Eukanuba Week

It’s an American Glen of Imaal Terrier round up week as, whilst the rest of the world settles down a little for Christmas, the US show scene decamps to Florida for the big Eukanuba week.

Tuesday was Space Coast KC of Palm Bay with a Best of Breed for Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta and Gleann Cotton Cody Best of Winners and Best Opposite Sex. Wednesday was Brevard Kennel Club and Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend took BOB with Finnabair Shorlyne Summer in the Caatskills BOS. Daulton’s Rory was BOBOH and then took Number 1 in the Owner handler Group. Thursday saw two new Champions with Cotton Cody taking BOB (he was first shown in October at Montgomery) and 10 month old Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadows getting the nod for Best Bitch.

The big event was the weekend with Terriers on the Sunday. The major results were a repeat of Tuesday with Kilkenny Across The Universe at Setanta Best of Breed and Gleann Cotton Cody Best Dog. Select Dog Finnabair Double D Friend Of A Friend and Select Bitch
Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras. Best of Winners Finnabair Caatskill Lightning On The Shorlyne

The UK has Discover Dogs and the AKC has Meet The Breeds-the Glen booth was awarded 3rd place in the Terrier Group competition.

Finally Monique writes:-Oliver qualified for the third time and earned a title in the Excellent Buildings class at a Performance Scent Dogs trial on Sunday.  This completed the requirements (3 qualifying excellent runs in each of 5 elements-Buildings, Exteriors, Containers, Distance, Speed) for the Scent Dog Excellent (SDE) overall title.  He is only the third dog to achieve the highest level in this nosework organization. Most of all, I am extremely proud of my 17 year old Glen of Imaal Terrier, who still amazes me with his motivation to work and fun loving spirit.

Well done everybody and particularly the superb Oliver!

Association Champ Show…amongst others.

A quieter weekend but some Glen of Imaal Terrier people were still showing on the 1st Sunday of Advent; Christmas presents can wait awhile yet! The Glen of Imaal Terrier Association saw Romainville Billy Whizz getting the nod for Best in Show with Young May Moon Best Opposite Sex and Reserve Best In Show. The 2 Reserves were Romainville Fast ‘n’ Furious at Wickholm and Amhard Jeez Louise respectively. Best Puppy was (6 months on the day) Romainville Izzy Wizzy and Best Veteran Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm. Nice day for the Romainville and Wickholm kennels. It was Billy Whizz’s second BOB of the weekend as he had also taken that position at West Midlands Terrier

Slightly belated news from the Irish Breeds Society Show with a wonderful result for Glens; Abberann Phelan was Reserve Best In Show and Abberann Conan was Best Veteran in Show…nice!

Over in America at Agathon Kennel Club Best of Breed, and OHG2, was Tipperary Violet Dowager Countess who can now put Ch in front of her name, Best Dog was Daulton’s Rory. Sunday Agathon had Rory BOB (with Group 3) and Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton BOS. Violet finished off a good weekend by getting the nod for Bred By Exhibitor Gp1.

On the “brains” front Kelli Whitfield sends news “Griffin earned a qualifying agility run in Open Jumpers today with a first place completing his Open Jumpers Preferred (OJP) title today.”

Congratulations all.

Busy, busy weekend & Midland Counties closes today

It’s been a busy few days for Glen of Imaal Terrier people. At Darlington Championship Show it was a Romainville Double with Billy Whizz taking Best of Breed & Jean Genie Best Bitch. The two Reserves were Pajantick Star Trooper and Romainville Fade To Grey. The Dutch Glen Association held their Annual Champions Club Match with the BIS rosette being awarded to Billy Tow vom Au Deich with his daughter Fear Fiuntair Candy Keva Best Opposite so another double there. Reserve Dog & Bitch were McJake’s Angels’s Son Djuke & McJake’s Aivy. Carlow was another Best of Breed for Abberann Phelan and Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne was Best Bitch

The Irish Sporting Glen Club had their big weekend of showing, weight pulling etc. and have sent some nice photographs. Best In Show went to Stiubhard Hit the Road Jack at Ardgraigue with Stiubhard Bellatrix L’Estrange Best Bitch. They’ll be more coverage of their event on Friday as the judge promised her critique so hopefully it’ll be available by then. At the Danish Kennel Club International Show McCormac Setna Sithbacc took the Copenhagen Winners title with Bowler Hats Boggie Woogie taking home Best Bitch.

Over in America belated news of two Group 2s for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend at Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club back to back.Whilst across the country at Timberland KC Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas was taking BOB & Owner Handler Group 1 over Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right. South Shore Kennel Club saw Daulton’s Wild Night Galore take Best of Breed but the star of the day was Best Opposite Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Lily who was BOB Owner Handler, then took the Terrier Group Owner Handler and finally ended up as RBISOH! Friday at South Shore had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea take the BOB rosette home with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney Best Bitch. Cape Cod KC was another BOB for Daulton’s Wild Night Galore and another BB for Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney and this was repeated again on Sunday. Licking River Kennel Club (love that name) saw another Group Placement when BOB Daulton’s Rory took OH Group 3, Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow was Best Opposite on the first day with another Owner Handler Group placement, this time 4, on the second day for Rory with Emerald Isle Keeley with Daulton taking Best Bitch. Greater Lafayette Kennel Club had, yet another, Glen getting the nod for a Group placement with Abberann Torcan getting Gp2.

