Just wow!!!!

Last week it was easy to decide which Glen of Imaal Terrier should lead the “honour roll” round up and it’s easy this week as well. Please everybody, stand and applaud Billy Tow vom Au Deich who, at the Dutch Championship Show, took Best Dog for the 7th time and Best In Show for the 4th. Oh yes, he was Best Veteran as well. Best Bitch was his kennel mate McJake’s Aivy. Another Veteran Best of Breed was Abberann Conan who added yet another ribbon to his tally at The National. Best Bitch came from the other end of the scale when Jeonty Jyn A New Hope got the nod from Junior. It was worth the trip for the Abberanns as Cosmic Cowboy was Reserve Dog & Reach For The Stars Ryanne Reserve Best Bitch. Best Puppy Amhard Off The Cuff

Nice to hear from Australia where “Neuter” titles are on offer. Taufield Queen of Tara was Runner Up Neuter and Best Neuter at her last two shows which gives her 96 out the 100 points needed. The European Winners in Dortmund saw Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice increasing his reputation with Best of Breed, Fire & Ice Naomi was Best Bitch. In Ireland Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore represented Glens in the Group ring. Gleann is an affix that regularly appears here but this week the first mention is from Canada and Dartmouth Kennel Club with a Group 4 and two Group 2s for Gleann Holy Hannah. Crossing the sea to Scandinavia and Jarvenpaa with Gleann Indico Indy as BOB and Gleann Halloween Hattie Best Opposite. Oulu Nordic Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with the big ribbon and Gleann Halloween Hattie as Best Bitch. Gleann Ho Ho Hogan was Best of Breed at Seinajoki Group Show.

In America at Ravenna Kennel Club Tipperary That Girl was Best of Breed with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen Best Dog at one show with the results repeated at another but it was G4 for American Girl & BBEG2 for Sailor John. Klanath Dog Fanciers had a back to back set of shows and Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas had a OHG2 and OHG3 whilst Keadeen’s Something Like A Phenomenon was Best Opposite both days but she went one better with a fabulous Puppy Group 1. Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight at Chambersburg KC Shows also registered the Glen in the Group ring with a OHG2 and a G4.

You all do us proud!!!

We’re still showing…

It’s calmed down a bit before the big Scandinavian Winner Shows and the Eukanuba National Championships in Florida but some Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. A result that came in too late for last week were successes Thanksgiving Weekend at Holyoke KC with a OHG4 for Keadeen’s Due Diligence with Liberty, a BBE G2 for Liberty’s Confidence and a 4-6 month puppy Group 2 for Liberty’s Serenity.  LIberty’s Amity took a 4-6 month puppy group 4 at Springfield Kennel Club. Greater Clark County KC also features the 4-6 month puppy class and out of the 11 in the Terrier Group 6 were Glens! Keadeen’s Luck Be A Lady was 2nd in the Group and BOB. Brother Keadeen’s By Happy Chance was Best Opposite.

It was 2 days of shows in Germany with Billy Tow vom Au Deich taking BOB and Best Veteran on Saturday with My Dear Fellow Brunhilde de CoCo Best Bitch. On Sunday Hadberg Xzibit took Best of Breed with McJakes Aivy Best Bitch.

The “brains” side was having a great weekend. Jeff Dairiki writes “Ciarán refused to tunnel until he had found all three of his rats, then tunneled all on his own. Classy way to earn your RATCHX3, a great time this weekend at Valley Dog Sports’ new digs!” Kelli Whitfield also sends news of her two boys “3 new AKC scent work titles for Winston (handled by Mark’s niece) novice containers, Novice interiors and novice buried hides! Plus 2 advanced Q’s in containers. Also two new titles for Griffin – Novice containers and novice buried hides. This is a new sport for AKC!”

Congratulations everybody!

Jeff Dairiki reports that last weekend Ciaran (Keadeen Blue Boy of Bluesette) finished his weekend with 2xBOB, 2xBOS, 4xOHBOB & 1OHG4.

At Hyvinkaa All Breed Show Pearytail Candy McCoy led the Glens with Highlander Dream Casper Best Dog. It was another “lady” who led the way at Sligo when Abberann Reach For The Stars Ruari was BOB over Abberann Conan. At the July Klub Sieger exhibition Best of Breed and Best Veteran was Billy Tow vom Au Deich and  Fear Fiuntair Candy Keva Best Opposite

And finally….how did THE day go at Swineshead? Rather well actually. It was a bit dull but nothing like the rain forecast. The ultimate sin was committed as the cake stall ran out. All the raffle prizes went and 30, yes 30, folk were along the tables for supper. So it was alright then.

3 Club Shows, 5 Group placements and Midland Counties closing!

Good weekend with 3 Glen of Imaal Terrier Club shows so a chance to see lots of the breed together; to the USA though first. Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney, on a four show weekend, took 3 Best of Breeds and two Owner Handler Group 3 placements. She was actually Best Opposite to Liberty’s Padraig at South Shore but he is professionally handled so not eligible for OH Group. Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton had 2 BOBs and Gp3 and Gp4 OH at the Licking River Shows. Okay it’s only a Match but nice to hear of a Glen baby taking Group 1 and then Best In Match, obviously a “together” youngster.

At Porvoo Show Best of Breed was Finnabair North American Nebulon with Gleann Nora taking Best Bitch and Best Veteran. Now the club shows. The Glen Association of Ireland (held in conjunction with the Irish Breeds Show) saw Abberann Conan take BOB, Best  Veteran, Best Veteran at the Irish Breeds Show and to finish up took Reserve Best In Show. Abberann Ennya was Best Bitch. The Irish Sporting Glen Club had Patrick Dooner judge and he awarded Best of Breed to Bailielands Dodger at Stiubhard and Best Bitch to Glencroga Pretty Cara.

Secretary Malinka Lingmont sends the following about the Dutch Club Show:-

Saturday September 12th the Dutch Glen of Imaal terrier Association held their annual clubmatch.

As the Association has its 20th anniversary Mrs. Jean Rogers was invited to judge the dogs.

There were 33 entries, only two absent.

Best of Breed was Billy Tow von Au Deich

BOS was his daughter, Fear Fiuntair Candy Keva.

Best puppy: Manor of Choclat Dew Nina

Best veteran: Spirit of Ireland Angel.

A special award, the Wicklow Wisselbeker, was initiated this year because of the 20th anniversary and is to be given the best dog bred and owned by its breeder. It will be handed out every year at the clubmatch. The names of the winners will be engraved on it.

This year it was mrs. Geesje Koops with her bitch Mystic Emma of Glens Delight to receive this award for the first time. Congratulations!

Well done everybody!!

Online entries for Midland Counties closes today. Terrier Day is Sunday 25th October and the judge of Glen of Imaal Terriers is Jack Watson

Dutch Club Show

Although the weather forecast wasn’t too good for Saturday 17th September, rain and thunder was expected, we kept it dry and even had good conditions during our annual outdoor Championship Clubmatch. 30 Glens, mainly from Holland but also from Germany and Belgium were judged by Mrs. Elly Weijenborg-Weggemans. Not an easy job as the contestants were all in top condition.

Last year’s winners changed places. Billy Tow vom Au Deich (owned by C. Geisler) became Clubwinner and BOB, Fear Fiuntair Bwreena (owned by C. Meijs) ended BOS.

Eigul’s Eamon of Fir na Grian (owned by C. Huybregts) became best puppy. His sister Eigul’s Easnadh of Fir na Grian (owned by R. Rossen & M. Bockting) became second best puppy.
