Busy weekend for beauty AND brains!

Busy weekend for Glen of Imaal Terrier people with two shows at the same venue on the same day, something well known in the States, but not in the UK. The EFG Open Show was held in the morning and Birmingham Gundog & Terrier in the afternoon with respective entries of just over and just under 30-the Glens giving the biggest entry in the Terrier Group at G&T. EFG Judge Roger Cruden certainly found as type he liked with Best In Show going to Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Best Dog (RBIS) to her brother Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty. Their dam Brockland Belle Bregorrey was Best Veteran overall and her brother Brockland Blackadder at Malsville was Veteran Dog Winner. Best Puppy went to Romainville Razzamatazz with her brother, Roaminville Becks Blue for Zippor (nice to see that affix back in the Glen ring) Puppy Dog. The well admired clock went home with Cresta Garner, the ring number draw was won by Jean Rogers and the catalogue prize went to Gee Noone. At Gundog & Terrier Tony Hadley awarded BOB to Romainville Billy Wizz, BOS to Jeonty Maybee Daysee and Best Puppy to Jeonty Mini MeMe who made the cut in the Terrier Group.

At Tallinn Winners2016 BOB was Gleann Cotton Cody with BOS going to Gleann Una Noonan whilst at Vassa International Ungus MacGuire kept the Gleann flag flying with Best of Breed with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Bitch.

Griffin (Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystoke) continued to show his abilities in the coursing field with getting his 10th & 11th coursing legs and so his Coursing Ability Advanced Title. Monique Oliver writes “What an amazing weekend! Oliver participated in 2 Performance Scent Dogs trials, Saturday in eastern PA and Sunday in MA. He qualified in 5 classes, coming in first in Excellent Exteriors both days, second in Excellent Distance & Excellent Buildings, and third in Advanced Speed earning a title in that class. The big news is my Oliver and another dog became the first dogs to ever earn the overall Advanced level PSD title!!!”

Huge congratulations to everybody

Keeping on going….

The biggie of the results to catch up with has to be Westminster (hopefully the 180 odd who looked on here last Tuesday/Wednesday weren’t too disappointed we were still on Winter break). GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned made it an incredible three BOBs on the trot so it just has to be one word, besides congratulations, WOW. Best Opposite Sex was his daughter CH Tipperary That Girl. Two Selects were awarded and they were the brother & sister CH Cormac McCarthy & CH Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife with sire GCH Rainbow Springs Wicklow Warrior of Ber-D-Mar taking the Award of Merit so judge Ron Menaker could certainly see families and more than some may realise. Ned and the dam of the Ber-D-Mar siblings are brother & sister. Ned’s grandsire was the brother of Wicklow Warrior’s grandsire (English bred by a German dog) so besides family we are talking international! Thanks to Jane Fenton for the photographs

Back in January Kathleen O’Donnell (Australia) wrote “Tara (Taufield Queen Of Tara) 6mths first show in Minor got her bitch challenge and BOB then went on to win Minor of group she was so good and stood so well for me she performed well in General Specials (Best in Show) I was so proud of my girl today”. Also in January GCH Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney took BOB/BOBOH and Group 4 at Merrimack Valley KC. The group of shows that make up the Northern Ohio Winter Classic saw two Best of Breeds for Daulton’s Rory & one for Kilkenny’s Granite Aine of Claddagh. At Erie Ch Daulton’s Dark Lily of Caradoc was BOB and then got the nod for Group 3. Two more Group placings for GCH Abberann Torcan, a Gp2 in Minnesota and a Group 4 at Osh Kosh.

The Finns don’t notice Winter so are out and about as usual! A Group 1 for Gleann Dear Dandelion and a Group 1 and BIS4 for Pearytail Cruella de Gleann at Kajaani Puppy Show. At Turkuu International Gleann Cotton Candy was BOB with Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann BOS and obtaining her Finnish Championship. She followed this up with BOB at Parkano Group Show and then took a fabulous Reserve Best In Show. Pearytail Candy McCoy was BOB at Lahti Puppy Show and then went on to Group 3.

In Germany at Chemnitz Fire & Ice Moonraker was twice BOB and at Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire Jeonty Diamond Ring was Best of Breed. In Denmark Gleann Willy the Whale became a Danish Champion. A new Norwegian Champion came into being in MacNallys Glenna-Roisin and at Gent BOB was awarded to Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty

The mighty Oliver doesn’t care that it’s Winter as he earned an “Excellent Containers” title at the  Performance Scent Dogs trial in New Hampshire early February.

A great few weeks everybody-very, very well done.

Judge: Peter E. Bakewell

Just one show this weekend.

