GLEN OF IMAAL JUDGE DARLINGTON 17

LD (3)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Oscar. Strong, masculine head with powerful jaw. Good forehand with well laid shoulders, slight bow and good bone. Typical topline and good set on. Shown in excellent coat. Moved very well.

2 Rogers’ Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty (Imp). Not quite the coat texture of the winner but he too has a good head and expression, decent forehand with good bone and nicely padded feet. Sound and free moving.

3 Hardy’s Amhard Justin Thyme

OD (4,1)

1 Alstead’s Ch Golden Spurs. An impressive exhibit with a grand head, dark eye, good ears and powerful jaw and muzzle. Strong moderate neck, well laid shoulders and good bone. Well ribbed with a strong, slightly arched loin. Impressed on the move. Shown in excellent coat & condition. CC & BOB.

2 Hogburn’s Pajantick Razamataz. Very typical and pleasing for balance. Good width of skull, well placed eyes and ears. Well bodied with muscular, nicely angulated hind quarters. Very easy on the move with plenty of drive. Reserve CC.

3 Hardy’s Amard High Flyer

MPB (2)

1 Rogers’ Jeonty Jyn A New Hope. A smart, well balanced youngster, good breadth and length of skull, strong foreface. Strong wide chest with well laid shoulders. Shown in a good jacket and her maturity of body gave her the edge today.

2 George’s Romainville Rock On Lizzie. Less finished than the winner but she too has an attractive, typical head and expression. Good harsh topcoat. Strong loin. Sound and she displayed an effortless, free moving gait.

JB (2,1)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan. Good sized skull, strong jaw, pleasing eye. Good breadth of chest, decent forehand with good bone. Well ribbed with strong loin giving typical topline. Good set on. Very good profile action, just a little untidy going away from me.

LB (3)

1 George’s A Romainville Whistle Dixie. Lovely substance, type and balance. Good breadth of skull with neat well set ears. Strong jaw. Good ribbing and short strong loin. Impressed on the move with a very easy driving action. Good double coat. Reserve CC.

2 James & O’brien’s Amhard Jessie Jay. Pleasing, typical head and expression with dark, well set eyes. Typical topline. Good set on. Maybe a little too well ribbed! Good quarters and she moved out with some drive. A lovely character.

3 Hardy and Tune’s Amhard Jeez Louise

OB (1)

1 Hannington’s Romainville Uptown Girl. Very typical and well balanced with good breadth of skull, lovely dark eye and good ears. Decent forehand with slight bow and well padded feet. Strong loin and good rib with typical topline. Moved out well. CC, her third I was told, congratulations.

Glen of Imaal Terrier

PD (2) 1.Hogburn’s Pajantick Razamataz. Well constructed throughout demonstrating strength and substance without coarseness, well defined head, good mouth, good front and feet, strong body, coat coming on well, elegant on the move. BP. 2. Hardy’s Amhard Lightening Flash. Nice overall shape and good balance but needs more furnishings on the legs to complete the picture, a little playful on the move but when settled moved OK.

JD (1) 1. Tobijanski & Tobijanski’s Romainville Becks Blue for Zippor. Good head with dark eye, well set small ears, giving pleasing expression, nice front, deep chest and well made body, tended to be a bit stiff behind on the move.

PGD (1) 1. Hardy’s Amhard Justin Thyme. Nice head proportions with good width of skull and strong jaw, large white teeth with good bite, nice body, held topline and good profile on the move.

LD (4.1) 1. Alstead’s Golden Spurs. Nice overall balance and good shape throughout, liked head and ears, well bodied with well sprung ribs , parallel rear movement with drive. 2. Roger’s Gleann Dynamo at Jeonty. Nice overall appearance and neat outline and moved with purpose, but preferred head of 1. 3. Hannington’s Boudivella Oscar.

OD (4.1) 1. George & Sullivan’s Ch Romainville Billy Whizz. No denying title in front of this boy’s name and a very worthy example, liked overall size, shape and appearance, just a little let down today but coat not being at it’s best, very sound mover. Dog CC and BOB. 2. Hogburn’s Pajantick Star Trooper. Well made dog, solid all over and lots to like, well handled to get the most out of him. Res Dog CC. 3. Howarth’s Donvaleset Liffy at Arkview.

