And this weekend….

…Glen of Imaal terrier folk were out and about as usual.

In the UK Darlington saw a new Champion and one starting on the path when Boudivella Osca took his 3rd CC and Best of Breed with Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae taking her first CC. The two Reserves were Golden Spurs and Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage. Donvaleset Brier was Best Veteran with Abberann Running Down a Dream Best Puppy. Over in Finland Oulu Show had Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard take BOB and Astoreen Best Bitch.

Quite a few Group placings happening in America. At Lehigh Valley KC Show Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc was OHG2 and at Licking River KC (love that name) Daulton’s Ciaran of Pine Meadow was OHG3 and G2 with sister Daulton’s Caoimhe Best Bitch. Remarkably at the second Licking River they swopped places with Caoimhe getting exactly the same OHG3 and G2! At both Cape Cod KC and South Shore Kilkenny’s Best of My Love was Best of Breed with Kilkenny’s Stopping By Woods Best Opposite and Puppy Group 3 at Cape Cod. At the Sunday Show Kilkenny’s Glen Rooney was BOB and OHG3 with Stopping By Woods again Best Opposite. In Canada at Oakville & District KC Abberann Derbla was Group 2.

The Midland Game Fair was held at Weston park and the breed was there. Thanks to everybody who supported. Ginny was showing the breed’s prowess in the Brains Department with 3 new AKC Scent Work titles this weekend:  Advanced Buried, Advanced Container, and Advanced Exterior!  She also dramatically qualified in her first Excellent Buried class by finding the 3rd and final target odor with less than 4 seconds to spare.

Congratulations everybody

Just keep on showing.

Many Glen of Imaal Terrier people who were in Amsterdam last weekend were glad to get home for a rest. Others just kept on going. It was the Baltic Weekend in Estonia. Friday was the Harjuma Group Show. Best of Breed was Pearytail Candy McCoy who was shortlisted in the Group. Pearytail Donald Dump was Best Opposite and Pearytail took BIS 2 (Breeders). Saturday was the Baltic Winners with (for Estonia) a big entry of 15. BOB to Gleann Dynamite Mike and Gleann Gildea with Nelli Best Bitch. Sunday was the Terrier Specialty with the Pearytail pair taking the top awards again. Kouvola (Finland) saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard get the nod for Best of Breed with Astoreen Best Opposite.

The two Reserves were Abberann Conan and Romainville Maggie May, so a double double. Jeonty Dreams A Dream of Karensbrae kept the breed flag ably flying with a 1st in the Junior Stakes. The Irish Circuit has begun with the All Terrier and Clonmel. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage was Best of Breed at both.

In Canada Abberann Derbla has been keeping the breed flag flying with Gp3 at both Kilbride & District & St Catharines & District and Gp2 & 4 at Grey-Bruce Kennel Club (another great name). In America Nisqually KC in Washington State saw Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right take Best of Breed both days plus Gp3. Keadeen’s Boy Blue for Bluesette was Best Opposite both days and he triumphed in the Owner Handler Groups with an OH3 and OH4. Glendalough Daithi of Abberann was Best of Breed at the Upper Potomac Valley KC and Laurel Highlands Kennel Association. At Potomac Abberann Blue Sky of Glendalough took Puppy Group 1. South Adirondach Dog Club had Kilkenny’s Best of My Love take home the BOB award.

Congratulations all.

And first in this week goes to……

Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend took a short sojourn in Canada for the Sarnia cluster and returned home with  2 x Group 2, 1 Group 3, 1 x Group 4 and his Canadian Championship.  The first American bred Glen of Imaal Terrier to obtain it. Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life was also in Canada and collected three Group 4s. In Scotland Bon Accord is the local show for Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae and it was rather a good one for a finish to her puppy career. Puppy Group 1 and first in Vulnerable Breeds. Over in Ireland Abberann Cosmic Cowboy was BOB at Bray.

In Finland Oulu International Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard take Best of Breed with Astoreen Best Opposite. It was also the weekend of the Finnish Glen Club Show with a fabulous entry of 51. Best In Show went to Gleann Cotton Cody with Gleann Happy Hippie Best Bitch. Best Veteran was Abberann Fagan with Best Puppy being awarded to Finnabair Broc Rua Arda of Gleann. The Youngest Junior Handlers had a wonderful time!

In America a cluster of shows at West Springfield, Massachusetts, saw some nice Glen entries. Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was Best of Breed at all four (picking up a Gp4 at Kenilworth KC of Connecticut inc) with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney celebrating a return to the ring after her litter of ten with 3 x BOS and an OHG4. The other Best Opposite going to Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit.

