Group placings galore!!

Glen of Imaal Terriers are certainly getting noticed in Groups at the moment.

In the USA Kilkennys Across the Universe at Setanta took a Group 1 at Kokomo Kennel Club, Keadeen Second Star To the Right a Group 3 at Coeur D’Alene and Finnabair Double D friend of a Friend a Gp 4 at Rhineland Kennel Club. The Owner Handler Groups are turning into a positive triumph for the breed with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas annexing BOTH a Owner Handler Best In Show and Reserve Best In Show. Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit also notched up an OHG1 as did Tipperary American Girl!

Canada may have only recently recognised Glens but recognised they certainly are with a Group 3, Group 4 and Best Puppy in Group for Gleann Holy Hannah and Groups 2 and 3 for Abberann Phelan.

In Europe there may not be the Group placings but there are certainly the dogs getting shown. At the Danish Terrier Club Gleann Cute Cocoon was Best of Breed and the Estonian Winners was a success for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with Gleann Damn Daisy Best Opposite. Helsinki International was a win for Gleann Cotton Cody with Damn Daisy once again Best Bitch. She made it three in a row at the Latvian Winners, this time to Gleann Bigwig. Turri Show was a BOB for Gleann Dear Dandelion and Best Dog was Gleann Eager Edgar

The UK saw a run of SKC, Bath, Southern Counties and the Glen Association Open Show with the top places being shared around. Scottish Kennel Club was a BOB for Amhard High Flyer with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking the Bitch CC. Bath was Golden Spur and Romainville Whistle Dixie with Southern Counties seeing the first bitch BOB with Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Pajantick Razamatazz Best Opposite. The Glen Association saw Amhard High Flyer take home Best in Show with Reserve Best in Show going to the Reserve Best Dog Rollo The Great at his first ever official dog show! Best Bitch there was Romainville Razzamatazz. Best Puppy was Boudivella Tegan with Best Veteran Donvaleset Domino.

Besides the shows Glens were also at Burghley (courtesy of Nicki Atkin) for the Living Heritage Fair and Ciarin and Quinn were adding titles behind their names with RATCHX and Junior Earthdog. Monique sends special news of Ginny……qualififying for the 3rd time in Novice Buildings so earning her title today at the Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) trial in Westford, MA! She also learned two new scents this week, Anise & Clove, and was able to detect them during the Target Odor Tests.  “Star” though of this whole round up is summed up in owner Louise Lopez’s own words “I am so very, very proud of Tula! She earned her NW3 Elite title in Corvallis, Oregon today. This means she’s passed Nose Work 3 with a perfect score three times and is now qualified to compete at the Elite Level. She’s the first Glen to earn this title-such a wonderful girl”

Fabulous couple of weeks everybody and congratulations to all!

Busy weekend for beauty AND brains!

Busy weekend for Glen of Imaal Terrier people with two shows at the same venue on the same day, something well known in the States, but not in the UK. The EFG Open Show was held in the morning and Birmingham Gundog & Terrier in the afternoon with respective entries of just over and just under 30-the Glens giving the biggest entry in the Terrier Group at G&T. EFG Judge Roger Cruden certainly found as type he liked with Best In Show going to Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Best Dog (RBIS) to her brother Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty. Their dam Brockland Belle Bregorrey was Best Veteran overall and her brother Brockland Blackadder at Malsville was Veteran Dog Winner. Best Puppy went to Romainville Razzamatazz with her brother, Roaminville Becks Blue for Zippor (nice to see that affix back in the Glen ring) Puppy Dog. The well admired clock went home with Cresta Garner, the ring number draw was won by Jean Rogers and the catalogue prize went to Gee Noone. At Gundog & Terrier Tony Hadley awarded BOB to Romainville Billy Wizz, BOS to Jeonty Maybee Daysee and Best Puppy to Jeonty Mini MeMe who made the cut in the Terrier Group.

At Tallinn Winners2016 BOB was Gleann Cotton Cody with BOS going to Gleann Una Noonan whilst at Vassa International Ungus MacGuire kept the Gleann flag flying with Best of Breed with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Bitch.

Griffin (Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystoke) continued to show his abilities in the coursing field with getting his 10th & 11th coursing legs and so his Coursing Ability Advanced Title. Monique Oliver writes “What an amazing weekend! Oliver participated in 2 Performance Scent Dogs trials, Saturday in eastern PA and Sunday in MA. He qualified in 5 classes, coming in first in Excellent Exteriors both days, second in Excellent Distance & Excellent Buildings, and third in Advanced Speed earning a title in that class. The big news is my Oliver and another dog became the first dogs to ever earn the overall Advanced level PSD title!!!”

