Another month gone

Still Glen of Imaal Terrier people show their dogs to the world.

Belfast was a triumph for Abberann with Conan Best of Breed (and obviously Best Veteran) and his daughter Reach for the Stars Ryanne Best Bitch. Reserve Dog was Cosmic Cowboy with Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae Reserve Bitch. Gleann Una Noonan was another Best Veteran & BOB at Aland Dog Show in Finland, Gleann Indico Indy was Best Dog.

Over in the States the Terrier Club of Michigan is the week before Montgomery and it picks up a good entry as the west and mid country terriers head east. Best of Breed was Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta with Kilkenny’s Love & Happiness Best Opposite. Monroe KC has two days of shows after the Terrier Club so again nice entries. Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas was Best plus OHG4 with Across the Universe Best Bitch at the first show with the results being switched around at show 2. At Suffolk County KC Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney  took Best there and Group 4 and she was also BOB at Westbury KA.

Glens were also flying the flag at the Malvern Autumn Show in the World of Animals.

Great going everyone

..and we’re back!

What have we missed? It must have been something good as there were over 600 visitors on the 9/10 of February. If you were one of them do let us know what you were looking for-we still might be able to help.

Well “the biggie” of the AKC is gone and done with a triumph for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. Taylor had certainly had a good run pre the event with two Group 4s and numbers 15 & 16 Group 1s. He celebrated his Westminster win with two Group 2s and a Group 3 on his return to Florida. Best Opposite to him in New York was Tipperary American Girl. Ber-D-Mar Sweet William o’Shea was picking up BOBs all over but the best named place must surely be Northern Neck KC of Virginia! Kate Flack was also out with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas notching up 3 x BOb as well as 2 Owner Handler placements.

Finland doesn’t stop for the darker months. Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was busy picking up Junior Championships in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. At Turku International Dog Show Best of Breed was awarded to Gleann Una Noonan with Rosears Master of the House Best Dog. Lahti Puppy Show saw Madra Athas Ceinlys Chead Ghra took a tremendous Group 2 award. Kajani Show was a BOB for Finnabair North American Nebulon with Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Bitch.

We weren’t as quiet as we usually are with Manchester now being in the “closed” period. Best of Breed was Boudivella Tegan with Romainville Becks Blue with Zippor Best Dog. Pajantick Hot Totty was Best Puppy. West Midlands Terrier had Jeonty Minnie MeMe BOB, Golden Spurs Reserve Best of Breed and Jeonty Letty Be Magic Best Puppy. Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire saw Amhard High Flyer getting the nod for Best of Breed and Amhard Manhatten was Reserve as well as Best Puppy. There aren’t a lot of Glen of Imaal Terriers in Scotland so showing is done in the highly competitive Variety classes but Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae is certainly getting noticed. A Puppy Group 4 was excellent but then at Coatbridge, Airdrie & District BAVNSC Terrier, Terrier G1, Terrier Puppy G1 and Best Puppy In Show were all added to her precocious bow.

Jeonty Junior Fire and Ice was “The Man” in Eindhoven and he did it again at Gent as well as being pulled in the Group. Boudivella Osca also made the trip over and as Junior is still that, a junior, he picked up the CACIB.

The brains of the breed were not being rested. Quite a few Rally qualifications have been won but two ladies send the BIG news for Glens.Ginny spent two recent weekends having fun at AKC Scent Work trials.  She finished her Novice Buried & Interior titles to add to her already completed Exterior & Container titles, becoming the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn an overall AKC Scent Work Novice (SWN) title!  She also earned a Container Novice Elite title (SCNE) by qualifying for the 10th time in that class. Qualifying runs were also received in the Advanced Interior & Advanced Exterior classes (4th place)!   Louise sends news of Tula “Here’s to Tula who earned her Elite Division Level 1 Nose Work title today-another first for Glens. She makes me proud every day”.

Very well done and huge congratulations!! Don’t forget to send along anything you think may be of interest to the worldwide Glen family.

Rolling up to Christmas……

….with the Eukanuba/AKC National Championships in Florida. What a great idea to have a cluster of shows somewhere sunny as December takes a grip. No wonder there was a nice Glen of Imaal Terrier entry. The results were very, very similar with Killkenny Over The Universe to Setanta and Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend making clean sweeps of the top awards (Over The Universe with BOB, Friend of A Friend Best Opposite) with the Selects slightly different. The same results held at the final show-The AKC National Championships with Keadean’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas and Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right taking Select with Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam Of Cnoc Best of Winners. The cluster also saw the final of the National Owner Handler Series and Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas cemented his top spot for Glens when he got the nod for BOB. The first Puppy Stakes to be run with the event occurred and the Glen Best Puppy was Finnabair DD Shut Up & Kiss Me.

