Catching up with A LOT!

Holy Macaroni, Glen of Imaal Terriers have been doing us all so proud over the last couple of weeks it’s hard to know where to start!

Canada can take the honours this week as it is a very rare breed there in the showring so Groups are the thing for competition. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Gp1 and Gp4 United Kennel Club and Group 2 x2 at Moncton. Abberann Derbla 2 X Gp3 at Credit Valley Kennel Club plus Gp4 Georgina KC. Staying on that Continent and Gleann Damn Daisy, holidaying there from Finland, is getting seriously noticed with a GP3 at Central Florida KC, GP4 at Jacksonville Dog Fanciers plus BOB at the 2nd show, 2 BOBs at Treasure Coast KC of Florida, BOB Seminole Dog Fanciers Association plus GP2 at Seminole’s second show, Greater Ocala Dog Club was another BOB. BOS at Jacksonville was a new name to the blog, Long Lake Pharms Angus Fuller. Welcome to showing Glens and love your kennel name. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock was BOB Space Coast Kennel Club of Palm Bay and the second Greater Ocala.

Leaving Florida and going to Pennsylvania Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was BOB Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association & both Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Daulton’s Gedunk Malone from Emerald Isle picked up the last BOB of the weekend from Ohio

Northern Europe and Gleann Una Noonan has to do the lead in. Best Opposite at the Norwegian Winners as well as BOS at Jyvaskyla (Day 2) she was Best veteran in Breed day one and then took Best Veteran in Show out of over 70 veterans competing for the honour! Gleann Bigwig was BOB at the Norwegian Winners to her and Gleann Indico Indy at Jyvaskyla. Day 1 of that show saw Gleann Cotton Cody & Gleann Dear Dandelion taking the top honours. To Norway again and Rosears Master of The House was BOB Nordic Winners with BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. Flipping to the Danish Winners and Cairdiulacht Diarmuid MacMiolmor took Best and BOS was Rosears Nugget of Gold. Gleann Kooky Kanye was BOB at Lempäälä Puppy Show with Best Opposite Sex to Meomodo Dancing Angel. Two Best of Breeds in Germany for My Dear Fellow Calimero The Angel and in Rotterdam Amhard Manhattan took Best of Breed and his Dutch Junior Championship. Belgium to finish off and Boudivella Osca took BOB at both the Euro Dog Show & Benelux with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best Opposite at both.

Said it had been a serious bit of breed promotion and it isn’t done yet. The “brains” department was also flying the flag. Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae passed her Silver Good Citizens and “Poppy” (need a name) in America also took her Good Citizens and earned 90 out of 100 in Rally Advanced. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette qualified RATCHX7 which makes him the highest qualified barn Hunting Glen in the USA. Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took his BCAT title to show how incredibly diverse Glens are as a breed.

All over the world Glen of Imaal Terrier folk regularly give their time to promote the breed at many exhibitions and events. The National Pet Show was held recently and Alfie, Basil, Gil, Inga and Murfi showed everybody just what a Glen is. It’s also great when breed owners decide to get together “just for fun” as happened recently with the New Jersey Fall Glen Gathering.

All of us are wowed with your dedication and talent to show the breed in so many places!

Blimey, we’ve been busy

Many parts of the world have been recording very high temperatures but Glen of Imaal Terrier folk obviously thrive on the heat.

For a change let’s start the round up in Canada. Not a big dog showing country but boy do they like Glens with Gleann Holy Hannah taking 2 x Group 1, 2x Group 2 and 2x Reserve Best In Show and Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend taking the full set in Groups, one, two, three and four all on the same weekend!

In Finland at the Nastola Group Show Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was Best of Breed, at the Nordic Pearytail Bonnie B Goode was BOB with Rosears Impromptu Best Dog and at Pori International Gleann Ungus MacGuire was BOB with Balloo Girl Best Opposite. Mikkeli International saw Gleann Indico Indy getting the nod for Best of Breed

In Ireland Poachersmoon Sissy McGinty was Best of Breed and at the EFG Fun Day (another event that was hot, hot, hot) a Dachshund was Best In Show and the Glen (who was on holiday from Germany) was Reserve Best In Show. By the weekend of Leeds Championship Show the weather had become wet, wet, wet but that didn’t stop Golden Spurs (Best Dog) and kennel mate Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best of Breed. The two Reserves to Boudivella Osca and Jeonty Dreams A Dream at Karensbrae.