Congratulations everybody

Another week gone

Let’s begin this week in California as it’s a while since there have been a number of Glen of Imaal Terriers showing in that State. Yosemite KC had a back to back with Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right Best of Breed both days. Keadenn’s Happy Go Lucky and Keadeen’s Kind of Blue were the two Best Opposites. Contra Costa County KC (another great name) was another double triumph again for Second Star with Happy Go Lucky once again Best Opposite. Moving east to McKinley KC Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took the top Glen award there. Greenwich Kennel Club had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William taking BOB. Abberann Phelan was THE man of the weekend, at b2b shows at Wheaton KC he was Group 1 both days and Reserve Best In Show on the second!

The Scandinavian enthusiasts put us all to shame with their enthusiasm week after week. Rosears Made To Measure was Best of Breed at Forssa with Marfidal Santa Baby Best Bitch. In Palanga (Lithuania) Rosears Kate the Duchess was BOB and became a new Lithuanian and Baltic Champion. The Latvian Winners saw Gleann Indico Indy take the “big rosette” with Gleann Una Noonan Best Opposite. Miijoonakoira was another Best of Breed trophy for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with Astorren Best Bitch. In Germany, to celebrate 40 years of the SCWT there a special show was held for the Terriers of Ireland. BOB was Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice with Best Bitch Heart of Green Island Abbigail

Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was out in Varieties and at Dundee was Best Not Separately Classified.

In the “Brains Department” Laura Trainor reports ” Liam, Niamh and Kylee found the Pi-rats at the Central Bark Barn Hunt trial. Niamh earned 3 Master Qs.” What a great photo!

Congratulations all

Oh we were busy!!!

Bank Holiday weekend so extra time for Glen of Imaal Terrier people to go showing and, boy, we sure did! There are a lot of results with a bunch from Scandinavia/Lithuania. If eyes crossed when writing them up just let me know.

Leading in with Bath Championship Show and applause for Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage who was BOB but more importantly it was her 3rd CC. Dog CC went to Romainville Becks Blue for Zippor with Romainville Whistle Dixie and Boudivella Osca taking the respective Reserves. Jeonty Glynis Making Magic For Zippor was Best Puppy & Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm Best Veteran.

The Helsinki Puppy Show saw Finnabair Broc Rua Arda at Gleann be awarded BOB with Meomodo Careless Cuinn Best Opposite. Joensuu International was atriumph for Finnabair North American Nebulon with Rosears Miss Miimos Best Bitch. The places were reversed at Joensuu All Breed Show the next day. Moleti International Dog Show saw Rosears Master of the House Best of Breed and Astoreen Best Opposite. Rauma Dog Show went to Gleann Indico Indy and BOS was Taramont Niamh Tirnan’Og. At the Lithuanian Terrier Club Show Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard was Best with Astoreen Best Bitch. Salo Group Show had Hammersmolles Rocket Saturn getting the nod for the big ribbon.

Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend just has to lead the American round up with Groups 1 & 3 at back to back Bayou Kennel Club shows & then a Gp1 at Southern Arkansas KC. The Owner Handler Group was also seeing “Glendom” with a Group 1 for Tipperary That Girl at Trumbull County KC, OHG3 at Altoona Area Kennel Association and a repeat OHG3 at Newcastle KC. Holland Michigan Kennel Club saw another Glen Group placing for Abberann Phelan (Gp3) with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta taking Best Opposite, the placings were reversed at Grand Rapids Kennel Club. Phelan was again BOB at Kalamazoo KC with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Opposite, Best owner Handler and OHG4. Hendersonville Kennel Club back to back shows had Kilkenny’s Middleton Irish Spirit taking BOB at both with another BOB at Spartanburg KC with Kilkenny’s Quandarry at Parrsons BOS.

The UK is really the only country that still has a lot of Open Shows and that (to many US & FCI) strange thing known as Varieties. To show a Glen of Imaal Terrier in those classes is to have conviction. Jeonty Dreams A Dream at Karensbrae was at Banff, Moray & Nairn Canine Club and bought home BAVNSC Terrier and G2, she also won Special Terrier Puppy, 1st in junior stakes, 4th in members stakes and 4th in The Mary McCance stakes.

Great going everybody!!

Just wow!!!!

