Let’s celebrate the (theoretical) start of summer

Summer officially starts in two days so let’s celebrate it with Glen of Imaal Terrier successes. At Swords Championship Show in Ireland BOB went to Abberann Phelan with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore as RBOB. At the National Dog Show in Erfurt (Germany) Finn Glen Glen Limited Edition took Best of Breed and became both a VDH & Kft German Champion

The Finns are always out and about and at Rovaniemi International Show Gleann Easter Eamonn took home the senior rosette whilst at Uusikaupunki Group Show Best of Breed went to Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo and Glenrosedale Banrion Ros Croi was Best Opposite Sex. At Eagle International BOB was Pearytail Bonnie B Goode with BOS Pearytail Arm Candy Andy (great name). In Norway at Tromso International Gleann Ungus MacGuire was BOB with Balloo Girl Best Bitch.

Over in America Echo Hills KC of Ohio saw Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton take BOB & Owner Handler Group 4. St Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association saw Finnabair Caatskill Lightening on the Shorelyne take the big rosette. At Bryn Mawr Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was Best of Breed whilst Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore took back to back Best of Breed and group 4 wins at Greater Clarksburg (West Virginia)

A new name to the “brains and beauty” call is Bregorrey Sovereign Storm who took his first qualifying leg in standard preferred agility and also took first in class.

Well done everybody!

Top Glen of Imaal Terriers 2015

In the UK: Ch Romainville Billy Whizz.

In Ireland: Ch Abberann Phelan who can now have Multi Champion written in front of his name as his Dutch Championship, to add to his Irish and UK, was confirmed just before Christmas.

In Finland: Ch Gleann Una Noonan.

The USA haven’t declared officially for the end of the year but provisionally, and here it is interesting as they run two tables one on Group placings and one on breed placings. The Group table has GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned at number one and the breed table has GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton at the top-she also “manages” number 3 in Group placings also.

The UK also has announced Top Breeder, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch and Puppy. They are, respectively, Romainville, Ch/Dutch/Del Ch Jeonty Wannabe Buster, Ch Brockland Belle Bregorrey and Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty (who is the son of the Finnish Top Glen)

Congratulations everybody; a great year for you all!

All that can be said is WOW!

It’s the top slot today, and so it should be, as Finnabair Winston O’Reilley, BN, RA, GN, CD, JE, THDA, TD, VCD1,NAP, NJP, CGCA, NW1, RATS, RE, CAT, can now add CDX (AKC Companion Dog Excellent, Open Obedience Title) to that long, long list. He’s the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn Companion Dog Excellent under AKC rules and a long time ago there was one under KC rules, are there any others out there?

Great work Mark and Winston, you do us all proud!

Oaks (Philadelphia) has four days of shows and was two Best of Breeds and one Best Opposite for Tipperary That Girl, one BOB and 3 Best Opposites for Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea and Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife took the other BOB. A weekend of four shows in Ohio saw Abberann Torcan take 2 Best of Breeds and 1 Best Opposite with Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton one BOB and three BOS. Daulton’s Rory may “only” have taken one Best of Breed but he topped the lot with Owner Handler Group 1.

Congratulations.

Winston, 2 qualifying scores to more than give him CDX

November but still news!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. Slightly belated news with the Danish Winners and McCormac Setna Sithbacc taking the Top Award. Puppy Shows in Finland with a Best for McJake´s Angel-Lina and then a Group 2 and on the following day Gleann Elite Ellie was Best Puppy. At the International Dog Show in Poznań Solangana Sagittarius was Best of Breed

In America a back to back at Tennessee Valley Kennel Club saw Daulton’s Dark Lily of Caradoc take BOB both days and at Delaware (Ohio) Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton had a great run with BOB, OH group 3 and terrier Group 4. Also picking up news of a Puppy Group placing in America, c’mon don’t be shy as we all love to share!

The breed was represented at a big pet event at the NEC most ably by Gill and Inga plus requisite humans. What can we “mere Glen owners” do other than stand in awe with news like the following “Oliver earned an Advanced Distance title Saturday at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Auburn, New Hampshire.  He qualified in 4 classes, placing second twice and third once.  He did not place in the fourth class since mom was too busy playing with the leash that she ignored his attempts to alert her to the scent hidden in the metal scoop on the floor” from Monique and this week he is joined by Bucky (Clugadan Buckaroo Bonzai). “Bucky earned his NACSW Nosework 2 Title today, becoming the second West Coast Glen to do so. He turned in an outstanding performance, receiving a “Pronounced” in three of the four trial elements as well as coming in third in vehicle searches. He was one of 12 dogs in a field of 36 who qualified today.”

Congratulations all!
