Catching up with A LOT!

Holy Macaroni, Glen of Imaal Terriers have been doing us all so proud over the last couple of weeks it’s hard to know where to start!

Canada can take the honours this week as it is a very rare breed there in the showring so Groups are the thing for competition. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Gp1 and Gp4 United Kennel Club and Group 2 x2 at Moncton. Abberann Derbla 2 X Gp3 at Credit Valley Kennel Club plus Gp4 Georgina KC. Staying on that Continent and Gleann Damn Daisy, holidaying there from Finland, is getting seriously noticed with a GP3 at Central Florida KC, GP4 at Jacksonville Dog Fanciers plus BOB at the 2nd show, 2 BOBs at Treasure Coast KC of Florida, BOB Seminole Dog Fanciers Association plus GP2 at Seminole’s second show, Greater Ocala Dog Club was another BOB. BOS at Jacksonville was a new name to the blog, Long Lake Pharms Angus Fuller. Welcome to showing Glens and love your kennel name. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock was BOB Space Coast Kennel Club of Palm Bay and the second Greater Ocala.

Leaving Florida and going to Pennsylvania Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was BOB Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association & both Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Tipperary American Girl took BOB Penn Treaty KC. Heading north and west Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta, Gp4 at Pontiac KC & Greater Muskegon KC, BOB at Grand Rapids KC, Dayton KC, Lima KC with Abberann Lament for Owen Roe picking up GP4 at Kalamazoo KC and Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore OHG4 at Pontiac KC and Grand Rapids. Daulton’s Gedunk Malone from Emerald Isle picked up the last BOB of the weekend from Ohio

Northern Europe and Gleann Una Noonan has to do the lead in. Best Opposite at the Norwegian Winners as well as BOS at Jyvaskyla (Day 2) she was Best veteran in Breed day one and then took Best Veteran in Show out of over 70 veterans competing for the honour! Gleann Bigwig was BOB at the Norwegian Winners to her and Gleann Indico Indy at Jyvaskyla. Day 1 of that show saw Gleann Cotton Cody & Gleann Dear Dandelion taking the top honours. To Norway again and Rosears Master of The House was BOB Nordic Winners with BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. Vaxjo (Sweden) was a BOB for Rosears Master of The House with Rosears Nugget of Gold Best Bitch. Flipping to the Danish Winners and Cairdiulacht Diarmuid MacMiolmor took Best and BOS was Rosears Nugget of Gold. Gleann Kooky Kanye was BOB at Lempäälä Puppy Show with Best Opposite Sex to Meomodo Dancing Angel. Two Best of Breeds in Germany for My Dear Fellow Calimero The Angel and in Rotterdam Amhard Manhattan took Best of Breed and his Dutch Junior Championship. Belgium to finish off and Boudivella Osca took BOB at both the Euro Dog Show & Benelux with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best Opposite at both.

Said it had been a serious bit of breed promotion and it isn’t done yet. The “brains” department was also flying the flag. Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae passed her Silver Good Citizens and “Poppy” (need a name) in America also took her Good Citizens and earned 90 out of 100 in Rally Advanced. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette qualified RATCHX7 which makes him the highest qualified barn Hunting Glen in the USA. Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took his BCAT title to show how incredibly diverse Glens are as a breed.

All over the world Glen of Imaal Terrier folk regularly give their time to promote the breed at many exhibitions and events. The National Pet Show was held recently and Alfie, Basil, Gil, Inga and Murfi showed everybody just what a Glen is. It’s also great when breed owners decide to get together “just for fun” as happened recently with the New Jersey Fall Glen Gathering.

All of us are wowed with your dedication and talent to show the breed in so many places!

Catching up

Championship, Open, Breed, Variety, Brains & serious socilising..Glen of Imaal Terriers have been doing their stuff this weekend.

Where to start this weekend? Finland as the breed’s fabulous Veterans are saluted. At Hyvinkaa Group Show Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed, Best Veteran & Group 3. marfidal Rain Dance was Best Opposite Sex to her. In Tallinn Rosears Master of the House was BOB whilst at the Danish Winners Gleann Gildea with Nelli was Best of Breed and Gleann Ho Ho Hogan Best Dog. The Danish Club Specialty Show on the following day had Abberann Celtic Princess in the top spot with Gleann Ho Ho Hogan Best Dog.

A bit quieter weekend in America (people getting prepared for Montgomery perhaps) but still Group placements.  Two Group 2s for Kilkenny Across The Universe at Setanta at Sheboygan and a OHG4 for Tipperary That Girl who was Best Bitch to Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friends BOB at Butler County who Himself then took a Group 2 at the second Butler County Show. West Volusia KC saw Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock take Best of Breed.

