Meme Fern is catching the judges eye.Lappeenranta Show

As the year moves into Autumn…

…Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about.

At Driffield Championship Show Best Dog (and Best of Breed) was awarded to Kirikee Ronan O’Gara with Amhard Ginger Snap Best Bitch. In Ireland there were back to back shows-one national and one international-and Ch Abberann Karl was BOB at both. The American Kennel Club really give dogs, and owners, a chance to test their brains and “Sullivan” Lopez passed his Odour Recognition Test. An individual scent discrimination test is a new award to folk east of the Atlantic Ocean. Well done everybody.

Out and about

Glen of Imaal Terriers have been getting noticed. On the Irish circuit Ir Ch Abberann Karl was BOB at all four shows and was pulled to Group 4 twice. At Limnka Bwrenna Vom Au Deich was BOB and at the Tampere Terrier Show Pearytail Abomb Abby was BOB with Gleann Rabarber Drom being awarded Best Veteran and then Best Veteran 2 in the whole show. The Glens also took Best Breeder Group in Show. Many congratulations to all!

Busy people

Boy have Glen of Imaal Terriers been in the news over the last week! GCH Finnabair Song O’ My Heart started the run with a Gp2 and 3. Estonian Winner 2012 went to Ch Jeonty Flown Finnair and Abberann Karl also did a Gp2 & 3 at Munster & Cork respectively. It wasn’t only the show world were the breed was excelling as Finnabair Winston O’Reilly added a new working title and the Glen with the best name in existence, Liberty’s Phineas T Prowness of Makin People Happy, obtained a Coursing Ability title-only the 2nd Glen to do so. This award will be a new one for non American owners so do have a look at what it is. Congratulations everybody.

Birmingham National (under judge Fran Kaye) saw Best of Breed Glen of Imaal Terrier awarded to Kirikee Ronan O’Gara-his first big award–and BOS to Romainville Lily. Romainville Billy Whizz continued his National Terrier win with Best Puppy was Rserve Best Dog. Tampere International Show in Finland had Gleann Ode Best of Breed and Gleann Vagabond BOS. Over in Ireland Ch Abberann Karl was BOB at South Tipperary and Ir/Ch Abberann Ennya was BOB at Fermoy International. Well done everybody
