Catching up, Group Placings and National Terrier

Kate Flack sends Glen of Imaal Terrier news:- Late report from the large Kentuckiana 4- day cluster in Louisville, Kentucky, March 16 – 19. HG: A big well run show … and though I had hoped for some spring weather, Louisville greeted us with temps in the low 40s – mid 50s … not quite spring weather. Over the 4 days, the BOB awards were split evenly between GCH Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta and GCH Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas. Grand champion points were earned each Keadeen’s Second Start to the Right and GCH Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore, as each had Select three times and once for OS. Finally, a cheer for puppy bitch Abberann Be Brave, who showed with spirit, taking Best of Winners on Saturday and collecting her first point. CONGRATULATIONS to all.

In the UK it was National Terrier and two very pleased exhibitors. Golden Spurs took his first CC and Best of Breed with Wickholm Breaking Dawn taking her second CC. The two Reserves (respectively) were awarded to Romainville Fast’n’Furious at Wickholm & Jeonty Minnie MeMe. Best Puppy was Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage. Over in Ireland it was Portadown and Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore took the BOB award home over Best Dog Abberann Conan. In Finland at Jamikeskus Pearytail Cruella de Gleann (great name) took Best of Breed.

More US news and three Group placings of 1, 2 & 4 for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend at an Oklahoma Cluster. Western Pennsylvania Kennel Association saw Tipperary American Girl take Best of Breed and add to her Owner Handler Group placements with an OHG4 on one day & OHG3 the next. The two Opposites were  her son Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc and half brother Tipperary Columbo.

Kelli & Griffin were also out and about “A lovely clean run for Griffin in standard today so that makes for a new title, NAP! This Q and run are dedicated in memory of Griffin’s sire: GCH Rainbow Springs Wicklows Warrior of Ber-D-Mar; run free at the bridge Big Finn. 😘 XOXO” Finn & Kelli’s run are on YouTube

Brilliant weekend everybody.

…and we’re back!

Let’s be honest here the intention wasn’t to be back until next Monday but boy oh boy you have kept us in your email box! It’s flattering to know that Glen of Imaal Terrier people think to include the blog in their thoughts. This year there have even been emails saying they’ll catch us up with the news when we “get back” so (if you haven’t forgotten what you wanted to tell us) we’re open for business again.

The UK may have been basically in hibernation show wise but not Finland and the USA. They have been out with great enthusiasm and they love to share-as we love to hear about-and there have been multiple referrals from the same show in some cases which does lead to a bit of eye crossing some times. If you are listed with the wrong place or result do let us know.

Starting in mid January in Wisconsin with two Group 4 placements for Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta. Staying in that part of the world next for a tremendous blast from the past….and what a blast. Abberann Conan (yes, Homer) is currently in the States showing to the US dog show fraternity that, in Glens at least, the breed gets better as it gets older. He took Terrier Veteran Group 1 at the first day of a cluster in Michigan. His granddaughter Across The Universe was BOB on all three days, picking up another couple of Group placements and son Torcan was BOBOH Gp4. That isn’t a brain fade as Theresa had him, not Carlos. Also Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow picked up OHG3 as well. Great publicity for Glens.

Over on the West Coast it was the Rose City Classic in Oregon with a new Champion crowned. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette took BOB for three days with Keadean’s Second Star to the Right BOS to him. She did the same on Friday but this time it was Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas taking Best of Breed and on Sunday she bowed the paw to Kilkenny’s Love and Happiness and that made him into an AKC Champion. The breed was also out in Florida and Pennsylvania with Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock BOB at Greater Gainsville Dog Fanciers and at Erie Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham was BOB & OHG4. Finishing the American section with two, yes two, Best In Shows down in New Mexico for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. What a result on the run in to Westminster!!!

The Finns put us all to shame with their enthusiasm so here goes:-At Kajaani International Show Best of Breed was Highlanders Dream Casper. He did the same again at the Tallinn Winter Cup with Pearytail Black Cat Best Bitch and he was Best Opposite to Pearytail Candy McCoy at Turku International. Tallinn Terrier Speciality saw Rosears Kate The Duchess get the nod. Lahti Puppy Show saw Rosears Master of the House given the nod with Rosears Maid Marion Best Opposite.

Manchester Championship Show saw a Best of Breed for Golden Spur and he did the same at West Midlands Terrier.

So very well done to everybody!!

Slight indulgence by us. The photo of Across The Universe is not the one sent by the owner, it was sent by somebody else so hope they don’t mind. Is it not the best picture ever of a Glen’s attitude? You may wave a finger at me in the nicest way but I’m taking no notice….okay I may be out the corner of my eye. There had to be two of Homer to show how well he is looking.

South Shore Kennel Club saw Daulton’s Wild Night Galore take Best of Breed but the star of the day was Best Opposite Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Lily who was BOB Owner Handler, then took the Terrier Group Owner Handler and finally ended up as RBISOH! Friday at South Shore had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea take the BOB rosette home with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney Best Bitch. Cape Cod KC was another BOB for Daulton’s Wild Night Galore and another BB for Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney and this was repeated again on Sunday. Licking River Kennel Club (love that name) saw another Group Placement when BOB Daulton’s Rory took OH Group 3, Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow was Best Opposite on the first day with another Owner Handler Group placement, this time 4, on the second day for Rory with Emerald Isle Keeley with Daulton taking Best Bitch. Greater Lafayette Kennel Club had, yet another, Glen getting the nod for a Group placement with Abberann Torcan getting Gp2.

All these fabulous awards deserve fabulous congratulations but the honour of the day has to go to Kylee. Owner Laura Trainor writes:-CH Rainbow Springs Kylee of Cnoc CD RE OAP OJP OFP CGCA has earned her Senior Barn Hunt title at the Central Bark trial in Central Square, NY. Not too bad for a 12 year old!

Well done everybody and if you’re in the UK and thinking of entering Midland Counties Show (Terrier Day Thursday 22nd October) where Stephen Holmes is judging Glens you need to get a move on as entries close today