All these fabulous awards deserve fabulous congratulations but the honour of the day has to go to Kylee. Owner Laura Trainor writes:-CH Rainbow Springs Kylee of Cnoc CD RE OAP OJP OFP CGCA has earned her Senior Barn Hunt title at the Central Bark trial in Central Square, NY. Not too bad for a 12 year old!

Well done everybody and if you’re in the UK and thinking of entering Midland Counties Show (Terrier Day Thursday 22nd October) where Stephen Holmes is judging Glens you need to get a move on as entries close today

Summer advances

Starting the round up of Glen of Imaal Terrier news with a belated from last week. In Estonia Marfidal Pleasant Surprise was BOB with Marfidal Dream Come True Best Opposite.

This week we’ll start in Ireland at Dun Laoghaire and another Best of Breed for Abberann Phelan with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne Best Bitch. The Finns are certainly enthusiasts and a half:- In Estonia this week Gleann Eager Edgar took the big rosette and Group 4! Two Best of Breeds for Rosears Kate The Duchess at Viipuri / Vyborg and at Porvoo group Show it was BOB for Gleann Una Noonan with Best Dog going to Miimoksen Sirius. Greenville KC had Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta get BOB and Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was Best Opposite.

It was Game Fair weekend in the UK with Fern and Mac flying the paw for Glens on Friday…….and finally we’ve had a fabulous photograph sent of two Glens at a wedding. Embarrassing to admit but we’ve no idea who they are so don’t want to put the shot up until we’ve cleared it’s okay. Anybody know who the (probably) Scandinavian couple are so it can be checked if they mind?

Great work everybody-we’re all proud of you!!

Another busy weekend!

Summer is hopefully here and some Glen of Imaal Terrier exhibitors are celebrating it by getting out and about on the road.

We’ll start in Europe at Sligo (Ireland) and Best of Breed there was Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore with Abberann Phelan Best Dog. In Germany the KfT Klubseigers at Beusheim were der Fellow Ashton de CoCo and Fire & Ice Liberty. In Finland Gleann Una Noonan was BOB and Gleann Cotton Candy Best Opposite at Orivesi whilst at Mantsala Cotton Candy was BOB & his sister Curvy Corvette BOS and both became Finnish Champions.

Over in America THE news is another Best In Show for Glen of Imaal Terriers and this time it was Abberann Torcan who bought honour to the breed at Belvidere and then got a Gp2 the next day. A cluster in Ohio (two Green River KC Shows and one Ashtabula KC) saw numerous Group placings. At Green River 1 Daulton’s Rory was BOB & OHGp4 with Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham Best Bitch. Ashtabula had the honours reversed with Cora getting the nod and OHGp4 with Rory Best Opposite and Green River 2 finished off a rather good weekend for Cora with another BOB, OHGp3 and Terrier Group 4, Rory was Best Dog to her again. A cluster in Vermont-Two Woodstock Dog Club & two Green Mountain Dog Club had Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore taking 3 Best of Breeds and a Group 4 with Kilkenny Granite Glen Rooney (BOS at Woodstock 1) getting a OHGp4 as well and she then went on to BOB at Green Mountain 2.

Oh yes it was the EFG Funday as well and it went pretty well. Just to wet the appetite today is only a picture of the BIS and the RBIS who was also Best Puppy. There will be more tomorrow!

Well done to everybody for a great weekend-whether flying the flag in the exhibition ring or flying the flag to show how great Glen people are at the EFG day.

Let’s celebrate….

….Glen of Imaal Terriers doing their thing with their people.

A double show weekend in Ireland with Abberann Phelan having to bow the paw to the ladies at both Munster & Cork. Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore was BOB at the former and Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanna at the latter. At Southern Counties Championship Show Pajantick Star trooper was BOB with Pajantick Rockahula Best Bitch.

The weekend of the Estonian Winners saw Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo and Pearytail Artful Tess both getting the Estonian 2016 title with Milo the nod for BOB. At Tallinn Group Show BOB went to Pearytail Candy McCoy and over the weekend McJakes Angel-Lina become an Estonian Junior Champion. Back in Finland Kuhmo Group Show saw Gleann Easter Eamonn take BOB.

Over in the States Keadeen Blue Boy for Bluesette was 4th in the Group at Yokima Valley KC and Daulton’s Rory also notched up a placement at Toledo KC with a G2 in OH and a G4 in the Terrier group. Ladies Kennel Club (Inc) had Kilkenny Granite Great Gatsby get the nod for BOB whilst at Gateway Terrier Show Abberann Stars and Stripes Ruari became a Champion.

Monique Anthony writes “Oliver qualified and earned first place in the Excellent Speed class yesterday at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Raymond, NH! The funniest part of the day was when he attacked some Barn Hunt tubes just outside one of the search areas and ran down the clock. Birch, anise or clove hides cannot compete with BH tubes, even if empty”

Applause to you all!!

