The seasons certainly getting going

Third week of March so a Glen of Imaal Terrier round up has to start with Ireland. At the Celtic Winners BOB was Abberann Conan with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne. Conan then went on to take Best Veteran In Show. Glens just get better as they get older! The St Patrick’s Day Show saw Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore take Best of Breed with the evergreen Conan Reserve Best of Breed.

In Lithuania the Vilnius Cup was a win for Gleann HoHo Hogan with another “eternal youthful” BOS in the shape of Gleann Una Noonan, it was a 3 show weekend (all International and one the biggest in the country) and the results were repeated at all three shows. At Weelde (Belgium) Boudivella Oscar was BOB which gives him his Belgian Championship. Combine this with his Swiss and KC Championship and he now becomes an International Champion. The first UK based one for quite a while. Romainville Uptown Girl was Best Bitch. In Offenburg (Germany) My Dear Fellow Calimero the Angel was awarded Best of Breed. In Munich Calimero was Best Opposite Sex with Best of Breed going to Spirit of Ireland Beautiful who was also Best Veteran.

Over in America the 4 Show Louisville Cluster in Kentucky had good entries. Starting with Mid-Kentucky KC it was a win for Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life with Daulton’s Ciaran of Pine Meadow Best Opposite/Best Bred by Exhibitor and BBE Gp4. Friday was Louisville and again DD was Best of with Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea Best Dog. Ciaran was Select, BBE and BBE Gp3. Evansville was next with Sweet William O’Shea and DD once more (William Best & DD BOS) Louisville KC finished off the cluster with Sweet William O’Shea once more taking the top award and Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight Best Opposite. Comedy Tonight has always been Owner Handled and the Cluster saw her obtain enough points to be awarded her Grand Championship.

Before hitting the Brains section a mention for an Open Show win; Amhard Manhatten was Best of Breed at Retford.

In the Brains Luna leads in with her Gold Good Citizens and then Ginny as Monique reports that “Ginny qualified for the 3rd time in the AKC Rally Intermediate class last weekend, earned her RI title, and was presented with a new title medallion from the First Dog Training Club of Northern New Jersey!”.

Winston & Griffin became the first Glens to earn AKC Stunt Dog Titles with both earning Novice & Open Stunt Dog titles. Ending with a new boy; Henry was first in his scent detection class. Nice one Henry, let’s hear more from you and many, many congratulations to everybody

Catching up with A LOT!

Holy Macaroni, Glen of Imaal Terriers have been doing us all so proud over the last couple of weeks it’s hard to know where to start!

Canada can take the honours this week as it is a very rare breed there in the showring so Groups are the thing for competition. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Gp1 and Gp4 United Kennel Club and Group 2 x2 at Moncton. Abberann Derbla 2 X Gp3 at Credit Valley Kennel Club plus Gp4 Georgina KC. Staying on that Continent and Gleann Damn Daisy, holidaying there from Finland, is getting seriously noticed with a GP3 at Central Florida KC, GP4 at Jacksonville Dog Fanciers plus BOB at the 2nd show, 2 BOBs at Treasure Coast KC of Florida, BOB Seminole Dog Fanciers Association plus GP2 at Seminole’s second show, Greater Ocala Dog Club was another BOB. BOS at Jacksonville was a new name to the blog, Long Lake Pharms Angus Fuller. Welcome to showing Glens and love your kennel name. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock was BOB Space Coast Kennel Club of Palm Bay and the second Greater Ocala.

Leaving Florida and going to Pennsylvania Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was BOB Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association & both Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Northern Europe and Gleann Una Noonan has to do the lead in. Best Opposite at the Norwegian Winners as well as BOS at Jyvaskyla (Day 2) she was Best veteran in Breed day one and then took Best Veteran in Show out of over 70 veterans competing for the honour! Gleann Bigwig was BOB at the Norwegian Winners to her and Gleann Indico Indy at Jyvaskyla. Day 1 of that show saw Gleann Cotton Cody & Gleann Dear Dandelion taking the top honours. To Norway again and Rosears Master of The House was BOB Nordic Winners with BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. Vaxjo (Sweden) was a BOB for Rosears Master of The House with Rosears Nugget of Gold Best Bitch. Flipping to the Danish Winners and Cairdiulacht Diarmuid MacMiolmor took Best and BOS was Rosears Nugget of Gold. Gleann Kooky Kanye was BOB at Lempäälä Puppy Show with Best Opposite Sex to Meomodo Dancing Angel. Two Best of Breeds in Germany for My Dear Fellow Calimero The Angel and in Rotterdam Amhard Manhattan took Best of Breed and his Dutch Junior Championship. Belgium to finish off and Boudivella Osca took BOB at both the Euro Dog Show & Benelux with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best Opposite at both.