Huge congratulations to everybody

A P STEPHENSON(Judge)

Just one show this weekend.

Thanks for sending results from Glen of Imaal Terriers around the world but, for once, we’re just staying in the United Kingdom and at just one show. At Darlington Championship Show Peter Bakewell adjudicated and gave the Dog CC (with BOB) to Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty with the Bitch ticket going to Bregorrey Madam Defiance. The two Reserve CCs were respectively Donvaleset Liffy at Arkview and Romainville Uptown Girl. Best Puppy was Boudivella Oscar. So why does this need sole billing?

By awarding the two Challenge Certificates to the Glens he did two new Champions were made up and that made an incredible four from one litter, three here and one in America. Brockland Belle Bregorrey was mated, for some, rather late in life-she made up to Champion even later-as a CRD3 test was being waited for due to her pedigree. It can only be mused as to what may have been produced by her if it had happened earlier.

The sire of this now noteworthy litter was also a Veteran but Jeonty Wannabe Buster was a “dog with a record”. Already the sire of 3 Champions, at the time of the mating, as well as being a multi Champion himself it is so, so fitting that Peter took his tally of top progeny to a number that will probably never be equalled for a long time. Such an honoured tribute to a dog that joined “The Family” just three days previous to the show. We congratulate everybody at Darlington but Bussie it is your memory saluted.

Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty, Bregorrey Madam Defiance

Beauty and Brains

We’re used to hearing about Glen of Imaal Terrier siblings taking awards at the same show or in the same area but what about different countries? At Welsh Kennel Club Best of Breed was Bregorrey Madam Defiance with the dog ticket (and Best Puppy) going to Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty whilst over at the Baltic Winners and the Baltic Terrier Show in Estonia brother Gleann Dynamite Mike was BOB both days. Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann took Best Bitch to him on both days. It was a double weekend also for Marfidal Emousonia who took home the big rosette at both Kouvola and Heinola. Marfidal Spsrkele of Meomodo was Best Bitch to him at Kouvola.

At the Arctic Circle Dog Show (how about that for a name) MacNallys Gracie was Best of Breed and at Tralee, the final show of the Irish Circuit, Abberann Phelan was BOB, and a very nice Group 3, with Ballyclare May Best Opposite.

A breed first is proudly announced by Anne-Marie Pember with her Kera taking the Barn Hunt Master title and Mary Householder is equally proud to tell everybody that Hannah has obtained her coursing ability title.

Well done everybody.

HANS T LEHTINEN-Judge

So as it’s Monday….

…what have Glen of Imaal Terriers been doing?

Belatedly from last weekend the two Irish International Shows. On Saturday Green Star Dog was Abberran Karl with Green Star Bitch and Best of Breed to PoachersMoon Sissy McGinty. Sunday was a repeat of the Dog GS but BOB (and Bitch GS) was Abberan Enya. This weekend had Laiquendi’s Jillian Griffith James Best of Breed at Dortmund and so becoming a European Champion. At South Wales Kennel Association Best of Breed was awarded to Bregorrey Madam Defiance with Romainville Typhoon taking the Dog Challenge Certificate and Best Puppy Romainville Rock On Ruby.

Monique Anthony writes news of the fabulous (nearly 14 years old) Oliver:- Oliver had fun today at a Barn Hunt trial in Portland, CT. He was in the Senior class and had 3½ minutes to locate 4 tubes containing live rats hiddenin hay bales. With bales piled 3 levels high, 3 dirty litter tubes (without rats) to trick up the dogs, and many hiding locations, it was a very challenging course. He had already qualified twice in this class at trials a month ago. He ran round finding rat after rat after rat and qualified for the 3rd time earning his Senior Barn Hunt Title. There is a possibility he is only the 2nd dog in the country to earn the RATS title but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Congratulations to everybody!

And into September…

Already three-quarters of the year but Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. Two Best of Breed results from Finland with Mudmax Ballinabrocky and Gleann Ungus MacGuire. A Junior European Winner from Geneva in Gleann Aine of Antrim and BOB to Abberann Bearnard. Finally from the UK a Best of Breed for Bregorrey Madam Defiance.

Well done all!!
