What a First!

Glen of Imaal Terriers triumph in many fields but how about this…..Laura Trainor writes:- Niamh (GCH PACH Niamh of Cnoc CD PCD BN RE MXP9 MXPG MJP7 MJPS PAX2 MFP T2BP JE RATM CGCA TKI) earned her RATCH today at Central Bark. This makes her the first Triple Champion Glen earning Championships in three different disciplines! Just awesome and then Jeff Dairiki writes:- both boys hunted as well as they ever have this weekend at The Club at Argus Ranch’s Barn Hunt trials. Both dogs had a 100% Q-rate through the long weekend! That was just enough for Ciarán to earn his RATCHX6 and Quinn his RATCHX5 in the final trial of the weekend. (Both dogs notched up Crazy 8 titles as well — Ciarán platinum, and Quinn gold.) What a weekend for the breed in other disciplines.

Porvoo All Breed Show in Finland saw Rosears Master of the House BOB with Gleann Una Noonan Best Bitch & Best Veteran. The N.I. Terrier Association Group Championship Show was a Best of Breed for Abberann Cosmic Cowboy and kennelmate Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite Sex. London & Home Counties Terrier was where Wickholm Breaking Dawn got the nod over Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm and at Lochabers Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae took 5th, and money, in a huge Open Bitch Stakes (not bad at 13 months old) and then won Good Citizens with over 20 in the class…….oh yes and £10. In The States at Umpqua KC Keadeen Second Star To The Right was BOB and she repeated it at South Oregon Kennel Club. The exhibiting biggie of the weekend was Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta winning the Terrier Group both days in Kenosha Wisconsin and Reserve Best in Show on Saturday.

You all do us so proud.

First of 2015

The first Glen of Imaal Terrier round up of the first weekend are all American but even they are “getting weather” when temperatures at Palm Springs are in the 20s and they still use Fahrenheit! BOB there was GCH Finnabair Waking Kilmurray with BOS going to Jeonty Sunny Sky Baby. At Columbiana County KC the top spot went to GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton (following on from the BOB at Western Reserve before Christmas). She was also BOB at one of the fabulously named Rubber City KC with Ch Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras CGC BOB at the other. The Brains Brigade keep on going whatever the time of year with Tula getting her Open Title in Barn Hunt-and first place- at a few days short of 8 years old and Griffin earned his 2nd leg in Novice Jumper with Weaves.

Great going everybody!!

Montgomery and others

In America the Montgomery cluster is the big weekend of the year for all Terrier people, not just Glen of Imaal Terrier folk, and they were out in big numbers. Hatboro 1 starts it all off and it was BOB for Ch Abberann Torcan, BOS GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green with Best Winners for Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife. Hatboro 2 saw GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned as BOB, his sister GCH Finnabair Song O’My Heart stood opposite him with Finnabair Song Of The Border as BOW. Devon saw Torcan again triumphant with GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton Best Opposite & Ber-D-Mar Charm One of Wicklow getting Best Opposite. Montgomery is the biggie and it went to the veteran GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green, the first BOB handled by the owner, with GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned taking Best Dog and Ber-D-Mar Charm One of Wicklow taking Best of Winners again. There are also various agility and working trials held around the weekend and Laura Trainor’s Niamh got a double double qualifier in Agility and then took her RATN (Barn Hunt title) along with kennel mate Kylee. Peg Carty’s Gem & Dorie qualified RATI.

At Zwolle in the Netherland Madrad Athas Aingael Alva Solais took BOB and in Finland Glenrosedale Aoibhean Nion Ros was BOB at the Tuulos Group Show. It’s not often results come in from Russia, at Pskov Marfidal Cream Tea was Best of Breed and became a Russian Champion

Great weekend everybody!

A fabulous finish…..

Monday is the day of recording Glen of Imaal Terrier triumphs the previous week. This year there have been more and more people sharing the brains of their dogs as well as their beauty so this, shared by Louise Lopez, makes a fabulous finish for 2013.

“Shameless brag about my dogs, as you may have deduced from the photo. Tula qualified (and placed 1st) in both Excellent Standard and Excellent Fast today and so earned her Excellent titles in both! She also qualified in Jumpers, earning her first Master’s leg. This is her first triple Q ever. But, wait! There’s more! We stuck around for Barn Hunt and both she and Sullivan qualified. What a lovely Christmas present!”

Great news Louise and Tula!!

So as it’s Monday….

…what have Glen of Imaal Terriers been doing?

Belatedly from last weekend the two Irish International Shows. On Saturday Green Star Dog was Abberran Karl with Green Star Bitch and Best of Breed to PoachersMoon Sissy McGinty. Sunday was a repeat of the Dog GS but BOB (and Bitch GS) was Abberan Enya. This weekend had Laiquendi’s Jillian Griffith James Best of Breed at Dortmund and so becoming a European Champion. At South Wales Kennel Association Best of Breed was awarded to Bregorrey Madam Defiance with Romainville Typhoon taking the Dog Challenge Certificate and Best Puppy Romainville Rock On Ruby.

Monique Anthony writes news of the fabulous (nearly 14 years old) Oliver:- Oliver had fun today at a Barn Hunt trial in Portland, CT. He was in the Senior class and had 3½ minutes to locate 4 tubes containing live rats hiddenin hay bales. With bales piled 3 levels high, 3 dirty litter tubes (without rats) to trick up the dogs, and many hiding locations, it was a very challenging course. He had already qualified twice in this class at trials a month ago. He ran round finding rat after rat after rat and qualified for the 3rd time earning his Senior Barn Hunt Title. There is a possibility he is only the 2nd dog in the country to earn the RATS title but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Congratulations to everybody!
