GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

PD (1)

1 Harley’s Abberham Running Down A Dream. Very promising young man. Medium sizes as asked for and excellent strength and substance throughout for his age. Good head, eye and expression. Pleasing depth of chest, well sprung ribs and well developed hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Once he got into his stride moved well with a positive ground covering action, BP.

OD (3)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Oscar. Thought him very typical throughout. Best of heads with excellent strength of foreface. Strong muscular neck set in well placed shoulders, pleasing front, good bone and the best of feet. Firm body, good width of chest and correct topline and tailset. Powerful quarters that he used to advantage on the move. Good harsh cost, moved well fore and aft, CC & BOB.

2 Alstead’s Ch Golden Spurs. Another very impressive example of the breed. Good size with lovely bone and substance. Typical in head, good strength of jaw and a pleasing eye and expression. Excellent depth of chest, big ribs and a firm backline. Well rounded hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Best of coats, pleasing ground covering action on the move, Res.CC.

VB (1)

1 Harley’s Ch Donvaleset Brier. Very well made bitch, good shape with a very typical outlook. Well off for strength and substance throughout. Pleasing head, neat well set ears and a good eye and expression. Good body shape, firm topline and well made quarters. Positive mover, BV.

PB (1)

1 Hope’s Borderglens Rose. Very much a baby but of overall good make and shape. Good head and eye. Pleasing depth of chest for her age, nice spring of rib and well rounded hindquarters. In good coat. Was a little unsteady on the move but once she got into her stride moved well.

JB (3)

1 Forbes’ Jeonty Dreams A Dream With Karensbrae. Lovely young bitch who took your eye as soon as she entered the ring. Very well made throughout. Feminine outlook but has excellent strength and substance for her age. Good head, lovely eye and expression. Best of fronts standing on good legs and feet, well developed body and a good tailset and carriage. Moved soundly on a free and easy stride. Coat could be a tad harsher but on the day could not be denied top honours, CC.

2 Martell’s Jeonty Letty Be Magic. Another I liked a lot. See she is the litter sister of the winner and has many of her siblings qualities, just need to develop in body to complete the picture. Good make and shape. Pleasing head with good strength and a very typical outlook. Strong neck set in well placed shoulders, correct topline and well developed quarters for her age. Sound on the move.

3 Borderglens Rose.

LB (2)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan. Excellent strength and substance but still keeps a feminine outlook. Good head shape, strong jaw, big teeth and the best of expressions. Well made front assembly, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Nicely rounded hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Harsh coat and very positive on the move.

2 James & O’Brien’s Amhard Jessie Jay. Well made bitch who was close up to the winner. Good strength in head with a pleasing eye and expression. Muscular neck and a pleasing layback of shoulder. Firm body and topline that she kept on the move. Well muscled quarters. On the move could not match the winners attitude and verve.

OB (1)

1 Alstead’s Ch Sigrid Helga At Pantcottage. Very good bitch who was in excellent form on the day. Excellent strength and substance and has a very typical outlook. Good head shape, neat well set ears and the best of expressions. Lovely bone and feet, well developed body and nicely angulated hindquarters. Had her in my mind for top honours but in the final run off in the challenge was not as fluent as the young bitch and had to pay the price, Res CC.

Hardy’s Amhard Lightening Flash. Nice overall shape and good balance but needs more furnishings on the legs to complete the picture, a little playful on the move but when settled moved OK.

JD (1) 1. Tobijanski & Tobijanski’s Romainville Becks Blue for Zippor. Good head with dark eye, well set small ears, giving pleasing expression, nice front, deep chest and well made body, tended to be a bit stiff behind on the move.

Needs a little more attention to ring training as tended to stand a little wide in front, good head, nicely made body with well set tail, well angulated rear with good bend of stifle, in good coat, moved OK. 2. Driffield critique

Apologises for the lateness of this-somehow or other it had disappeared, in effect, down the back of the computer.

DRIFFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. Thank you for entering, three well presented Glen of Imaal Terriers. Would like to see an improvement in handling as this will help the judge in their assessment.

PD & JD. 1 Alstead’s Golden Spurs, raw but promising puppy, a bit erratic on the move but this should come with training & maturity. Good expression & head, scissor bite with a strong jaw. Nice dark eye, correct ear placement, strong neck going into well placed shoulders. Good topline when he does stand well set tail, acceptable rearend. RBD.

OD. 1 Ashcroft’s Rominville Typhoon, really pleased to see this dog today, although the owners have improved their grooming please watch the amount of hair left on his face. Strong jaw with good bite, once settled moved well driving round the ring. BOB.

PB & JB (0).

OB. 1 Ashcroft’s Rominville Moira, very unsettled but nice bitch, coat just coming through, good topline, with a well angulated backend. Stood well in profile. BB.

Darlington Critique

What a pleasure it was for me to award CCs to Glen of Imaal Terriers for the first time, although the breed are few numerically they are still strong in type & quality.

PGD: 1) Romainville Brannigan at Brockland. Wheaten, well balanced head without coarseness, pleasing eye, good reach of neck, clean front, good topline, moved well both ends, very showy & well presented, one to watch for the future. 2) Jeonty Highland Boy. Delight to go over, lovely head & expression, good spring of rib, moved & handled well.

LD: 1) Donvaleset Rebus. Handsome boy with good expression, pleasing neck & topline, well set & carried tail, moved out freely with such ease. 2) Jeonty Wannabe Bauer. Scores on quality & type, shade rangy & front action untidy. 3) Amhard Freebooter.

OD: 1) Ch & Int Ch Brockland Brayhead Lad. Personifies all that is best in the breed, size, balance, make, shape, & soundness of movement all appeal. Add to this correct coat & presentation in bandbox order, a great pleasure to judge. CC & BOB 2) Amhard Damson Sauce. Smart dog, well presented, moving out well, just lacked body of first. Res CC.

JB: 1) Winnie Wanna Make Music By Jeonty. Smart, feminine in head & body, good eye & dentition, put altogether in action, tailset is not her fortune. 2) Romainville Kyla. Good head & eye, sound construction, moved & presented well.

PGB: 1) Amhard Feeling Cool. Lovely outline & feminine, has that head, eye, expression, sound in overall construction, presented & moved okay. 2) Romainville Tigan. Lovely head, sound body, correct topline, put down & showed well.

OB: 1) Brockland Belle Bregorrey. Feminine brindle bitch who is so well made, excellent head properties, good coat of correct texture, never stopped showing, pleasure to award her the CC. I was told later this was her second CC, good luck for the third. 2) Amhard Extra Spice. Nicely constructed bitch, good outline & is well balanced, plenty of bone, relaxed action, moved well enough to win her the Reserve CC.