The Swedish Winners was a Best of Breed for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode with Rosears Master of The House being awarded Best Dog.

Kelli and Griff were at their last Trial of the year at the Clever Dog Academy NADAC agility trial. Five quailifying runs in two days. What an end to a quite sensational year!!

Great going everybody

It’s October….

…and still Glen of Imaal Terrier people continue on.

A weekend of shows in the Ukraine saw Rosears Master of the House take Best of Breed both days with Caireann Chasdubh take Best Opposite one day and Gleann Elite Ellie the other. In Finland the Loviisa Puppy Show was a triumph for Gleann Indico Indy as she was waved to Group 2. Staing in Europe, and this time Germany. Rostock had a CAC and a CACIB show. Hadberg Xzibit was triumphant both days and My Dear Fellow Alwine de CoCo was Best Bitch one day and My Dear Fellow Beltaine de CoCo the other.

As it’s the run up to the Montgomery Cluster Glen of Imaal people from all over the States are travelling east which is giving some nice entries. At Terrier Club of Michigan Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow took Best of Breed with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas Best Dog. Monroe Kennel Club was a BOB (and OHG4) for Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette with Best Bitch going to Caoimhe of Pine Meadow and on day 2 Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas took the honours with Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta

Word of how the Glen of Imaal booth had gone on at Malvern Autumn Show World of Animals arrived too late for last week’s round up but the word was one of “success” in all quarters. If anybody would like to do their bit at the National Pet Show at the NEC on November 4-5 Tony Hadley, via email or telephone 07577582182 would love to hear from you. Who knows you may get to see Supervet himself!

The breed brains were operating in Ginny as Monique reports “Ginny qualified in 2 AKC Fast CAT trials (100 yard dash) on Saturday in New Jersey and then 5 of 8 Novice odor classes at the first New England AKC Scent Work trials in New Hampshire on Sunday”

Great weekend everybody!!

Glen owners just go on and on.

Glen of Imaal Terrier owners just keep going on and on in showing the world how good our breed is.

Can’t recollect a Romanian result before and as for calling it the Dracula Show…….it was seven Best of Breeds and a Grand Romanian Championship for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. In Finland Porvoo All Breed Show was a BOB for Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat with Best Opposite Sex going to Marfidal Santa Baby. London & Home Counties Terrier saw Kirikee Celtic Warrior take home the big rosette.

A couple of late results from last week. The St Clairsville KC Cluster ended with Tipperary American Girl taking another Best of Breed and OHG2 with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Dog. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Group 3 and Best Puppy in Group in Canad and then followed it on with another 3 x Best Puppy in Group this weekend plus a Group 4. Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend was in Oklahoma and added two Group 4s to his increasing tally. Souhegan Kennel Club was a Best of Breed for Briarhill Beatrice. Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta had an excellent weekend at back to back shows in Des Moines, Iowa with a Group 1 & 3. Why is she with a Dachshund in the photograph? Theresa owns it as well and it took BIS so two for her in the Group ring…nice one indeed!

The Barn Hunt aficionados were having a ball.  Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc qualified in Instinct & Novice. Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas gained the last qualifier to get his Open title and then did his first Senior run and earned his first qualifier. Brains and beauty boys.

Congratulations to all

Keeping up

Glen of Imaal Terrier people keep on going right throughout the summer…that may or may not arrive in the UK.

Haapavesi Group Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard took Best of Breed and Group 4-not a usual occurrence in Europe. Best Opposite Sex was Pearytail Cruella de Gleann which earned her her Finnish Championship. Pearytail Candy McCoy added  Lithuanian Champion to her name when she was BOB there. Valkeakoski All Breed Show saw Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take BOB, and earn his first CAC from his first time in the Junior class. Over in Ireland Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne took Best of Breed at Dun Laoghaire.

In America at Beaver County KC Tipperary American Girl was Best of Breed and at Columbian County KC Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was Best of Breed. Fabulous news indeed of Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas who is now in the top 30 IN THE COUNTRY of the AKC Owner Handler Series. News That there now is a Canadian Champion Glen and that honour of the first made up goes to Abberann Phelan.

The “brains” department is well represented by Ginny who earned her RATO (Open Barn Hunt) title and was so fast she came in first.

Finally a reminder of the Dutch Glen Games on the 16th & 17th September. If anybody fancies a weekend away you’ll be very, very welcome!