Glens were in varieties in the UK and most successfully. Boudivella Osca was at Bedfordshire Canine Society where he took Best NSC, Group 4 and 1st in the Vulnerable Breed Stakes. Up in Scotland Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was at Perthshire CC and was rewarded with a Group 1 placement from NSC Terrier.

Monique writes that “Ginny earned her AKC Advanced Interior Scent Work title on Sunday.  This title combined with the 3 earned last weekend in Advanced Buried, Container, and Exterior completes the requirements for her overall Scent Work Advanced (SWA) title!” and the Dutch Glen Games in the Netherlands were evidently a total blast and the NE Glen Gathering in Massachusetts had a wonderful time practising sociability for their big 25th next year!

Great weekend everybody.

What a First!

Glen of Imaal Terriers triumph in many fields but how about this…..Laura Trainor writes:- Niamh (GCH PACH Niamh of Cnoc CD PCD BN RE MXP9 MXPG MJP7 MJPS PAX2 MFP T2BP JE RATM CGCA TKI) earned her RATCH today at Central Bark. This makes her the first Triple Champion Glen earning Championships in three different disciplines! Just awesome and then Jeff Dairiki writes:- both boys hunted as well as they ever have this weekend at The Club at Argus Ranch’s Barn Hunt trials. Both dogs had a 100% Q-rate through the long weekend! That was just enough for Ciarán to earn his RATCHX6 and Quinn his RATCHX5 in the final trial of the weekend. (Both dogs notched up Crazy 8 titles as well — Ciarán platinum, and Quinn gold.) What a weekend for the breed in other disciplines.

Porvoo All Breed Show in Finland saw Rosears Master of the House BOB with Gleann Una Noonan Best Bitch & Best Veteran. The N.I. Terrier Association Group Championship Show was a Best of Breed for Abberann Cosmic Cowboy and kennelmate Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite Sex. London & Home Counties Terrier was where Wickholm Breaking Dawn got the nod over Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm and at Lochabers Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae took 5th, and money, in a huge Open Bitch Stakes (not bad at 13 months old) and then won Good Citizens with over 20 in the class…….oh yes and £10. In The States at Umpqua KC Keadeen Second Star To The Right was BOB and she repeated it at South Oregon Kennel Club. The exhibiting biggie of the weekend was Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta winning the Terrier Group both days in Kenosha Wisconsin and Reserve Best in Show on Saturday.

You all do us so proud.

Beginning the Year with “of the Year”

Happy New Year to anybody and everybody connected in any way with Glen of Imaal Terriers.

The beginning of a new year means the announcements of the various Glens of the Year from the one before. Even though it is only January 2nd some have already declared. In the UK the No.1 was Golden Spurs with Top Puppy being shared between Boudivella Tegan & Jeonty Jyn A New Hope. Finland saw Highlander’s Dream Casper be awarded Glen of The Year with Gleann Indico Indy Top Puppy.

The USA “sort of” declares two. As the country is so big and there are so many (often small to European eyes) shows Top Dogs are declared from All Breed and Breed standings:-one deals with Group placings, Group wins and Best In Shows and the other deals with wins against their own breed. Remarkably the one and two in both rankings are the same, just places changed. Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend is Top Glen in All Breed and number 2 in Breed standings and Kilkenny’s Across The Universe To Setanta is number one Breed Glen and number 2 All Breed.

Congratulations everybody and if other countries would like to send their top results they can be included with welcome

What a busy weekend

Top spot for the Glen of Imaal Terrier catch up must be America this week. The beginning of October is the biggie in the US terrier world of what is known as the Montgomery Cluster which is four shows. Number one was the first Hatboro with a win for Kilkenny’s Across The Universe of Setanta with Ber-D-Mar William O’Shea Best Opposite. Hatboro 2 saw Abberann Phelan (down from Canada) make a strike for the males with Keadeen Second Star To The Right Best Bitch. Devon was a repeat of Hatboro One and that it was Montgomery and it was a triumph for the Glens that had come all the way over from the North West of America when Second Star To The Right was awarded Best of Breed (3 out of the 4 days going to bitches) and Best Dog to Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas. What a fabulous day for the Tighes to have bred both winners at such a show.

