The immortal St Patrick’s Day show in Ireland may have morphed into The Celtic Winners but it’s still the same thing so congratulations to the winning Glen of Imaal Terriers. As it’s St Patrick’s Day many thanks to Oliver & Mutley for celebrating on all our behalfs!
The Irish Celtic Winners show will always be St Patrick’s Day to some of us. Glen of Imaal Terrier Best of Breed was Abberann Karl with Best Bitch being awarded to Ch/Ir Ch Abberann Ennya. Karl then went onto Group 4 so congratulations to the Whites. Ch Finnabair Song O’ My Heart has been placed in a Group in the US already this year but is Karl the first in Europe for 2012?
The big three canine exhibitions at the start of the year for many are Westminster, Crufts and St. Patricks Day (Celtic Winners). Finally the entry is announced for Ireland and there will be 5 Glen of Imaal Terriers competing.
The St Patrick’s Day Show, now the Celtic Winners, saw Puppy Power in Glen of Imaal Terriers. Judge Mrs Heather Cox awarded the Dog Green Star and Best of Breed to 10 month old Abberann Torcan with his brother, Abberann Special Edition for Belwood, Reserve Dog. Best Bitch was Swedish & Slovenian Ch Abberann Tiffany with Reserve to Knockroe Shannon.
Torcan is looking like a boy to keep the Glen flag flying high as at not quite 7 months he was adult group 4 at the Dublin Dog Show Society Championship Show
Whether Glen of Imaal Terrier’s are resident in England, America, Sweden or wherever on March 17th a paw has to be raised to St Patrick-The Man. So as it is his day a mention must be given to the American Kennel Club tribute to Irish Breeds and this for all Muppet fans.
The Celtic Winners Show is on at The National Show Centre, Cloghran, so Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh and a useful phrase to have today (if memory serves)pionta Guiness, le do thoil
When the Irish Kennel Club became an FCI member the St. Patrick’s Day Show became the Celtic Winners; whatever it is called it is still quite an event in the Irish Show calendar!

Postal entries have now closed for the St Patrick’s Celtic Winners Show but the irish Kennel Club would like to remind everybody (not just Glen of Imaal Terrier owners) that they have until February 15th for online entries. Schedule and entry form can be downloaded at their website
The Schedules are available for the Celtic Winners (St Patrick’s Day) Show and the judge for Glen of Imaal Terriers is Ken Crockett.
After Crufts it was asked if Glen of Imaal Terriers were turning into a “3” breed? Yes we are! Yesterday was the Irish Kennel Club Celtic Winners Show (which will always be known as the St Patrick’s Day bash to people of a certain age) and Homer was Best of Breed which means he now adds CW ’09 to CW 07/08.
