The seasons certainly getting going

Third week of March so a Glen of Imaal Terrier round up has to start with Ireland. At the Celtic Winners BOB was Abberann Conan with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne. Conan then went on to take Best Veteran In Show. Glens just get better as they get older! The St Patrick’s Day Show saw Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore take Best of Breed with the evergreen Conan Reserve Best of Breed.

In Lithuania the Vilnius Cup was a win for Gleann HoHo Hogan with another “eternal youthful” BOS in the shape of Gleann Una Noonan, it was a 3 show weekend (all International and one the biggest in the country) and the results were repeated at all three shows. At Weelde (Belgium) Boudivella Oscar was BOB which gives him his Belgian Championship. Combine this with his Swiss and KC Championship and he now becomes an International Champion. The first UK based one for quite a while. Romainville Uptown Girl was Best Bitch. In Offenburg (Germany) My Dear Fellow Calimero the Angel was awarded Best of Breed. In Munich Calimero was Best Opposite Sex with Best of Breed going to Spirit of Ireland Beautiful who was also Best Veteran.

Over in America the 4 Show Louisville Cluster in Kentucky had good entries. Starting with Mid-Kentucky KC it was a win for Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life with Daulton’s Ciaran of Pine Meadow Best Opposite/Best Bred by Exhibitor and BBE Gp4. Friday was Louisville and again DD was Best of with Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea Best Dog. Ciaran was Select, BBE and BBE Gp3. Evansville was next with Sweet William O’Shea and DD once more (William Best & DD BOS) Louisville KC finished off the cluster with Sweet William O’Shea once more taking the top award and Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight Best Opposite. Comedy Tonight has always been Owner Handled and the Cluster saw her obtain enough points to be awarded her Grand Championship.

Before hitting the Brains section a mention for an Open Show win; Amhard Manhatten was Best of Breed at Retford.

In the Brains Luna leads in with her Gold Good Citizens and then Ginny as Monique reports that “Ginny qualified for the 3rd time in the AKC Rally Intermediate class last weekend, earned her RI title, and was presented with a new title medallion from the First Dog Training Club of Northern New Jersey!”.

Winston & Griffin became the first Glens to earn AKC Stunt Dog Titles with both earning Novice & Open Stunt Dog titles. Ending with a new boy; Henry was first in his scent detection class. Nice one Henry, let’s hear more from you and many, many congratulations to everybody

Certainly a BUSY weekend!!

The biggie in the Glen of Imaal Terrier world this last weekend, as it is for any show terriers, is the group of shows known as the Montgomery Cluster. The 4 day event starts off with Hatboro 1, then Hatboro 2, Devon and finally Montgomery Terrier Show itself. Starting in Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life was BOB over her brother Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend, her son Finnabair You Should be So Lucky was Best of Winners. Hatboro 2 also went the way of the ladies with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe At Setanta over Friend of A Friend once more. Gleann Damn Daisy took BOW. Devon was a reversal of the Hatboro 1 top placings-Friend of A Friend over Ain’t It The Life- with Damn Daisy again Best of Winners. Montgomery (with the GITCA Specialty) finished off the weekend with a repeat of the Devon results and Finnabair You Should Be So Lucky once again Best of Winners. America is one heck of a big country though and other Group placings were being recorded. Abberann Phelan was Group 3 at Greater Omaha Terrier Association & Abberann Lament for Owen Roe Gp4 at Cornhusker KC of Lincoln Nebraska. Canada also saw two Group placements (2xGp3) with Abberann Derbla at Nipissing KC.

In Germany My Dear Fellow Cordula The Angel was BOB at Rostock and on the following day repeated her win at the Klub Fur Terrier Show. At that show Spirit of Ireland Batida de CoCo was Best Veteran and then won the Veteran Group! In Finland at Tuulos Group Show Gleann Gildea with Nellie took Best of Breed with Best Opposite Sex going to Gleann Ho Ho Hogan. Two days of showing in Ireland and once again it was the lady to the fore on day one with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore taking BOB over Golden Spurs. Day 2 Sky had to bend a paw as her kennelmate Abberann Conan pipped her for Best of Breed. South Wales Kennel Association means just two shows left with CCs for Glen of Imaals before the end of the year. At SWKA Boudivella Osca was the man over Jeonty Jyn A New Hope who took her third ticket and Best Opposite Sex. The two Reserves being Romainville Rock A Fella, who was also Best Puppy & Amhard Mai Tai.

“Brains” have also been in action. Laura Trainor writes We are competing at the Montgomery Terrier Agility trials. There is a competition for best breed “village” with the theme of the old west. The Mini Schnauzers had a photo booth to benefit their rescue. Unfortunately, Niamh was able to make use of their reasons to be WANTED for her standard run.  She redeemed herself in her Jumpers run, qualifying under judge Pamela Sturtz. This Q was her 75th lifetime qualifying Master Jumpers With Weaves run, earning her the title Master Jumpers Preferred Gold! Later in the day she also qualified in Master Barn Hunt. Good Girl Niamh! and from Monique Anthony:-Ginny participated in AKC Agility trials this past weekend and qualified twice in the Novice Standard Preferred class and once in the Open Jumpers Preferred class, placing first or second each time.