Last week it was easy to decide which Glen of Imaal Terrier should lead the “honour roll” round up and it’s easy this week as well. Please everybody, stand and applaud Billy Tow vom Au Deich who, at the Dutch Championship Show, took Best Dog for the 7th time and Best In Show for the 4th. Oh yes, he was Best Veteran as well. Best Bitch was his kennel mate McJake’s Aivy. Another Veteran Best of Breed was Abberann Conan who added yet another ribbon to his tally at The National. Best Bitch came from the other end of the scale when Jeonty Jyn A New Hope got the nod from Junior. It was worth the trip for the Abberanns as Cosmic Cowboy was Reserve Dog & Reach For The Stars Ryanne Reserve Best Bitch. Best Puppy Amhard Off The Cuff

Nice to hear from Australia where “Neuter” titles are on offer. Taufield Queen of Tara was Runner Up Neuter and Best Neuter at her last two shows which gives her 96 out the 100 points needed. The European Winners in Dortmund saw Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice increasing his reputation with Best of Breed, Fire & Ice Naomi was Best Bitch. In Ireland Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore represented Glens in the Group ring. Gleann is an affix that regularly appears here but this week the first mention is from Canada and Dartmouth Kennel Club with a Group 4 and two Group 2s for Gleann Holy Hannah. Crossing the sea to Scandinavia and Jarvenpaa with Gleann Indico Indy as BOB and Gleann Halloween Hattie Best Opposite. Oulu Nordic Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with the big ribbon and Gleann Halloween Hattie as Best Bitch. Gleann Ho Ho Hogan was Best of Breed at Seinajoki Group Show.

In America at Ravenna Kennel Club Tipperary That Girl was Best of Breed with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen Best Dog at one show with the results repeated at another but it was G4 for American Girl & BBEG2 for Sailor John. Klanath Dog Fanciers had a back to back set of shows and Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas had a OHG2 and OHG3 whilst Keadeen’s Something Like A Phenomenon was Best Opposite both days but she went one better with a fabulous Puppy Group 1. Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight at Chambersburg KC Shows also registered the Glen in the Group ring with a OHG2 and a G4.

You all do us proud!!!

Quite a bit to catch up on!

Glen of Imaal Terriers quite often position in the Group in America but in Europe it is quite rare so the lead in today just must go to Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice who was BOB at Lingen, Germany and then went on to Group 3! Best Bitch at the show was My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel. In Prague My dear Fellow Bealtaine de Coco took Best of Breed with My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel Best Opposite. At another show in the Czech Republic My dear Fellow Clärchen the Angel  was Best of Breed. In Sweden (Vasteras) Marfidal Pleasant Surprise was Best of Breed and Marfidal Up To Your Ears-great name- was taking a short holiday in Serbia & Estonia and was rewarded with BOB at each. Tampere Nordic Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with BOS being awarded to Pearytail Candy McCoy. He did it again on the Sunday Show with Gleann Una Noonan being awarded Best Bitch. At WELKS Romainville Billy Wizz was Best of Breed with Sigrid Helga at Pant Cottage Best Bitch, Jeonty Glynis Making Magic for Zippor was Best Puppy

In America Tipperary American Girl was BOB and OHG1 at Mountaineer Kennel Club, at Crawford County KC Glens again featured in the Owner Handler Group with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen being pulled in number four and over in California Finnabair Caatskill Bring It On at Broc Rua was OHG3 twice. Bucks County KC saw Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea get the nod for BOB whilst at Fort St Clair KC it was Kilkenny’s Middleton Irish Spirit.

Brains were busy as well as beauty. Eili earned her Novice Barn Hunt RATN & Jeff Dairiki’s news is that Ciarán and Quinn each earned their Barn Hunt RATCHX4 titles and there is news of “Pepper”. She was running FastCat at Brevard KC and earned her BCAT title. The Brains round up is always done with call names but registered names are liked for the first mention so Pepper….who are you?

Still getting the name out!

Glen of Imaal Terrier folk are still getting the name of the breed out and about. Pride of place this week has to go to the latest, and youngest, member of the “shout out” team. Finnabair Broc Rua Arda of Gleann was in Estonia at her first show and only went on to take Best Puppy and then Best Baby Puppy in Show! Also in Estonia at the Tallinn Winners Cairdiulacht Daibhi MacMiolmor was Best of Breed over Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. At the Terrier Specialty the following day Daibhi had the bow the paw as Madra Athas Ceinlys Chead Ghra was Best of Breed. In Finland at Vaasa International Dog Show Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard was Best of Breed with BOS being awarded to Gleann Dear Dandelion. Utrecht International Dog Show saw Boudivella Osca being awarded Best Dog & BOB with Boudivella Tegan Best Opposite.

In America Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right was at Moses Lake for BOB and Group 3. Jeonty Golden Memo was at a cluster of shows in California and took Best of Breed at both Northern California Terrier Association Shows as well as Sacremento KC.

Griffin was showing another talent by doing 5 AKC FAST CAT runs. FAST CAT is a timed 100 yard run with the dog chasing a mechanically operated lure. 19 miles and hour is going some in a short legged breed!

Congratulations everyone!

Blimey, we’re good.