Continuing in the States a new star arose at Terrier Association Of Oregon when Keadeen’s Happy Chance-at just under a year old-was nodded to for Best of Breed and then he took OHG1 and Group 4. Best Botch was Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right. The back to back shows at Portland Kennel Club saw Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right triumph at both with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas and Keadeen’s Happy Go Lucky the Best Opposites. Another young star has also emerged further down the country at Woodstock Dog Club when 7 months old Kilkenny’s Stopping By Woods was Best Opposite and PG3 to his mother Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney. This was again repeated at Green Mountain whilst at Green Mountain second show Rooney took the honours again with Ballyhae’s Winter Sunshine taking Best Opposite.

Way to go people!!

Another week gone

Let’s begin this week in California as it’s a while since there have been a number of Glen of Imaal Terriers showing in that State. Yosemite KC had a back to back with Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right Best of Breed both days. Keadenn’s Happy Go Lucky and Keadeen’s Kind of Blue were the two Best Opposites. Contra Costa County KC (another great name) was another double triumph again for Second Star with Happy Go Lucky once again Best Opposite. Moving east to McKinley KC Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took the top Glen award there. Greenwich Kennel Club had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William taking BOB. Abberann Phelan was THE man of the weekend, at b2b shows at Wheaton KC he was Group 1 both days and Reserve Best In Show on the second!

The Scandinavian enthusiasts put us all to shame with their enthusiasm week after week. Rosears Made To Measure was Best of Breed at Forssa with Marfidal Santa Baby Best Bitch. In Palanga (Lithuania) Rosears Kate the Duchess was BOB and became a new Lithuanian and Baltic Champion. The Latvian Winners saw Gleann Indico Indy take the “big rosette” with Gleann Una Noonan Best Opposite. Miijoonakoira was another Best of Breed trophy for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with Astorren Best Bitch. In Germany, to celebrate 40 years of the SCWT there a special show was held for the Terriers of Ireland. BOB was Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice with Best Bitch Heart of Green Island Abbigail

Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was out in Varieties and at Dundee was Best Not Separately Classified.

In the “Brains Department” Laura Trainor reports ” Liam, Niamh and Kylee found the Pi-rats at the Central Bark Barn Hunt trial. Niamh earned 3 Master Qs.” What a great photo!

Congratulations all

Oh we were busy!!!

Bank Holiday weekend so extra time for Glen of Imaal Terrier people to go showing and, boy, we sure did! There are a lot of results with a bunch from Scandinavia/Lithuania. If eyes crossed when writing them up just let me know.

Leading in with Bath Championship Show and applause for Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage who was BOB but more importantly it was her 3rd CC. Dog CC went to Romainville Becks Blue for Zippor with Romainville Whistle Dixie and Boudivella Osca taking the respective Reserves. Jeonty Glynis Making Magic For Zippor was Best Puppy & Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm Best Veteran.

The Helsinki Puppy Show saw Finnabair Broc Rua Arda at Gleann be awarded BOB with Meomodo Careless Cuinn Best Opposite. Joensuu International was atriumph for Finnabair North American Nebulon with Rosears Miss Miimos Best Bitch. The places were reversed at Joensuu All Breed Show the next day. Moleti International Dog Show saw Rosears Master of the House Best of Breed and Astoreen Best Opposite. Rauma Dog Show went to Gleann Indico Indy and BOS was Taramont Niamh Tirnan’Og. At the Lithuanian Terrier Club Show Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard was Best with Astoreen Best Bitch. Salo Group Show had Hammersmolles Rocket Saturn getting the nod for the big ribbon.

Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend just has to lead the American round up with Groups 1 & 3 at back to back Bayou Kennel Club shows & then a Gp1 at Southern Arkansas KC. The Owner Handler Group was also seeing “Glendom” with a Group 1 for Tipperary That Girl at Trumbull County KC, OHG3 at Altoona Area Kennel Association and a repeat OHG3 at Newcastle KC. Holland Michigan Kennel Club saw another Glen Group placing for Abberann Phelan (Gp3) with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta taking Best Opposite, the placings were reversed at Grand Rapids Kennel Club. Phelan was again BOB at Kalamazoo KC with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Opposite, Best owner Handler and OHG4. Hendersonville Kennel Club back to back shows had Kilkenny’s Middleton Irish Spirit taking BOB at both with another BOB at Spartanburg KC with Kilkenny’s Quandarry at Parrsons BOS.