Salute to all the 2018 World Show attendees

It was asked for so here it is:- the Glen of Imaal Terriers who attended the 2018 World Show in Amsterdam. Thank you for showing us to the world, we’re proud of you. If any photograph has the wrong name on it just let us know.

World Show 2018 results…but pictures Wednesday

Planes and boats and trains bought Glen of Imaal Terrier folk to Amsterdam. There are nowhere near as many of us than in some breeds but the flag was flown proudly on all three days, nobody got an easy title. First up was the Benelux Show with 27 present. Best of Breed(CACIB & 2xCAC) was Gleann Damn Daisy with BOS (CACIB & 2x CAC) to High lander’s Dream Casper. The two Reserves-and CACs- were awarded to Gleann Una Noonan and Gleann Cotton Cody. Best Junior was awarded to Madra Athas Cayleigh Chead Gera.

The biggie of the weekend was obviously the World Show itself and there were 40 Glens entered. This time the honours went to the dog with Highlanders Dream Casper getting the nod for BOB-plus the CACIB and CACs-with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Bitch and CACIBs etc. The two Reserves were Gleann Bigwig and Una Noonan. My Dear Fellow Cordula The Angel was Best Junior, Billy Tow Vom Au Deighton Best Veteran and Finnabair Broc Ria Arda of Gleann Best Puppy.

Group 3 specialties were the last day of showing for Terriers. Highlanders Dream Casper made it a double with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne Best Bitch. The two Reserve CACs were awarded to Abberann Cosmic Cowboy and Daisy. Broc Ria was again Best Puppy and Gleann Indico Indy Best Junior.

A long list of names supported by a long list of people from different countries. Whelped in one country but owned in another was the story right through again and again. If whelped in the country of ownership often parents came from a different one. Glen of Imaal Terriers, becoming truly international….as the Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Irish, English, Dutch, German and American ringside indicated.

Great weekend and congratulations to everybody who was there

Photographs. Over the weekend we were asked if, like Crufts, it would be possible to have a record of every dog present on here? Many put photos galore on social media but not everybody is “friends” with everybody else and some just won’t do it but they will do the blog. Yep, we’ll do it but it will be Wednesday as we don’t get home until very late tonight and they have to be sorted, so that’s Wednesday’s blog sorted then!

Just wow!!!!

Last week it was easy to decide which Glen of Imaal Terrier should lead the “honour roll” round up and it’s easy this week as well. Please everybody, stand and applaud Billy Tow vom Au Deich who, at the Dutch Championship Show, took Best Dog for the 7th time and Best In Show for the 4th. Oh yes, he was Best Veteran as well. Best Bitch was his kennel mate McJake’s Aivy. Another Veteran Best of Breed was Abberann Conan who added yet another ribbon to his tally at The National. Best Bitch came from the other end of the scale when Jeonty Jyn A New Hope got the nod from Junior. It was worth the trip for the Abberanns as Cosmic Cowboy was Reserve Dog & Reach For The Stars Ryanne Reserve Best Bitch. Best Puppy Amhard Off The Cuff

Nice to hear from Australia where “Neuter” titles are on offer. Taufield Queen of Tara was Runner Up Neuter and Best Neuter at her last two shows which gives her 96 out the 100 points needed. The European Winners in Dortmund saw Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice increasing his reputation with Best of Breed, Fire & Ice Naomi was Best Bitch. In Ireland Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore represented Glens in the Group ring. Gleann is an affix that regularly appears here but this week the first mention is from Canada and Dartmouth Kennel Club with a Group 4 and two Group 2s for Gleann Holy Hannah. Crossing the sea to Scandinavia and Jarvenpaa with Gleann Indico Indy as BOB and Gleann Halloween Hattie Best Opposite. Oulu Nordic Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with the big ribbon and Gleann Halloween Hattie as Best Bitch. Gleann Ho Ho Hogan was Best of Breed at Seinajoki Group Show.

In America at Ravenna Kennel Club Tipperary That Girl was Best of Breed with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen Best Dog at one show with the results repeated at another but it was G4 for American Girl & BBEG2 for Sailor John. Klanath Dog Fanciers had a back to back set of shows and Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas had a OHG2 and OHG3 whilst Keadeen’s Something Like A Phenomenon was Best Opposite both days but she went one better with a fabulous Puppy Group 1. Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight at Chambersburg KC Shows also registered the Glen in the Group ring with a OHG2 and a G4.

You all do us proud!!!