Said it had been a serious bit of breed promotion and it isn’t done yet. The “brains” department was also flying the flag. Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae passed her Silver Good Citizens and “Poppy” (need a name) in America also took her Good Citizens and earned 90 out of 100 in Rally Advanced. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette qualified RATCHX7 which makes him the highest qualified barn Hunting Glen in the USA. Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took his BCAT title to show how incredibly diverse Glens are as a breed.

All over the world Glen of Imaal Terrier folk regularly give their time to promote the breed at many exhibitions and events. The National Pet Show was held recently and Alfie, Basil, Gil, Inga and Murfi showed everybody just what a Glen is. It’s also great when breed owners decide to get together “just for fun” as happened recently with the New Jersey Fall Glen Gathering.

All of us are wowed with your dedication and talent to show the breed in so many places!

Starting September with Group placings!

Glen of Imaal Terriers are certainly off the blocks for September with Group placing in Finland and America. Marfidal Pleasant Surprise was BOB & Gp4 at the Vetcare Show with Marfidal Cosmopolitan Diva Best Bitch. Also in Finland at Kihnio Gleann Ho Ho Hogan was Best of Breed with Finnabair Broc Rua Arda of Gleann BOS.

Over in the States at Durham KC Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was BOB & G2 whilst at Jaxon KC Abberann Phelan was BOB & G3 with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe To Setanta Best Opposite. Tipperary That Girl was BOB at Beaver County KC, Fort Steuben KC & St Clairesville Ohio KC and picked up OHG4 at the last two.. Longview-Kelso KC saw Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas Take the top spot in the breed on both days and then G2 both days-Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right was Best Opposite. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock was at a cluster in Kentucky and picked up BOB at all of them.

Canada had Abberann Derbla Best of Breed at Cornwall District KC and Gleann Holy Hannah was at the Atlantic Terrier Association with a very nice prize for Best of Breed, a Glen of Imaal cushion. A two day show in Bremen (Germany) saw McJake’s Angels Son Djuke take BOB on the first day, Spirit of Ireland Batida de Coco Best Bitch & Best Veteran. Day 2 was again Batida winning Best Opposite but this time Best of Breed went to Madra Athas Conner Chead Ghra.

Nice things being heard about the Glen Association weekend. 21 Glens were there so an excellent opportunity to meet the breed

Well done all!!

It might be a Bank Holiday in the UK but elsewhere it’s business as usual!

Glen of Imaal Terriers (and their people) do us all so proud. Going Native to begin with for this week’s round up with “The Circuit” in Ireland. The final three shows were Killarney, Tralee & Limerick. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage was BOB at Killarney and Limerick and Best Bitch at Tralee where Abberann Cosmic Cowboy was Best of Breed. He was Best Opposite at Limerick. No classes for Glens at Scottish Kennel Club so Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was entered into the Not Separately Classifieds and bought honour to the breed with being awarded Best Bitch.

In Finland the Riihimaki Nordic Show saw Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take Best of Breed. At Vantaa Terrier Specialty Show Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed and Best Veteran with Gleann Cotton Cody Best Dog. At Ristiina BOB was Marfidal Devil’s Rock with Marfidal Up To Your Ears Best Opposite.

Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic was in Georgia with Best of Breed at Griffin KC and Sawnee Mountain KC but Best Opposite at Conyers KC and Lawrenceville KC where Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was Best of Breed. Hearing news of two new Champions. Subject to AKC confirmation Daulton’s Eli from Emerald Isle and Tipperary Sweet Rosie O’Grady (who took an OHG4 on the day) are now Champions.

Our “brains department” has also been performing. Monique reports that “Ginny performed various exercises around sheep, ducks, and farm equipment the last 2 weekends to be evaluated on how she would behave when exposed to livestock and the sights/sounds/scents of a farm environment. She passed 2 of these tests and is now AKC Farm Dog Certified.” Quinn-Kilkenny’s Love and Happiness-has completed the requirements for the GITCA Master Versatility lifetime award as he can now put CAA CGCA CZ8S RATCHX4 SE TKN after his name. Laura Trainor received the following email:-  CONGRATULATIONS!! I am writing because your above-mentioned dog is listed on the AKC 2018 Agility Invitational Top 15 by Breed report that was published this morning

And first in this week goes to……

Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend took a short sojourn in Canada for the Sarnia cluster and returned home with  2 x Group 2, 1 Group 3, 1 x Group 4 and his Canadian Championship.  The first American bred Glen of Imaal Terrier to obtain it. Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life was also in Canada and collected three Group 4s. In Scotland Bon Accord is the local show for Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae and it was rather a good one for a finish to her puppy career. Puppy Group 1 and first in Vulnerable Breeds. Over in Ireland Abberann Cosmic Cowboy was BOB at Bray.

