They do us proud!

Glen of Imaal Terriers, and their people, are out and about week after week introducing their dogs to people.

The Finns put us all to shame with their enthusiasm. Gleann Damn Daisy was BOB at Kokkola International and BOS at Oulu were she had to bow the paw to Gleann Easter Eamonn. Back to back shows at Parnu (Estonia) saw Pearytail Bonnie B Good Best of Breed both days, so earning her Estonian & Baltic Champion titles, with Finnabair North American Nebulon Best Opposite.

In America Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore had a 4 Best of Breed week, Holyoke, Farmington and two at Navgatuck where he was also Group 2. Abberann Torcan took a Group 4 in West Bend Wisconsin and Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore finished her Grand Championship…..and a bit late, but better late than never, the latest Keadeen Champion is, and the first to be made up from Bred By, Keadeen’s Second Star to the Right

In Ireland the Ladies Kennel Show had Abberann Reach for the Stars Ryanne Best of Breed and in the UK Goosnargh & Longridge saw Donvaleset Rebus take BOB, group 2 and then Best Terrier Veteran!

Well done all to all

Muriel Bailey (Judge)

Let’s do lots!

Glen of Imaal Terrier enthusiasts, followers and owners like to keep out there! At Leeds Championship Show judge Muriel Bailey paid homage to the thing we all know, Glens just get better as they get older, with both Challenge Certificates going to Veterans. It was a welcome to the Upper House as Donvaleset Rebus (subj. to KC confirmation) will now be adding CHAMPION to his name and Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm was awarded the bitch ticket. Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty was Best Puppy. The Veteran theme also continued over in Dublin with Abberann Conan, at 10, making a return to the ring to take BOB and his sister Ennya was Best Bitch.

There were three shows in Finland over the weekend and the Gleann affix was very much to the fore. Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed twice with Gleann Dynamite Mike taking number 3. The three “Opposites” were Gleann Ungus MacGuire, Rosears Humpty Dumpty and Gleann Curvy Corvette. Gleann may have been in two countries but so was Abberann as Abberann Torcan took a group 3 and group 4 respectively at Great Lakes All Terrier and Waukesha (Wisconsin) respectively. Daulton’s Emerald Green was also a double group placer over the weekend with two Owner Handler Group 3s in Ohio.

And what about the “brains” brigade? Mary Housholder’s Hannah took her first RATO leg and Monique sends the following….if there is room “Oliver had a great time at the NACSW Nose Work Element trial in Woodstock, CT on Saturday. He found all the birch scented hides in 4 separate vehicle searches and earned a Level 1 Vehicle element (L1V) title! It has been an embarrassment of riches lately and I’m so grateful that he still enjoys competing. There were also “brains” going on up in Washington State as Jeff writes “It was a busy weekend for Ciarán (Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette.)  He spent all day Saturday on a table greeting strangers and representing his breed in the “Celtic Kennels” at the Seattle Highland Games (in Enumclaw, Washington.)  Sunday, to unwind, he went rat hunting. Ciarán qualified in both morning and afternoon trials, earning his RATN title.  He finished with style, winning “high in class” on his second run

Millions of congratulations on a great weekend for the breed

Catching up with the news.

Glen of Imaal Terrier folk continue to get out and about. The Glen Association Open Show, judged by Nicki Montford, saw Romainville Rock On Ruby (Daughter of Billy Whizz BIS at the EFG Open Show) getting the applause for Best In Show with Kirikee Celtic Warrior Best Dog. Best Puppy, at his first show, Kingcottage Boogie on Basil and Best Veteran to Donvaleset Rebus.

At Riihimäki All Breed Show BOB was Rosears Humpty Dumpty and BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode with Bilbo’s Searlet taking Best Puppy. What a great weekend for GCH Abberann Torcan as he continues to rack up the group placements with a Group 2 and 4 at Wheaton.  His son Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore earned his AKC championship title with Winner’s Dog and Best of Winners at the Illinois show. These follow on a couple of back to back Group 4s.

Some late breaking news to add from the McKinley KC show held in Canton, Ohio yesterday, where Bronze Grand Champion Emerald Isle’s Keely with Daulton (Keely) was awarded a Terrier Group 4 under Judge Colonel Joe B. Purkhiser; breed judge was Mrs. Dennis (Mary Lou) Kniola. It was her 9th group placement under 9 different judges. Keely also went Owner-Handler Group 1 under Judge Kniola. Keely was handled by co-breeder, co-owner Jody Daulton. Ann Marie Pember is also co-breeder and other co-owners are Pam Estes and my wife Sheila Beyer Thomas and myself (Terry).