The UK is really the only country that still has a lot of Open Shows and that (to many US & FCI) strange thing known as Varieties. To show a Glen of Imaal Terrier in those classes is to have conviction. Jeonty Dreams A Dream at Karensbrae was at Banff, Moray & Nairn Canine Club and bought home BAVNSC Terrier and G2, she also won Special Terrier Puppy, 1st in junior stakes, 4th in members stakes and 4th in The Mary McCance stakes.

Great going everybody!!

Just wow!!!!

Last week it was easy to decide which Glen of Imaal Terrier should lead the “honour roll” round up and it’s easy this week as well. Please everybody, stand and applaud Billy Tow vom Au Deich who, at the Dutch Championship Show, took Best Dog for the 7th time and Best In Show for the 4th. Oh yes, he was Best Veteran as well. Best Bitch was his kennel mate McJake’s Aivy. Another Veteran Best of Breed was Abberann Conan who added yet another ribbon to his tally at The National. Best Bitch came from the other end of the scale when Jeonty Jyn A New Hope got the nod from Junior. It was worth the trip for the Abberanns as Cosmic Cowboy was Reserve Dog & Reach For The Stars Ryanne Reserve Best Bitch. Best Puppy Amhard Off The Cuff

Nice to hear from Australia where “Neuter” titles are on offer. Taufield Queen of Tara was Runner Up Neuter and Best Neuter at her last two shows which gives her 96 out the 100 points needed. The European Winners in Dortmund saw Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice increasing his reputation with Best of Breed, Fire & Ice Naomi was Best Bitch. In Ireland Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore represented Glens in the Group ring. Gleann is an affix that regularly appears here but this week the first mention is from Canada and Dartmouth Kennel Club with a Group 4 and two Group 2s for Gleann Holy Hannah. Crossing the sea to Scandinavia and Jarvenpaa with Gleann Indico Indy as BOB and Gleann Halloween Hattie Best Opposite. Oulu Nordic Show saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with the big ribbon and Gleann Halloween Hattie as Best Bitch. Gleann Ho Ho Hogan was Best of Breed at Seinajoki Group Show.

In America at Ravenna Kennel Club Tipperary That Girl was Best of Breed with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen Best Dog at one show with the results repeated at another but it was G4 for American Girl & BBEG2 for Sailor John. Klanath Dog Fanciers had a back to back set of shows and Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas had a OHG2 and OHG3 whilst Keadeen’s Something Like A Phenomenon was Best Opposite both days but she went one better with a fabulous Puppy Group 1. Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight at Chambersburg KC Shows also registered the Glen in the Group ring with a OHG2 and a G4.

You all do us proud!!!

In the Netherlands Madra Áthas Caoilainn Chéad Ghra took Best of Breed at the International Dogshow KV Rijnland, Hazerswoude

Kate Flack send news from the US North West: “The 2 day Seattle KC show in the Pacific Northwest was smaller than in past years, held inside on a warm & beautiful spring weekend, but nonetheless, Glens made a good entry with the newest 6 – 9 month puppies showing. A “Winners” Weekend.

A weekend of big shows; Three Scandinavian, one Dutch and (nearly) LKA. Glen of Imaal Terrier folk were at them all.

Helsinki Winners started things off with a Best of Breed for Gleann Cotton Cody and Best Opposite to Pearytail Candy McCoy. The Nordic Winners was a triumph for Gleann Una Noonan with Cotton Cody taking Best Dog. Una Noonan was THE girl again at the Finnish Winners with Gleann Bigwig taking Best Opposite. The Junior titles went to Cairdiulacht Daibhi MacMiolmor at all three with the sisters Gleann Happy Hippie and Gleann Halloween Hattie taking the title twice and once respectively. Puppy Shows run along side and BOB at one was Madras Athas Cayleigh Chead Ghra-Hammersmolles Rocket Saturn Best Opposite-with Gleann Indico Indy taking BOB and Puppy Group 3 at another. The Amsterdam Winners had Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice waved forward for Best of Breed with Fire & Ice Naomi Best Bitch

In the States Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea took Gp1 & Gp3 at Forsyth KC back to back shows and Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend went one better than a Group 1 with a Best In Show at Mississippi Gulf Coast KC. Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took home the Best of Breed ribbon from Richland County and Western Reserve KC.

Finally LKA. On paper it was an excellent entry of 14 for judge Ali Seall but the heavy snow that blanketed the middle of the country had Birmingham firmly in the middle of it and conditions were reported as nigh on treacherous in many areas. Glen of Imaal exhibitors, and the judge, set off fully prepared to slog it through but worsening conditions dictated that the only sensible thing to do was to turn around and all made it home safely. The only Glen that got through was the furthest travelled as Linda Smith had come up from Guernsey a couple of days before so full applause to Romainville Bilbo Baggins on his Best of Breed and flying the flag for us.