In Finland Oulu International Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard take Best of Breed with Astoreen Best Opposite. It was also the weekend of the Finnish Glen Club Show with a fabulous entry of 51. Best In Show went to Gleann Cotton Cody with Gleann Happy Hippie Best Bitch. Best Veteran was Abberann Fagan with Best Puppy being awarded to Finnabair Broc Rua Arda of Gleann. The Youngest Junior Handlers had a wonderful time!

In America a cluster of shows at West Springfield, Massachusetts, saw some nice Glen entries. Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was Best of Breed at all four (picking up a Gp4 at Kenilworth KC of Connecticut inc) with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney celebrating a return to the ring after her litter of ten with 3 x BOS and an OHG4. The other Best Opposite going to Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit.

Congratulations everybody

Another week gone

Let’s begin this week in California as it’s a while since there have been a number of Glen of Imaal Terriers showing in that State. Yosemite KC had a back to back with Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right Best of Breed both days. Keadenn’s Happy Go Lucky and Keadeen’s Kind of Blue were the two Best Opposites. Contra Costa County KC (another great name) was another double triumph again for Second Star with Happy Go Lucky once again Best Opposite. Moving east to McKinley KC Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took the top Glen award there. Greenwich Kennel Club had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William taking BOB. Abberann Phelan was THE man of the weekend, at b2b shows at Wheaton KC he was Group 1 both days and Reserve Best In Show on the second!

The Scandinavian enthusiasts put us all to shame with their enthusiasm week after week. Rosears Made To Measure was Best of Breed at Forssa with Marfidal Santa Baby Best Bitch. In Palanga (Lithuania) Rosears Kate the Duchess was BOB and became a new Lithuanian and Baltic Champion. The Latvian Winners saw Gleann Indico Indy take the “big rosette” with Gleann Una Noonan Best Opposite. In the “Brains Department” Laura Trainor reports ” Liam, Niamh and Kylee found the Pi-rats at the Central Bark Barn Hunt trial. Niamh earned 3 Master Qs.” What a great photo!

Congratulations all

Quite a bit to catch up on!

Glen of Imaal Terriers quite often position in the Group in America but in Europe it is quite rare so the lead in today just must go to Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice who was BOB at Lingen, Germany and then went on to Group 3! Best Bitch at the show was My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel. In Prague My dear Fellow Bealtaine de Coco took Best of Breed with My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel Best Opposite. At another show in the Czech Republic My dear Fellow Clärchen the Angel  was Best of Breed. In Sweden (Vasteras) Marfidal Pleasant Surprise was Best of Breed and Marfidal Up To Your Ears-great name- was taking a short holiday in Serbia & Estonia and was rewarded with BOB at each. Tampere Nordic Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with BOS being awarded to Pearytail Candy McCoy. He did it again on the Sunday Show with Gleann Una Noonan being awarded Best Bitch. At WELKS Romainville Billy Wizz was Best of Breed with Sigrid Helga at Pant Cottage Best Bitch, Jeonty Glynis Making Magic for Zippor was Best Puppy

In America Tipperary American Girl was BOB and OHG1 at Mountaineer Kennel Club, at Crawford County KC Glens again featured in the Owner Handler Group with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen being pulled in number four and over in California Finnabair Caatskill Bring It On at Broc Rua was OHG3 twice. Bucks County KC saw Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea get the nod for BOB whilst at Fort St Clair KC it was Kilkenny’s Middleton Irish Spirit.

Brains were busy as well as beauty. Eili earned her Novice Barn Hunt RATN & Jeff Dairiki’s news is that Ciarán and Quinn each earned their Barn Hunt RATCHX4 titles and there is news of “Pepper”. She was running FastCat at Brevard KC and earned her BCAT title. The Brains round up is always done with call names but registered names are liked for the first mention so Pepper….who are you?

Spreading the word in early March

Glen of Imaal Terrier people; showing is in their blood.

