Please follow the link below and read thoroughly.

The strapline of this blog is keeping Glen of Imaal Terrier owners up to date so any and every Glen owner who intends to breed a litter in the future needs to read this document fully. It would also be an idea to bookmark it

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) 2018. Guidance notes for conditions for breeding dogs comes into force October 1 2018.

Please don’t think that this doesn’t concern you. According to that breeding a single puppy and selling it could constitute a business. If your bitch has had a caesarean probably forget about another litter. The stud fee puppy (instead of a fee) cannot be sold on anymore because it wasn’t bred on your premises. No Glen person would seriously contemplate having a litter unless their bitch/dog had been CRD3 tested but now it will have to be done. Always closely line bred? Forget it now

It may say “Guidance” but think what others there have been over the past few years:- docking ban (it happened). Breeder’s licence (it happened). Within the past few days it has been announced that after the World Show no more dog shows will be allowed in Amsterdam because of “Welfare”. Luxembourg has also cancelled it’s biggest show this year. Remember as well that HMRC have been looking at dog breeding to such a degree that there is now the “injury lawyers for us” style advert about it.

A decent breakdown of it can be read here.