Quite a weekend!!!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people certainly know how to exhibit!

Bath Championship Show caused a few eyebrows. BOB went to Romainville Rock On Ruby with Romainville Razzamatazz taking the Reserve so a nice double for Kathy. The eyebrows were caused in the dog judging when the Dog Ticket & Reserve went to two puppies over a Champion and a dog on 2CCs; it’s wonderful when judges cause the grapevine to hum and surely Lydia & Wendy won’t mind at all as their Pajantick Razamataz & Romainville Becks Blue at Zippor were the two boys with Green Cards. Thinking about it Quinn at 7 months is certainly one of the youngest, if not THE youngest, to take a CC.

In Finland Meomodo Fantabulous Amy was BB & BOB at Jarvenpaa All Breed Show with Marfidal Pleasant Surprise Best Dog. At Joensuu International Finnabair North American nebulon was BOB and Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Opposite. Placings were swopped for the Joensuu National with Bonnie B Good taking the BOB rosette & Nebulon Best Dog.

Abberann Torcan has been having a very successful few weeks with a Group 4 at Rock Island (IL) and at Oshkosh (Wisconsin). He then took 4 BOBs at Pontiac KC, Holland (Michigan) KC, Kalamazoo KC and Greater Muskegon. Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta was Best Opposite to him twice, Abberann Stars & Stripes Ruari once & Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore once. Too late for last week’s round up came the news that Keadeen Boy Blue for Bluesette had got Gp1 OH at Bell Vernon KA and this week BOB at Spokane KC with a Gp4. A Gp4 was also claimed by Daulton’s Rory who also matched the OH Gp1 at Warren County KC. Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham has been having one heck of a weekend in PA with five BOBs and four OH Group 4s and one OH group 3!!

Congratulations indeed!

The sun is shining….

…and Glen of Imaal Terrier people are out and about.

Over in Ireland at Hibernian Abberann Phelan was Best of Breed with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Bitch. As usual the Finns were out and about everywhere with Gleann Ungus MacGuire BOB and Glenrosedale Banrion Ros Croi BOS at Rauma National Show at Wirmo BOB was awarded to Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo and at the Kotka Puppy Show Rosears Little Digger took the top award with Rosears Last Soldier No 2. Seinajoki Group Show saw Pearytail Black Cat become a new Champion. Only one report from the States, at the back to back Ravenna KC weekend Daulton’s Rory was Best of Breed both days with Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras taking Opposite one day and Emerald Isle Keeley with Daulton the other.

Well done everybody!

Keeping on going….

The biggie of the results to catch up with has to be Westminster (hopefully the 180 odd who looked on here last Tuesday/Wednesday weren’t too disappointed we were still on Winter break). GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned made it an incredible three BOBs on the trot so it just has to be one word, besides congratulations, WOW. Best Opposite Sex was his daughter CH Tipperary That Girl. Two Selects were awarded and they were the brother & sister CH Cormac McCarthy & CH Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife with sire GCH Rainbow Springs Wicklow Warrior of Ber-D-Mar taking the Award of Merit so judge Ron Menaker could certainly see families and more than some may realise. Ned and the dam of the Ber-D-Mar siblings are brother & sister. Ned’s grandsire was the brother of Wicklow Warrior’s grandsire (English bred by a German dog) so besides family we are talking international! Thanks to Jane Fenton for the photographs

Back in January Kathleen O’Donnell (Australia) wrote “Tara (Taufield Queen Of Tara) 6mths first show in Minor got her bitch challenge and BOB then went on to win Minor of group she was so good and stood so well for me she performed well in General Specials (Best in Show) I was so proud of my girl today”. Also in January GCH Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney took BOB/BOBOH and Group 4 at Merrimack Valley KC. The group of shows that make up the Northern Ohio Winter Classic saw two Best of Breeds for Daulton’s Rory & one for Kilkenny’s Granite Aine of Claddagh. At Erie Ch Daulton’s Dark Lily of Caradoc was BOB and then got the nod for Group 3. Two more Group placings for GCH Abberann Torcan, a Gp2 in Minnesota and a Group 4 at Osh Kosh.

The Finns don’t notice Winter so are out and about as usual! A Group 1 for Gleann Dear Dandelion and a Group 1 and BIS4 for Pearytail Cruella de Gleann at Kajaani Puppy Show. At Turkuu International Gleann Cotton Candy was BOB with Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann BOS and obtaining her Finnish Championship. She followed this up with BOB at Parkano Group Show and then took a fabulous Reserve Best In Show. Pearytail Candy McCoy was BOB at Lahti Puppy Show and then went on to Group 3.

In Germany at Chemnitz Fire & Ice Moonraker was twice BOB and at Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire Jeonty Diamond Ring was Best of Breed. In Denmark Gleann Willy the Whale became a Danish Champion. A new Norwegian Champion came into being in MacNallys Glenna-Roisin and at Gent BOB was awarded to Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty

The mighty Oliver doesn’t care that it’s Winter as he earned an “Excellent Containers” title at the  Performance Scent Dogs trial in New Hampshire early February.

A great few weeks everybody-very, very well done.