Thanks for sending results from Glen of Imaal Terriers around the world but, for once, we’re just staying in the United Kingdom and at just one show. At Darlington Championship Show Peter Bakewell adjudicated and gave the Dog CC (with BOB) to Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty with the Bitch ticket going to Bregorrey Madam Defiance. The two Reserve CCs were respectively Donvaleset Liffy at Arkview and Romainville Uptown Girl. Best Puppy was Boudivella Oscar. So why does this need sole billing?

By awarding the two Challenge Certificates to the Glens he did two new Champions were made up and that made an incredible four from one litter, three here and one in America. Brockland Belle Bregorrey was mated, for some, rather late in life-she made up to Champion even later-as a CRD3 test was being waited for due to her pedigree. It can only be mused as to what may have been produced by her if it had happened earlier.

The sire of this now noteworthy litter was also a Veteran but Jeonty Wannabe Buster was a “dog with a record”. Already the sire of 3 Champions, at the time of the mating, as well as being a multi Champion himself it is so, so fitting that Peter took his tally of top progeny to a number that will probably never be equalled for a long time. Such an honoured tribute to a dog that joined “The Family” just three days previous to the show. We congratulate everybody at Darlington but Bussie it is your memory saluted.

And the first critique of 2014 is……

West Midlands Terrier Society-Open Show 7th December 2013

Glen of Imaal Terriers

Thank you to WMTS for the invitation to judge and the exhibitors for your support. A well run show and a very pleasant day out.

Junior: 1st Ellerton Dusky Beauty. Brindle full of character. Good bone and structure. Sound in movement, should make up well as she matures. 2nd Jeonty MeMe Fern. Wheaten. Nice head and expression with sound confirmation. Moves well. Shows great promise for the future.

Post Graduate: 1st Pajantick Star Trooper. Wheaten. Powerfully built young dog. Good head and front. Slightly light on hindquarters but still moves well and should grow into a well-balanced sound dog. Reserve BOB. 2nd Jeonty Red Clover. Wheaten. A typical glen of right type. Now a veteran but still full of character. She lost out to youth today but moved well and was a pleasure to handle.

Open: 1st Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty. Brindle. Solid well put together male. Moved with drive and purpose. Good bone and shown very fit. BOB. 2nd Ch Jeonty Maybe Daysee. Wheaten. Head sound bite and good expression. Well-presented and moved out well. A very close decision.

Busy few days!

A lot of Glen of Imaal Terrier showing over the past few days. Starting in the UK Leeds Championship Show had Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty taking Best Dog and Best of Breed with his kennel mate Jeonty MeMe Fern being awarded Best Bitch. Leeds only has one Challenge Certificate on offer and that went to Victor with the Reserve CC going to the Reserve Dog Kirikee Ronan O’Gara.

In Finland the HKI/Eukanuba Show saw Abberann Fagan being awarded BOB with Gleann Rabarber Drom Best Opposite and Best Veteran. America had a cluster of shows in Ohio and Best of Breed on all 3 days was GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton (taking Group 3 one of the days). Best Opposite to him was Ch Tipperary American Girl, Ch Daultons Rosalee and GCH Daultons Emerald Green respectively. Due to the high number of professional handlers and multi-owners in the States they run a competition not known in Europe, “Owner Handler”.  Tipperary American Girl was Group 3 and Group 1 in the Terrier Owner Handler Group. Also in America Henderson KC had GlenTyrs Lady Isabella at Castlerock as BOB.

Before doing the well-earned congratulations all round there has to be another mention. Wendy Tobijanski has been associated with Glens for a long, long time but over the weekend took the 50th BOB, and Group 4, with her Cesky. What a record!!

Lots of congratulations to everybody and it’s difficult, in such an illustrious list, to pick what pictures to use but in recognition of such an event it’ll have to be Wendy-shown below carrying her mother’s American Cocker Spaniel whilst a younger Brenda and Liz walk the Glens in.

and the winners are….

At the World Show in Hungary Best of Breed Glen of Imaal Terrier was Gleann Aine of Antrim whilst from America Laura Trainor shares the news of a good agility weekend. “Kylee finished her Open Jumpers Pref title.  We thought we had finished it earlier but figured out that our 3 Q’s were all under the same judge.  With her 4th Q we fulfill the more than one judge requirement.  She also earned a Q in Excellent Std Pref.  Niamh finished her Open FAST title.” Also on the World Show circuit the Interra and Budapest Shows saw Carrighglen Big Boy take Best of Breed, following on from the 7 titles obtained on the Adriatic Winners cluster the previous week.

In the UK it was the road to Scotland and Scottish Kennel Club. Glens welcomed a new Champion with Jeonty Maybee Daysee getting her third CC and Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty started on the trail with his first CC and Best of Breed. Best Puppy was Jeonty MeMe Fern and for the first time in a long while there were actually five Glen puppies at the show. Well done all!!