Kate Flack sends the following:Three day show held at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup Washington: Friday, June 5th’s Western Washington All Terrier Show: BOB to KEADEEN’S BLUE BOY FOR BLUESETTE (Aka Ciaran). Bred by A Tighe, J Kindall, and shown by co-owner Jeff Dairiki. Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7, the Puyallup/Tacoma KC Cluster. Judges Mariano Gatica Gomez and Merle Taylor awarded BOB both days to KEADEEN’S SIR EMMET MINGUS GLAS, (call name Emmet), also bred by Tighe & Kindall, and shown by co-owner Kate Flack.I didn’t credit the judge (Christine Erickson) on Friday as giving BOB to Jeff because well, Friday was complicated. She awarded BOB to me but I was DQ’d. When I registered online I checked the wrong class. I walked into the ring competing with Em as a 9-12 month puppy and then was awarded BOB.I realized my mistake, reported to the Superintendent, gave the ribbons to Jeff and was disqualified. Jeff won’t show up as BOB until the AKC notes the birthdate on my dog but, he will eventually. NOTE TO SELF: Read the confirmation letters that I receive in the mail carefully …… just to make sure I didn’t make an online error. A mistake in class can be corrected by the Superintendent until you step foot in the ring. Feel free to publish the Note to Self – maybe my mistake will keep someone else from making the error.

Congratulations to everybody and particular thanks to Kate for sharing her mistake; do check your entry forms.

It just gets better and better

Barn Hunting, walking, exhibiting, something very new and a BEST IN SHOW; Glen of Imaal Terriers just keep on getting better!! The first mention just has to go to GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned with number 15 Group 1 down in Arkansas and this time BEST IN SHOW. No apologies for using the very nice tribute breeder Mary gave “Today Ned, GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, became only the second Glen in the US to get an All Breed Best In Show. Ned is sired by Spike – Malsville Soldier Blue. Royalty’s Star Over Coleraine (India) was the first Glen to have that honor. BOTH dogs share a grand sire – Jeonty Little Soldier, making this a family affair. Thank you to Jean Rogers for producing Soldier, and to Liz and Harold Gay for allowing Spike to emigrate to the US. Well done!” The American South really loves the breed as GlenTyrs Lady Isabella took Gp1 in Augusta, Georgia. Over in Ohio it was another BOB for GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green. Brno saw the European plus an International Show and Fin Glenn Glen Limited Edition was Best of Breed with Gleann Aine of Antrim Best Opposite. The International Show saw Cairdiulacht Aoife NicAlainna take the top award. In Finland Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann was BOB at Seinajoki with BOS going to Gleann Ungus MacGuire. Midland Counties saw Dovaleset Rebus take Best of Breed with Donvaleset Domino Best Bitch. At the first ever Barn Hunt In New York State Niamh showed everybody just how good Glens are with first place & high score (fastest time) in Open. The first Glen walk in Central park caused a lot of interest and was a great advertisement for the joys of owning one.To finish off such an incredible round up Finnian shows the adaptability of the breed with his acceptance into a new programme Los Angeles International airport has started. They are going to have dogs in the airport terminal to help reduce stress levels of passengers and the boy will be there for a stroke and a hug! What a weekend and what a list of accomplishments!!!!!!!!

Keeping going….

Glen of Imaal Terrier people like to keep out and about” At South Wales Kennel Association the Challenge Certificates went to both ends of the age scale with veteran Donvaleset Rebus taking the dog ticket & BOB whilst the bitch ticket went to the puppy bitch Bonny Nell. At the back to back International Shows in Ireland it was The big rosette for Ch Abberann Karl on day one and Abberann Phelan on Day 2. The Danish Terrier Club also had back to back shows and McCormac Setna Sithbacc was Best of Breed both days.

Over in America GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned took two Group 2s at Arcadia, Florida and GCH Daultons Emerald Green was BOB and Owner Handler Group 2 at Mad River KC. Finnabair Winston O’Reilly CD BN RN TD NJP JE THD RATN CGC turned his Novice barnhunt title into Open (RATO) over the weekend, what can’t this boy do?

Well done everybody!!!
