GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

It was great to see this chunky great breed in the ring, the entry was small but well represented in good quality, a breed that could do a day’s work. The temperament was wonderful with many enjoying their day out. Thank you all.

LD (5)1 Hanninigton’s Boudivella Oscar another well presented dog in good condition, scissor bite, strength in head. dark eyes, deep chest, balanced rib to loin, strength in rear, moved well around the ring. RCC.

2 Hardy’s Amhard Justin Thyme, another strong dog, well balanced, pushed 1st for his place but just lost out in movement.

3 Hogburn’s Pajantick Razamataz.

PB (1)1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan young feminine bitch who enjoyed her day, moved well, lovely balanced head with expressive eyes, scissor bite, neat front, balanced rib to loin, good rear, presented well BP.

JB (1)1 Alstead’s Sigrid Helga At Pantcottage another feminine bitch who took my eye, presented in good condition, strong scissor bite, balanced head, lovely expression in dark eyes, neat front, good rib to loin ratio, muscular rear giving drive covering the ring well. BCC.

Group placings galore!!

Glen of Imaal Terriers are certainly getting noticed in Groups at the moment.

In the USA Kilkennys Across the Universe at Setanta took a Group 1 at Kokomo Kennel Club, Keadeen Second Star To the Right a Group 3 at Coeur D’Alene and Finnabair Double D friend of a Friend a Gp 4 at Rhineland Kennel Club. The Owner Handler Groups are turning into a positive triumph for the breed with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas annexing BOTH a Owner Handler Best In Show and Reserve Best In Show. Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit also notched up an OHG1 as did Tipperary American Girl!

Canada may have only recently recognised Glens but recognised they certainly are with a Group 3, Group 4 and Best Puppy in Group for Gleann Holy Hannah and Groups 2 and 3 for Abberann Phelan.

In Europe there may not be the Group placings but there are certainly the dogs getting shown. At the Danish Terrier Club Gleann Cute Cocoon was Best of Breed and the Estonian Winners was a success for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with Gleann Damn Daisy Best Opposite. Helsinki International was a win for Gleann Cotton Cody with Damn Daisy once again Best Bitch. She made it three in a row at the Latvian Winners, this time to Gleann Bigwig. Turri Show was a BOB for Gleann Dear Dandelion and Best Dog was Gleann Eager Edgar

The UK saw a run of SKC, Bath, Southern Counties and the Glen Association Open Show with the top places being shared around. Scottish Kennel Club was a BOB for Amhard High Flyer with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking the Bitch CC. Bath was Golden Spur and Romainville Whistle Dixie with Southern Counties seeing the first bitch BOB with Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Pajantick Razamatazz Best Opposite. The Glen Association saw Amhard High Flyer take home Best in Show with Reserve Best in Show going to the Reserve Best Dog Rollo The Great at his first ever official dog show! Best Bitch there was Romainville Razzamatazz. Best Puppy was Boudivella Tegan with Best Veteran Donvaleset Domino.

Besides the shows Glens were also at Burghley (courtesy of Nicki Atkin) for the Living Heritage Fair and Ciarin and Quinn were adding titles behind their names with RATCHX and Junior Earthdog. Monique sends special news of Ginny……qualififying for the 3rd time in Novice Buildings so earning her title today at the Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) trial in Westford, MA! She also learned two new scents this week, Anise & Clove, and was able to detect them during the Target Odor Tests.  “Star” though of this whole round up is summed up in owner Louise Lopez’s own words “I am so very, very proud of Tula! She earned her NW3 Elite title in Corvallis, Oregon today. This means she’s passed Nose Work 3 with a perfect score three times and is now qualified to compete at the Elite Level. She’s the first Glen to earn this title-such a wonderful girl”

Fabulous couple of weeks everybody and congratulations to all!

Was pleased to award the Dog CC  2nd:   Golden Spurs. Dr. J. Alstead. I have always liked this young man but today his movement let him down plus he looked very young for this class…which is good for his owner, a slow maturing glen is the best to have.  3rd:  Romainville Freddies Choice. Mr & Mrs. A. Dunning

OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:  Amard High Flyer. Mr & Mrs M. Hardy. A young lad who is a good mover, got a nice head, eye colour good and a correct mouth, liked his front and feet, today for me he needed a little more weight on. 2nd:  Pajantick Star Trooper. Miss. L. Hogburn. This young lad looks lovely in stance and moving around the ring he proves to be sound, he has a stunning head a great body, his coat looked lovely but just preferred the bite  on 1st.

Tail set correct angulations not over done. 2nd:  Pajantick Rockahula. Mrs J. Whithers. A baby that had the sweetest expression  of the day, loved her head and eye colour, good bone, correct front. sturdy  body for a baby, she didn’t feel like running round the ring today so movement could not be assessed.

A young lady who is very talkative while she is being gone over by a judge, a lovely head, correct mouth nice eye colour and shape. lovely front, ample bone, deep chest not over done in stifle, moved sound, really like this young lady and will watch her future with interest. Pleased to award her the Reserve BCC, well done. 2nd:   Amhard Jessie Jay, A. & J. O’Brien & P & D. James.  This young lady is coming on in leaps and bounds, a great head and expression correct bite, sturdy body nice front, great angulations front and rear, was stacked and looked beautiful but movement a little erratic today,  her day will come I am sure.

LB (3 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Romainville Rock On Ruby. K. George. I have judged this young lady before when she was lacking coat, but today she is in full coat, nice type, she  has a lovely head  strong but feminine, good foreface, correct bite, ears and eyes. her front is correct giving a good front movement, deep chest, well boned. A good  rear driving action.  Pleased to award her the BCC and BOB. well done. 2nd: Amhard Indy Kate . Mr. & Mrs. Hardy. A lovely little lady so sweet, adorable expression  head not to ignore nice amount of width across the skull correct bite, ear placement and front. She can show the rest how to move but today a little to much tuck up for me. 3rd:  Romainville Uptown Girl . Miss. A. Hannington.

VB (1 Entries)  1st: 9644  Ch Jeonty Maybe Daysee . Mrs. J. B. Baldock. A champion that has had everything said about her that can be said. Today her movement let her down for top spot.
