Forequarters stronger than rear with well boned foreleg and correct turn of foot. Shoulders broad and well laid back. In good harsh coat, neatly presented, he lacked enthusiasm on the move today.

OD (4,1) 1. White’s CH, IR, AM & SW CH Abberann Conan. Over the years many superlatives have been said about this 12yr old blue showman and I was delighted to have the opportunity to add my own. He has an excellent outline and proportions giving the impression of strength, essential in a Glen. In good coat, so well presented as always. His gentle expression belies a strong head and jaw with required correct ear set, dark eye and scissor bite. Fit for purpose, he has the desired front assembly and bone with strong hindquarters and depth of chest together with correct angulations. He is still well muscled throughout and commanded the ring with his balanced movement, tail carried gaily. Pleased to award him DCC & BIS

  1. Hannington’s Boudivella Osca A lot to like about this wheaten male of 2 yrs and 10mths, differing in type to 1. Good angulation front and rear, and well muscled throughout. In good coat and well presented, he moved well with correct tail carriage.

MPB (1) Hardy’s Amhard Mai Tai. A lovely 6 mth old youngster, litter sister to the PD winner. Pleasing feminine head with dark eye and good bite. An appealing expression, used to advantage, making her the exhibit I’d like to have taken home with me. Good front and rear angulation with correct top line and tail set. Muscling up well for her age and in good coat. She enjoyed her debut in the ring and once settled, moved well. Handled sensitively and unfortunate to come against a more mature dog for the puppy challenge.

Ann Quinn(Judge)

A bit quieter this weekend

The weekend before December and for many it’s the start of Christmas Shopping but some Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. The Glen Association Championship Show was judged by Ann Quinn and it was certainly worth the long trip for the Whites. Best In Show was awarded to Abberann Conan who also took Best Veteran (our oldies are having a ball at the moment) with Best Opposite Sex going to Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore. Best Puppy was “Conan’s boy” Abberann Cosmic Cowboy. The two Reserves were Rollo The Great and Donvaleset Brier, who is also a Veteran. West Midlands Terrier was another veteran BOB in the shape of Johnny Be Good at Romainville. Two HauHau Shows in Finland. The first one saw Highlander’s Dream Casper take BOB with Gleann Una Noonan Best Bitch. The results were reversed on Day 2 with Una Noonan being awarded BOB with Dream Casper Best Opposite.

Just a couple of shows reporting in from America. At Agathon Kennel Club Tipperary American Girl was Best of Breed and Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen was Best Dog. At the second Agathon show American Girl again triumphed, plus OHG4, with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen getting Best Opposite.

Griffin was adding to his alphabet of titles as he obtained his Excellent Jumpers with Weaves so he needs a lot of room now for a full shout out- Champion Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone BN RE NAP OJP JE CAX BCAT RATO CGCA TKP AJP

Well done all.

Glen Association Show on Sunday

The Glen Association Championship Show will be held on Sunday at Pilsley Village Hall, Peartree Road, Pilsley, Chesterfield, S45 8HU. Most will be attending via sat nav so will be putting the postcode into the machine (hence the bold). Locals to Derbyshire though, on being told that the show is at Pilsley, Derbyshire, may automatically think of the “other” Pilsley at Chatsworth. If you do end up there by mistake it is only 17 miles to the Pilsley where the show is being held so you shouldn’t miss much!

The show starts at midday and judge Ann Quinn has 20 Glen of Imaal Terriers entered for her opinion.
