What a weekend!

Group placings galore for Glen of Imaal Terriers with a Group 1 and 3, yes 3 in 3 different countries, Group 4s plus a Best Puppy In Show! Glens also accounted for an Open Show Group 4 as well. Is this the breed’s most successful weekend ever? The Group 1 was annexed by Abberann Torcan in America and the 3s by his brother Phelan in Ireland, another US placing by Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore and Finland saw Gleann Elite Ellie take the third. Best Puppy was also Stateside with Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit.

It was at Anderson KC where Torcan triumphed, Tioga County KC for Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore, Clonmel for Abberann Phelan (Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite) and Heinola All Breed had Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo taking Best Opposite to Gleann Elite Ellie. Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit besides the BPIS also took a Puppy Group 2 and it was Pembroke Dog Show (Wales) that saw Kingcottage Boogie on Basil take the Open Show Group placement.

In Estonia 3 Best of Breeds were awarded to Gleann Eager Edgar and at Kouvola Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo took BOB. The German Winners Show at Leipzig saw a double double with BOB going to Fire & Ice Liberty, BOS to Fire & Ice Moonraker and the two Junior Winners to McJakes Aivy and Mcjakes Ayle. At Olympic Kennel Club Keadeen’s Second Star to the Right took Best of Breed with Keadeens Blue Boy for Bluesette Best Opposite.

Welsh Kennel Club saw a new Champion with Pajantick Star Trooper taking the all important 3rd CC and Best of Breed. Best Bitch was awarded to Romainville Fade To Grey with the two Reserves being Golden Spur and Romainville Maggie May. Best Puppy was new kid on the block Wickholm Breaking Dawn very ably handled by young Emily Sage. Best Veteran was awarded to Donvaleset Rebus

Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas added another string to the bow with a CA (coursing aptitude) award

What a weekend, what a breed!!

Another week of celebration

Another week and more smiling Glen of Imaal Terrier owners!

In Finland Gleann Elite Ellie took 2 BOBs ahead of her respective brothers, Gleann Expert Edvard and Gleann Eager Edgar. Over at Latvian Winners Pearytail Bonnie B Goode took BOB and became a Latvian Champion. Interestingly cats are shown at the same time-is there any other country that shows the two species together? At the Northern Terrier Club in Sweden McNally’s Gracie became a Swedish Champion.

The Glen Association Show saw Best Dog, Best Veteran and Best In Show go to Grizzlemarsh Digby with Best Bitch to Romainville Fade to Grey. The two Reserves were, respectively, Amhard Just in Thyme and Young May Moon.

Over in the States Theresa Nesbitt writes that “Abberann Torcan had a nice “weekend in Wheaton” with a Group 2 and Group 4 win.  His little sister Abberann Derbla “Ava” made a stunning American debut starting off with a major over 3 champion bitches.” Keadeen Blue Boy for Bluesette also had a great weekend with 3 Best of Breeds, 2 owner handler Group 1s and a Terrier Group 2.

Niamh (with Laura) has staked another title in the “brains” stakes when she qualified Senior in Barn Hunter for the fabulous title of RATS and Oliver earned first place and his 2nd Excellent Speed leg at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Westborough, MA

Congratulations everybody!

November but still news!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. Slightly belated news with the Danish Winners and McCormac Setna Sithbacc taking the Top Award. Puppy Shows in Finland with a Best for McJake´s Angel-Lina and then a Group 2 and on the following day Gleann Elite Ellie was Best Puppy. At the International Dog Show in Poznań Solangana Sagittarius was Best of Breed

In America a back to back at Tennessee Valley Kennel Club saw Daulton’s Dark Lily of Caradoc take BOB both days and at Delaware (Ohio) Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton had a great run with BOB, OH group 3 and terrier Group 4. Also picking up news of a Puppy Group placing in America, c’mon don’t be shy as we all love to share!

The breed was represented at a big pet event at the NEC most ably by Gill and Inga plus requisite humans. What can we “mere Glen owners” do other than stand in awe with news like the following “Oliver earned an Advanced Distance title Saturday at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Auburn, New Hampshire.  He qualified in 4 classes, placing second twice and third once.  He did not place in the fourth class since mom was too busy playing with the leash that she ignored his attempts to alert her to the scent hidden in the metal scoop on the floor” from Monique and this week he is joined by Bucky (Clugadan Buckaroo Bonzai). “Bucky earned his NACSW Nosework 2 Title today, becoming the second West Coast Glen to do so. He turned in an outstanding performance, receiving a “Pronounced” in three of the four trial elements as well as coming in third in vehicle searches. He was one of 12 dogs in a field of 36 who qualified today.”

Congratulations all!

It has to be the lead in….

Glen of Imaal Terrier people can be so proud that the lead to the “round up” this week just has to be Working News as we have certainly been out and about in that sphere with a vengeance. First Ollie NACSW Nose Work 3 Exterior (NW3-E) Element title on Monday October 19th in Martinsville, New Jersey and with the cooler weather, he was very energetic and eager to find the hidden birch, anise, and clove scents. Then Griffin with NW2 in Griffin. A near miss for Winston with 3 out of 4 elements in NW2 but he was 2nd fastest in vehicle search whilst Tula got 3 out of 4 in NW3. It doesn’t finish there as Niamh earned her PCD Obedience title. That’s Pre Novice, which will be renamed Preferred Novice come Dec 1. Same exercises as for the CD title except the Stay is not with other dogs (how sensible of the AKC.)

Glens have been showing as well with a Group 1 for Abberann Torcan in Valparaiso, a Group 4 for Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton and a Group 2 OH Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette in Washington. Even the babies are at it with a Puppy Group 3 for Gleann Elite Ellie in Finland. At other shows My Dear Fellow Brunhilde de Coco was BOB at Hanover, Gleann Una Noonan took the BOB at Seinajoku International with Gleann Cotton Cody Best Opposite and at Midland Counties Romainville Billy Whizz was BOB with Gleann Maggie May Best Bitch and Boudivella Oscar Best Puppy.

The Autumn Discover Dogs took place at ExCell & Lynn Fraser writes ”

On Saturday there were the following: Sally and Alan Barnaby with Murphy and Whizzer ( an honorary glen)

Sean Percy with Leia accompanied by their friend Lesley

Geraldine and Alan Cook (who sadly lost their Glen earlier in the year) who brought everything down and set up the stand

Gordon and Me with Dylan and Misty and on Sunday Gordon, Misty, Dylan and I were joined by

Kate and Duncan Emms with Daisy and her pup Fergus (6 months)

Beth and Ian Rogers with Basil

Nicki and Richard Montford (without hound, but who were a great help)

Just have to applaud all that news!