In Germany it’s been a very nice couple of shows for Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice with Best of Breed at Monchengladbach and Groningen. A Lithuanian weekend away for Kennel Glenrosedale  “Our catch of three days in Vilnius Int. Dog Shows. Glenrosedale team had a great success in all shows. We have now two new Lithuanian Champions Doris (Glenrosedale Banrion Ros Croi) and Aatu (Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo), one Lithuanian Junior Champion Elli (Glenrosedale Dubheasa Darina). Aatu will be also qualified for International Beauty Champion C.I.B. Doris was BOS all three days in row, Aatu was BOB twice as well Elli was twice Junior BOS. Doris and Aatu are also Lithuanian Winners 2018″. On the 3rd day Gleann Indico Indy was Best of Breed. The Danish Terrier Club saw MacCormac Setna Sithbacc representing Glens in the Group ring.

Results from the Covered Bridge Cluster (what a great name again) in Oregon and thanks to Kate Flack for writing them out. Friday Ciaran (Keadeen’s Blue Boy For Bluesette) went BOB/BOBOH/OHG3. Stella (Keadeen’s Second Star from the Right) BOS, Emmett (Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas) SEL, Miles (Keadeen’s Kind of Blue) WD. (Under judge Jacqueline Stacy.) Saturday: Emmet BOB/G3, Eili (Daulton’s Eili From Emerald Isle) BOW/BBEG3, Stella BOS, Ciarán SEL, Miles WD. (Judge Dale Simmons) Sunday: Stella BOB, Miles BOW, Ciarán BOS/BOBOH, Emmet SEL DOG, Eili WB. (Judge Troy Clifford Dargin). Back to backs at Tallmadge Ohio was  BOB x2, and Gp3 Saturday for Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea with Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow Best Opposite both days and owner Handler Group 4 on Sunday

Well done indeed everybody!

..and we’re back!

What have we missed? It must have been something good as there were over 600 visitors on the 9/10 of February. If you were one of them do let us know what you were looking for-we still might be able to help.

Well “the biggie” of the AKC is gone and done with a triumph for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. Taylor had certainly had a good run pre the event with two Group 4s and numbers 15 & 16 Group 1s. He celebrated his Westminster win with two Group 2s and a Group 3 on his return to Florida. Best Opposite to him in New York was Tipperary American Girl. Ber-D-Mar Sweet William o’Shea was picking up BOBs all over but the best named place must surely be Northern Neck KC of Virginia! Kate Flack was also out with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas notching up 3 x BOb as well as 2 Owner Handler placements.

Finland doesn’t stop for the darker months. Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was busy picking up Junior Championships in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. At Turku International Dog Show Best of Breed was awarded to Gleann Una Noonan with Rosears Master of the House Best Dog. Lahti Puppy Show saw Madra Athas Ceinlys Chead Ghra took a tremendous Group 2 award. Kajani Show was a BOB for Finnabair North American Nebulon with Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Bitch.

We weren’t as quiet as we usually are with Manchester now being in the “closed” period. Best of Breed was Boudivella Tegan with Romainville Becks Blue with Zippor Best Dog. Pajantick Hot Totty was Best Puppy. West Midlands Terrier had Jeonty Minnie MeMe BOB, Golden Spurs Reserve Best of Breed and Jeonty Letty Be Magic Best Puppy. Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire saw Amhard High Flyer getting the nod for Best of Breed and Amhard Manhatten was Reserve as well as Best Puppy. There aren’t a lot of Glen of Imaal Terriers in Scotland so showing is done in the highly competitive Variety classes but Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae is certainly getting noticed. A Puppy Group 4 was excellent but then at Coatbridge, Airdrie & District BAVNSC Terrier, Terrier G1, Terrier Puppy G1 and Best Puppy In Show were all added to her precocious bow.

Jeonty Junior Fire and Ice was “The Man” in Eindhoven and he did it again at Gent as well as being pulled in the Group. Boudivella Osca also made the trip over and as Junior is still that, a junior, he picked up the CACIB.

The brains of the breed were not being rested. Quite a few Rally qualifications have been won but two ladies send the BIG news for Glens.Ginny spent two recent weekends having fun at AKC Scent Work trials.  She finished her Novice Buried & Interior titles to add to her already completed Exterior & Container titles, becoming the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn an overall AKC Scent Work Novice (SWN) title!  She also earned a Container Novice Elite title (SCNE) by qualifying for the 10th time in that class. Qualifying runs were also received in the Advanced Interior & Advanced Exterior classes (4th place)!   Louise sends news of Tula “Here’s to Tula who earned her Elite Division Level 1 Nose Work title today-another first for Glens. She makes me proud every day”.

Very well done and huge congratulations!! Don’t forget to send along anything you think may be of interest to the worldwide Glen family.