Such a good showing weekend but the “brains” were also out in the snow Ginny qualifying in the Advanced Buildings and Advanced Distance classes at the Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) trial in Massachusetts this weekend. She also titled in Novice Speed and earned the overall Novice level title (SDN). What a weekend.

Congratulations everybody

What a busy weekend

Top spot for the Glen of Imaal Terrier catch up must be America this week. The beginning of October is the biggie in the US terrier world of what is known as the Montgomery Cluster which is four shows. Number one was the first Hatboro with a win for Kilkenny’s Across The Universe of Setanta with Ber-D-Mar William O’Shea Best Opposite. Hatboro 2 saw Abberann Phelan (down from Canada) make a strike for the males with Keadeen Second Star To The Right Best Bitch. Devon was a repeat of Hatboro One and that it was Montgomery and it was a triumph for the Glens that had come all the way over from the North West of America when Second Star To The Right was awarded Best of Breed (3 out of the 4 days going to bitches) and Best Dog to Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas. What a fabulous day for the Tighes to have bred both winners at such a show.

It was a double at South Wales Kennel Association as well. Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty took his 3rd ticket and Best of Breed whilst Jeonty Jyn a New Hope was the Bitch CC winner and Best Puppy; father and daughter The two Reserves were also a double as Boudivella Osca and Romainville Uptown Girl are a son and mother. The Gleann affix had a marvellous weekend as Gleann Holy Hannah was Group 2 in Canada, Best Puppy in Group and became a Canadian Champion one day and a Gp4 and BPIG the next, whilst in Norway Gleann Easter Eamon was Best of Breed and became a Nordic Champion to make three Champions in three different countries on the same weekend.

Tuulos had two days of shows with Jeonty Just a Dream Ansa taking BOB & Meomodo Trick or Treat taking Best Opposite one day with Rosears Master of the House & Rosears Everything U Wish The Other, BOB & BOS respectively on the other. Hyvinkaa Puppy Show saw Gleann Indico Indy get the nod for Best of Breed with Glenrosedale Dubheasa darina getting Best Bitch.

Montgomery is THE US Terrier event in more ways than one as they do agility and Barnhunt as well. Laura Trainor sends a report the Glen brains also did pretty good there with Ciaran and Quinn both getting a Q twice in Master Barnhunt, Niamh one in Master and Liam once in Instinct. Niamh also Q’d in Master Standard Agility twice and Master Jumpers once. Over in California Louise Lopez’s Sullivan was obtaining his “title ribbon for Nose Work Element Specialty Level 1 Interiors.”

Glen of Imaal Terriers Rock!!!!!

It’s October….

…and still Glen of Imaal Terrier people continue on.

A weekend of shows in the Ukraine saw Rosears Master of the House take Best of Breed both days with Caireann Chasdubh take Best Opposite one day and Gleann Elite Ellie the other. In Finland the Loviisa Puppy Show was a triumph for Gleann Indico Indy as she was waved to Group 2. Staing in Europe, and this time Germany. Rostock had a CAC and a CACIB show. Hadberg Xzibit was triumphant both days and My Dear Fellow Alwine de CoCo was Best Bitch one day and My Dear Fellow Beltaine de CoCo the other.

As it’s the run up to the Montgomery Cluster Glen of Imaal people from all over the States are travelling east which is giving some nice entries. At Terrier Club of Michigan Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow took Best of Breed with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas Best Dog. Monroe Kennel Club was a BOB (and OHG4) for Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette with Best Bitch going to Caoimhe of Pine Meadow and on day 2 Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas took the honours with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta

Word of how the Glen of Imaal booth had gone on at Malvern Autumn Show World of Animals arrived too late for last week’s round up but the word was one of “success” in all quarters. If anybody would like to do their bit at the National Pet Show at the NEC on November 4-5 Tony Hadley, via email or telephone 07577582182 would love to hear from you. Who knows you may get to see Supervet himself!

The breed brains were operating in Ginny as Monique reports “Ginny qualified in 2 AKC Fast CAT trials (100 yard dash) on Saturday in New Jersey and then 5 of 8 Novice odor classes at the first New England AKC Scent Work trials in New Hampshire on Sunday”

Great weekend everybody!!