PB (1) 1. Wither’s Patjantick Rockahula. Good basic shape but let herself down on the move and held tail down, coat in good order for age, just needs a little more confidence.

JB (1) 1. Rogers’ Jeonty Minnie Meme. Nice feminine head, well set eyes and ears, muscular neck, well bodied but overall appearance detracted by lack of leg furnishings, when deciding to put it all in moved with a fluid action.

PGB(2) 1. James & O’Brien’s Amhard Jessy Jay. Needs a little more attention to ring training as tended to stand a little wide in front, good head, nicely made body with well set tail, well angulated rear with good bend of stifle, in good coat, moved OK. 2. Hardy & Tune’s Arhard Jeez Louise.  Sound expression and good length of foreface, nice width of head, well proportioned body, not in best of coats and not using tail on the move.

LB (1) 1. George & Sullivan’s Romainville Jean Genie. Very attractive bitch and liked overall shape and balance, well made head, dark eye, small well set ears, strong neck, well bodied, coat in good order, natural and free mover. Bitch CC.

OB (2.1) 1. George, Garnham & George’s Romainville Fade to Grey. Nice overall appearance but not always using ears to advantage, good head, well made shoulders, good body shape, in good coat, moved soundly. Res Bitch CC.

Driffield critique

Apologises for the lateness of this-somehow or other it had disappeared, in effect, down the back of the computer.

DRIFFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. Thank you for entering, three well presented Glen of Imaal Terriers. Would like to see an improvement in handling as this will help the judge in their assessment.

PD & JD. 1 Alstead’s Golden Spurs, raw but promising puppy, a bit erratic on the move but this should come with training & maturity. Good expression & head, scissor bite with a strong jaw. Nice dark eye, correct ear placement, strong neck going into well placed shoulders. Good topline when he does stand well set tail, acceptable rearend. RBD.

OD. 1 Ashcroft’s Rominville Typhoon, really pleased to see this dog today, although the owners have improved their grooming please watch the amount of hair left on his face. Strong jaw with good bite, once settled moved well driving round the ring. BOB.

PB & JB (0).

OB. 1 Ashcroft’s Rominville Moira, very unsettled but nice bitch, coat just coming through, good topline, with a well angulated backend. Stood well in profile. BB.

What a pleasure it was for me to award CCs to Glen of Imaal Terriers for the first time, although the breed are few numerically they are still strong in type & quality.

PGD: 1) Romainville Brannigan at Brockland. Wheaten, well balanced head without coarseness, pleasing eye, good reach of neck, clean front, good topline, moved well both ends, very showy & well presented, one to watch for the future. 2) Jeonty Highland Boy. Delight to go over, lovely head & expression, good spring of rib, moved & handled well.

LD: 1) Donvaleset Rebus. Handsome boy with good expression, pleasing neck & topline, well set & carried tail, moved out freely with such ease. 2) Jeonty Wannabe Bauer. Scores on quality & type, shade rangy & front action untidy. 3) Amhard Freebooter.

OD: 1) Ch & Int Ch Brockland Brayhead Lad. Personifies all that is best in the breed, size, balance, make, shape, & soundness of movement all appeal. Add to this correct coat & presentation in bandbox order, a great pleasure to judge. CC & BOB 2) Amhard Damson Sauce. Smart dog, well presented, moving out well, just lacked body of first. Res CC.

JB: 1) Winnie Wanna Make Music By Jeonty. Smart, feminine in head & body, good eye & dentition, put altogether in action, tailset is not her fortune. 2) Romainville Kyla. Good head & eye, sound construction, moved & presented well.

PGB: 1) Amhard Feeling Cool. Lovely outline & feminine, has that head, eye, expression, sound in overall construction, presented & moved okay. 2) Romainville Tigan. Lovely head, sound body, correct topline, put down & showed well.

OB: 1) Brockland Belle Bregorrey. Feminine brindle bitch who is so well made, excellent head properties, good coat of correct texture, never stopped showing, pleasure to award her the CC. I was told later this was her second CC, good luck for the third. 2) Amhard Extra Spice. Nicely constructed bitch, good outline & is well balanced, plenty of bone, relaxed action, moved well enough to win her the Reserve CC.