It was a double at South Wales Kennel Association as well. Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty took his 3rd ticket and Best of Breed whilst Jeonty Jyn a New Hope was the Bitch CC winner and Best Puppy; father and daughter The two Reserves were also a double as Boudivella Osca and Romainville Uptown Girl are a son and mother. The Gleann affix had a marvellous weekend as Gleann Holy Hannah was Group 2 in Canada, Best Puppy in Group and became a Canadian Champion one day and a Gp4 and BPIG the next, whilst in Norway Gleann Easter Eamon was Best of Breed and became a Nordic Champion to make three Champions in three different countries on the same weekend.

Tuulos had two days of shows with Jeonty Just a Dream Ansa taking BOB & Meomodo Trick or Treat taking Best Opposite one day with Rosears Master of the House & Rosears Everything U Wish The Other, BOB & BOS respectively on the other. Hyvinkaa Puppy Show saw Gleann Indico Indy get the nod for Best of Breed with Glenrosedale Dubheasa darina getting Best Bitch.

Montgomery is THE US Terrier event in more ways than one as they do agility and Barnhunt as well. Laura Trainor sends a report the Glen brains also did pretty good there with Ciaran and Quinn both getting a Q twice in Master Barnhunt, Niamh one in Master and Liam once in Instinct. Niamh also Q’d in Master Standard Agility twice and Master Jumpers once. Over in California Louise Lopez’s Sullivan was obtaining his “title ribbon for Nose Work Element Specialty Level 1 Interiors.”

Glen of Imaal Terriers Rock!!!!!

Glen owners just go on and on.

Glen of Imaal Terrier owners just keep going on and on in showing the world how good our breed is.

Can’t recollect a Romanian result before and as for calling it the Dracula Show…….it was seven Best of Breeds and a Grand Romanian Championship for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. In Finland Porvoo All Breed Show was a BOB for Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat with Best Opposite Sex going to Marfidal Santa Baby. London & Home Counties Terrier saw Kirikee Celtic Warrior take home the big rosette.

A couple of late results from last week. The St Clairsville KC Cluster ended with Tipperary American Girl taking another Best of Breed and OHG2 with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Dog. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Group 3 and Best Puppy in Group in Canad and then followed it on with another 3 x Best Puppy in Group this weekend plus a Group 4. Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend was in Oklahoma and added two Group 4s to his increasing tally. Souhegan Kennel Club was a Best of Breed for Briarhill Beatrice. Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta had an excellent weekend at back to back shows in Des Moines, Iowa with a Group 1 & 3. Why is she with a Dachshund in the photograph? Theresa owns it as well and it took BIS so two for her in the Group ring…nice one indeed!

The Barn Hunt aficionados were having a ball.  Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc qualified in Instinct & Novice. Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas gained the last qualifier to get his Open title and then did his first Senior run and earned his first qualifier. Brains and beauty boys.

Congratulations to all

September starts with a swing

It’s rather nice to start September with a Group 1 and Best In Show3 for a Glen of Imaal Terrier. Gleann Indico Indy did it at Kihnio Puppy Show! Rosears Master of the House took Best of Breed in Estonia which gave him an Estonian & Latvian Junior Championship. In Germany Gleann Holly at Spirit of Ireland took her 2nd BOB on her second trip out.

Over in America a group of shows in Kentucky saw Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta take all 4 Best of Breeds with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas taking Best Dog each time and also an OHG2. Beaver County KC was a win for Tipperary American Girl with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore, Best Opposite. At St Clairesville (Ohio) Kennel Club Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was BOB & OHG3 with Tipperary American Girl Best Bitch. American Girl repeated her BOB at Fort Steuben Kennel Association with a OHG4 with Wild Night taking Best Dog. Up in Canada Gleann Holy Hannah took a Group 4 and Best Puppy In Group

Liam (Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc) showed his “brains” by qualifying twice in Instinct for Earthdog whilst Quinn showed how good he his and obtained his Senior Earthdog!!

It was the inaugural Southern Glen Walk and Lynne Fraser sends the following.”Delighted to say that we had 10 Glens and their people who joined us for a walk on the Racecourse. It was lovely to meet in person so many people I have met through Glens on facebook and for them to meet each other, I feel that strong friendships have been formed. Everyone was very kind and we have decided that next time we would like to find a village hall in the area and have a ‘Glen gathering’ for those who would like to come.  I think that another Glen walk will definitely be in order! Thank you to everyone who came and to all the Glens for being well behaved!

Great weekend indeed everybody!!

New Champions

Not too much catching up this week but lots of excitement in two Glen of Imaal Terrier households with two new Champions being made up. At Leeds Championship Show 3rd CCs went to both the Best of Breed Golden Spurs and the Best Bitch Wickholm Breaking Dawn. Reserves were Boudivella Oscar and Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm with Boudivella Tegan Best Puppy.