The Game Fair was down at Hatfield House, Hertford and Glen of Imaal Terriers were there in the Discover Dogs area. Had an email that said “nice to see the Glens there” and just learnt (thanks Nicki) it was the Hanningtons manning the fort as well as the Atkins. Just as important as any dog show.

The Finnish Glen Speciality mentioned last week was far more than just a one day dog show as there was a weekend Glen happening which also included weight pulling, lure coursing, lots of competitions for children etc.

Well done indeed everybody!!

Great news that Laura Trainor and Niamh have had the call for the 2017 AKC Agility Invational

Great going everybody!!!

Twice IN ONE WEEK!!!!!

Even the  most ardent Glen of Imaal Terrier fan must admit that Glens aren’t exactly the usual animal chosen by Best In Show judges. Not that many of us manage to get through the Group, never mind getting the nod for the Ultimate Rosette, but this week TWO Glens have flown the breed flag loud and proud.

In France at a Terrier Specialty Pajantick Razzamatazz  was the first one to get the pointed finger to the Top Spot. Over in America a cluster in Oklahoma saw an unbelievable 4 Group 1sts, 1 RBIS and 1 BIS for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. Gentlemen we salute you!! Tipperary American Girl gave a shout for the ladies with a Group 3 at Bushy Run Kennel Club.

At Windsor Boudivella Osca was BOB with Boudivella Tegan Best Bitch and Best Puppy. Bray was a nod for the ever young Abberann Conan with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite. Over in Scandinavia Tuusula All Breed was a success for Jeonty Just a Dream Ansa and her Finnish Championship. It was the same at Riihimaki when Pearytail Candy McCoy’s BOB also gave her a Finnish Champion, Rosears Master of the House was Best Dog. At the Midnight Show in Gallivare (Sweden) BOB was Gleann Eager Edgar with Gleann Gilda with Nelli Best Bitch.

Gabriella Isabella writes “Hurray! It was the Glen- weekend at our terrierclubshow in Wittau-Großenzersdorf. Duana was second best an on sunday best baby. Mum Aoife was second and third best longlegged terrier. And what a surprise Bairre, Aoife and Duana were selected as best breeding group. We were so happy, to see our breeding acivities honored. Thank you to all that made our success possible” and Kate Flack brings us all up to date on her BIG dog showing trip “Left home June 12 & of the 14 possible show days we showed 10. Em (Keadean Sir Emmet Mingus Glas) worked hard – but our daily routine and focus paid off: 1-Terrier Group 1 (Judge Robert Hutton); 3 Terrier Group 4s (Judges Del Richards, Kenneth Berg, Carolyn Graham); 1 NOHS BIS (Judge Evalyn Gregory); 2 NOHS RBIS (Judges Robert Hutton, Wendy Maisey); 5 NOHS Terrier Gr1; 2 NOHS Terrier Gr2; 2 NOHS Terrier Gr3; and, 2 NOHS Terrier Gr4.”

Everybody, you are such a credit to us all!!!

Is this one of the most successful weekends ever ever?

Glen of Imaal Terriers had one heck of a weekend. Amongst other things Group placements, Group wins and a Best in Show have been the order of the last few days!!!

First up has to be Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend with three Group 1 placements and a Best in Show. These were at Central Florida KC, Space Coast KC of Palm Bay-got to love that name-and Brevard Kennel Club were he was then awarded the biggie, Best In Show. Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas hasn’t exactly been slacking either with a Group 1 at Electric City KC and then Owner Handler RBIS. Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta was in Minnesota and added two Group 3s and two Group 4s whilst Abberann Derbla was notching a Group 3 in Maine. Up in Canada Abberann Phelan took a Group 3.

Back across to Europe and at Rovaniemi International BOB was Glenrosedale Ardal Ridire Ain Ri with Astoreen taking Best Bitch. At Blackpool Romainville Becks Blue for Zippoor was Best of Breed with Romainville Moira Best Opposite. Slovenia Winner went to Cairdiulacht Aoife Nicalainna the week after she took Mediterranean Winner and Enci Winner 17 in Milan. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage and Golden Spurs were flying the Glen flag at Chesire Show, not easy in populace variety, but both came home with cards and one was a red one.

Jeff Dairiki wasn’t showing his boys in the exhibition ring but was out giving them some brain practice and writes “Ciarán went 3 for 5 in the masters ring this weekend, earning a HIC on Friday. (I never thought that would ever happen, the way he holds on to tubes.) Quinn went 5 for 5, earning his RATCH! Quinn also got to do five crazy 8 runs, earning 280 points for the weekend”

Glen of Imaal Terriers and their people….awesome!!!