Sometimes a show just has to start the Glen of Imaal Terrier catch up and this is one of those weeks; National Terrier. It’s considered one of the highlights of the terrier world and folk were there in force and it was a double, double result. Best of Breed and Best Opposite to the same owner with the two Reserves to the same owner…..and there was getting on for 40 years in the breed difference between them so ably illustrating that it is possible to do well with a Glen whoever you are. Something else was gloriously illustrated as well; Glens just get better and better as they get older. In possibly the majority of breeds animals of 10 & 12 wouldn’t be considered for serious showing. As there was no veteran class these mere youngsters were entered with everybody. One stood second between a two and three year old and the other swept all before him as he took the Dog ticket and BOB. Abberann Conan had one of the ultimate compliments paid by a judge who happened to be walking by the ring “that can’t be Homer surely!” To be recognised and known by his call name, that’s the way to go. Bitch CC to him was his kennel mate Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore which gave her the CH to add to the others at the front of her name. The two reserves went home in the proud pocket of Jane Alstead with the awarding to her Golden Spurs and Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage. Best Puppy went to Jeonty Dreams a Dream with Karensbrae who earned extra kudos for Glens with a 4th in the Puppy Stakes as well as a placing in the YKC Handling.

The Pearytail D litter debuted at the Kotka Puppy Show weekend and had rather a successful time. Pearytail Donald Dump took BOB both days over his sister Pearytail Dillion Dollar Baby and then topped it with a Group 3 and a Group 4. Sundsvall (Finland) saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard take home the Best of Breed rosette. Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was having a trip to Lithuania and took Best of Breed both days as well as being shortlisted in the Group on Day 1. My Dear Fellow Cordula The Angel was BOB & BP at Dresden whilst Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice was picking up the applause at the International Show in Luxembourg.

Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend had a great cluster in Alabama. Group 1 both days at Tuscaloosa KC with Group 2 & 1 at the Birmingham KC shows. Be-D-Mar Sweet William took a G4 at Trap Falls KC and Abberann Lament for Owen Roe was at Packerland KC over Easter and took Group 4.

Lots of “beauty” but the brains of the breed were also on the go over the weekend when Ginny added another title to the back of her name so BCAT (AKC Fast CAT-100 yard Coursing Ability Test) joins the rest

National Terrier is often on Easter weekend but this year it was missed by a week. Nicki Montford said she would “provide cake” in honour and what a creation it was. Chocolate cake, with more chocolate cake and decoration of mini eggs and crème eggs. Suffice to say none of it returned home with her. Thanks Nic, it was greatly appreciated. Over the years Glen of Imaal Terrier owners have fought a long battle on how the name is spelt, it’s part of owning the breed, but jaws dropped when arriving at the benching area at National Terrier. The first Championship Show to gives us classes, the show that terrier folk go to and there it was….Glen of IMMAL. The Chairman and Secretary of NT, when the matter was bought to their attention, both swore innocence and said there would be spelling and breed awareness courses introduced before next year. We expect nothing less!

Great weekend everybody.

Okay we’re back and…..

Glen of Imaal Terrier people have been busy, busy, busy in the last couple of weeks.

In Ireland at Bull Breeds Best of Breed was nodded for Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne with Best Dog to Abberann Cosmic Cowboy. At the German Winners Gleann Dear Dandelion was BOB and Gleann Cotton Cody Best Opposite with Fire & Ice Jazz Best Veteran. The German Terrier Club Show was a repeat result for Dandelion & Jazz but Rosears Master of The House was Best Opposite. The World Show was an incredible 47 entry for Glens. Gleann Cotton Cody took Best of Breed, Bear Dandelion Best Bitch and Billy Tow Vom Au Deich Best Veteran. On the way down to Germany Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo stopped off in Prasgue and added a Cz Ch to his name. At the Norwegian Winners Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard took Best of Breed with MacNallys Glenna-Roisin Best Bitch.

Canada saw 6 Group placements in 6 Shows for Abberann Phelan. 1x Gp2, 3x Gp3 and 2x Gp4. As the year draws to an end the American Show scene is hotting up. Kilkenny’s Irish American at Castlerock was Best Bitch at Seminole and also BOB at the first show of the back to back. A cluster in Philadelphia began at Penn Treaty KC with success for Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea with Tipperary American Girl Best Bitch. At Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association American Girl took BOB (with OHG3) over William O’Shea. Kennel Club of Philadelphia was once again a triumph for William O’Shea with American Girl BOS and this was repeated at kennel Club of Philadelphia.

The “brains” side were also out. Griff did some Fast Cat qualifiers and Ginny earned her AKC Scent Work Container Novice (SCN) title!

Congratulations everybody!!