Last weekend Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas at Coos Bay KC took a Group 3 and OH Group 3  and Sunday a Group 4 and OH Group 1. Terrier Association of Oregon was a BOB for Keadeen Second Star To The Right with Sir Emmet Best Dog. Great news that Laura Trainor and Niamh have had the call for the 2017 AKC Agility Invational

Great going everybody!!!

Is this one of the most successful weekends ever ever?

Glen of Imaal Terriers had one heck of a weekend. Amongst other things Group placements, Group wins and a Best in Show have been the order of the last few days!!!

First up has to be Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend with three Group 1 placements and a Best in Show. These were at Central Florida KC, Space Coast KC of Palm Bay-got to love that name-and Brevard Kennel Club were he was then awarded the biggie, Best In Show. Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas hasn’t exactly been slacking either with a Group 1 at Electric City KC and then Owner Handler RBIS. Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta was in Minnesota and added two Group 3s and two Group 4s whilst Abberann Derbla was notching a Group 3 in Maine. Up in Canada Abberann Phelan took a Group 3.

Back across to Europe and at Rovaniemi International BOB was Glenrosedale Ardal Ridire Ain Ri with Astoreen taking Best Bitch. At Blackpool Romainville Becks Blue for Zippoor was Best of Breed with Romainville Moira Best Opposite. Slovenia Winner went to Cairdiulacht Aoife Nicalainna the week after she took Mediterranean Winner and Enci Winner 17 in Milan. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage and Golden Spurs were flying the Glen flag at Chesire Show, not easy in populace variety, but both came home with cards and one was a red one.

Jeff Dairiki wasn’t showing his boys in the exhibition ring but was out giving them some brain practice and writes “Ciarán went 3 for 5 in the masters ring this weekend, earning a HIC on Friday. (I never thought that would ever happen, the way he holds on to tubes.) Quinn went 5 for 5, earning his RATCH! Quinn also got to do five crazy 8 runs, earning 280 points for the weekend”

Glen of Imaal Terriers and their people….awesome!!!

Glen folk….always busy

Two choruses of “Summertime” and the Glen of Imaal Terrier world continues to shine.

At Swords Show in Ireland Abberann Conan was Best of Breed with Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne Best Bitch. In Norway (not many results from there) at Tromso International Glenrosedale Ardal Ridire Ain Ri took the top spot with Gleann Gilda with Nelli Best Opposite. Kotka International was a success for Pearytail Cherry Bomb with Gleann Eager Edgar leading the dogs.

Over in the States a win that I’m not sure has been covered before; a Bred By Exhibitor Best In Show. Does any country have this other than America? Finnabair Caatskill Bring It On at Broc Rua was the lady who annexed it at Greater Venice Florida Dog Club. Finnabair Caatskill Goldie was BOB there and Coleraine’s Hob Nobs at Caraglen BOS at one of the shows with Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend annexing BOB above Caatskill Goldie Best Opposite. St Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association saw a Group 4 for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend with Bring It On Best Bitch and at the second show it was again Double D-plus another Gp4-Finnabair Shorelyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight BB. Echo Hills Kennel Club of Ohio two day show was a (2)Best of Breed for Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow and Daulton’s Ciaran at Pine Meadow took (2)Best of Opposite Sex. Back to Back shows at Bryn Mawr (PA) saw Tipperary Columbo victorious both days ahead of Tipperary American Girl.

The Group placements continue to come with Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta Best of Breed Thurs, Friday, Saturday at Grayslake with Abberann Torcan taking it on the Sunday. Aberann Phelan has now added Canadian Champion to his tally with a Group, 2 Group 2s and a Group 3! Also hearing of a Group Placement for Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas in Idaho….anybody care to send the details? Kate saw the appeal and sends the following “Emmet and I are now nearly halfway through the annual 14 day Idaho/Montana show circuit. The circuit starts in Filer, Idaho with a 2 day show hosted by the Snake River KC show. Judges Terry Stacy and R C Williams awarded Emmet a NOHS Terrier Group 1 and 2 before we moved on to Blackfoot, Idaho. We showed 2 of the 4 Blackfoot KC show days earning a Terrier Group 4 under Judge Kenneth Berg and both a NOHS Terrier Group 1 and 2 under Judges Pamela Peat and John Wade. Now, for the last 8 days of consecutive show days spread over 3 different Montana venues: Billings, Great falls and Missoula. I’ll keep you posted –

Congratulations indeed everybody!!
