Let’s applaud ourselves…we deserve it!

Let’s start the Glen of Imaal Terrier round up for this last weekend in the UK with the EFG Open Show. It continued the “double theme” of National Terrier with both Best Dog & Bitch going to the same kennel. Golden Spurs was Best Dog (and Best In Show) with Romainville Billy Whizz Reserve Best Dog who also took Reserve Best In Show. Best Bitch (and Best Opposite in Show) went to Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage over Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm as Reserve Bitch with Lola, at one month short of 10, taking Best Veteran. Best Puppy was Jeonty Glynis Making Magic at Zippor. The EFG is held in conjunction with Birmingham Gundog & Terrier-the only time currently that Glen people can show twice in one day under two different judges-with Boudivella Osca taking Best of Breed there and Jeonty Jyn A New Hope Best Bitch. Also a Glen was performing in the very competitive NSC classes with Kingcottage Boogie on Basil taking Best NSC at Llanelli and District Canine Society Open Dog Show .

A quick flip west to Ireland for the Mid West Champ Show and Best of Breed Abberann Cosmic Cowboy. East to mainland Europe and Latvia with a BOB for Marfidal Pleasant Surprise and then Lithuania for their National All Breed Show and Finnabair North American Nebulon who took home the BOB rosette. Not often results from the Czech Republic so excellent to hear that Sachem Sagittarius was BOB at Budejovice. Coming back this way again, to Antwerp, it was Jeonty Junior Fire and Ice flying the breed flag there to BOB.

Way west to the States and here are the Group placers. Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas was BOB, and Group 2, at Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers with half sister Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right Best Opposite and the result was the same for the second show and Lewis Clark Kennel Club.  Western Carolina Dog Fanciers Association saw another  2 Group placements, Gp 1 & Gp4, for Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend. News of a Terrier Puppy Group 1 at the Central Ohio KC Puppy Match for Finnabair Broc Rua Pegasus with Shorlyne. Columbia Terrier and Old Dominion KC of Northern Virginia saw double Best of Breed for Tipperary Columbo with Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskills Comedy Tonight Best Opposite at both. Columbo was again BOB at Baltimore County KC. A Baby Puppy Group 1 for Kilkenny’s The Gift Outright to Irish Spirits at Central Ohio KC.

Breed brains were doing well and Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae got her entry into The Good Citizen class at shows by qualifying at 8 months old. Kelli Whitfield sends news that “Griffin played NADAC agility on Friday. He earned his first Open Touch N Go qualifying score and first place as Winston cheered him on! Monique sends word “Ginny earned her first Q and placed first in a Novice Preferred Jumpers class at an AKC Agility trial this weekend!!!”

People, you are just amazing!!

Staying (mainly)this side of the pond.

For the first time in ages no Glen of Imaal Terrier show news from America but we’re still out and about at the shows this side of the pond.

Back to back shows in Estonia & Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat took Best of Breed both days and a Group 4. Best of Breed at Turku was Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo whilst at Joensuu Rosears Master of the House took home the BOB rosette. On the home front Kingcottage Boogie on Basil was at the Vale of Glamorgan and was rewarded with the Best of Breed rosette

The US news comes from the “brains” side of the family as Ginny qualified first time in the Introduction To Quarry class and Jeff Dairiki reports that The Wicklow Trio took first place at the first ever Barn Hunt Academy tag team barn hunt. They found nine rats in under three and a half minutes

Well done all!

We do good!

Only one Group placing (but a possible 2nd) for Glen of Imaal Terriers this last week….and it isn’t that long ago the breed rarely saw high honours. Highlander Dream Casper was Gp3 at Tampere Puppy Show in Finland and a whisper has come in of a possible Gp2 for Romainville Bilbo Baggins but confirmation is needed of that.

In Ireland at Bangor All Breed Show Abberann Phelan was Best of Breed with BOS being awarded to Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore. Belarus Winners Weekend saw double Best of Breed for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode whilst at Porvoo the top Glen rosette went to Finnabair American Nebulon with Meomodo Fantabulous Amy getting the nod for Best Bitch. In America Daulton’s Wild Night Galore did the double at Somerset Hills KC and Westchester. Kingscottage Boogie on basil does great flag flying for the breed in Varieties and added to his total with Best NSC at Llanelli & District CS.

Well done everybody!

What a weekend!

Group placings galore for Glen of Imaal Terriers with a Group 1 and 3, yes 3 in 3 different countries, Group 4s plus a Best Puppy In Show! Glens also accounted for an Open Show Group 4 as well. Is this the breed’s most successful weekend ever? The Group 1 was annexed by Abberann Torcan in America and the 3s by his brother Phelan in Ireland, another US placing by Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore and Finland saw Gleann Elite Ellie take the third. Best Puppy was also Stateside with Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit.

It was at Anderson KC where Torcan triumphed, Tioga County KC for Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore, Clonmel for Abberann Phelan (Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite) and Heinola All Breed had Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo taking Best Opposite to Gleann Elite Ellie. Kilkenny’s Midleton of Irish Spirit besides the BPIS also took a Puppy Group 2 and it was Pembroke Dog Show (Wales) that saw Kingcottage Boogie on Basil take the Open Show Group placement.

In Estonia 3 Best of Breeds were awarded to Gleann Eager Edgar and at Kouvola Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo took BOB. The German Winners Show at Leipzig saw a double double with BOB going to Fire & Ice Liberty, BOS to Fire & Ice Moonraker and the two Junior Winners to McJakes Aivy and Mcjakes Ayle. At Olympic Kennel Club Keadeen’s Second Star to the Right took Best of Breed with Keadeens Blue Boy for Bluesette Best Opposite.

Welsh Kennel Club saw a new Champion with Pajantick Star Trooper taking the all important 3rd CC and Best of Breed. Best Bitch was awarded to Romainville Fade To Grey with the two Reserves being Golden Spur and Romainville Maggie May. Best Puppy was new kid on the block Wickholm Breaking Dawn very ably handled by young Emily Sage. Best Veteran was awarded to Donvaleset Rebus

Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas added another string to the bow with a CA (coursing aptitude) award

What a weekend, what a breed!!

The 2016 World Show….and others with a BIG NEWS in there!

The 2016 World Show may have been in Moscow but Glen of Imaal Terrier people were there. It was a three day event for Terrier folk and a 3 day success for Gleann Bigwig & Pearytail Artless Tess as they got BOB & BOS 3 days out of 3. Meomodo Fantasterrific Arien was Junior World Winner with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Junior on the other two days.

At Blackpool Young May Moon took Best of Breed with Bendikes Edward Bear at Squiresbeach Best Opposite. Over in America Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore took top spot in Glens at both Mid-Hudson & Shawangunk KC whilst Keadeen Blue Boy for Bluesette did “beauty & brains” par excellence with an Owner Handler Group 3 and obtained his Barn Hunt Q!

As a Breed we aren’t often awarded with Best In Show but we have a new recruit to those hallowed ranks. Kingcottage Boogie on Basil took Best Not Separately Classified, then the Terrier Group and then the ultimate, ultimate finger point for Best In Show at Carmarthen! His photograph was sent but the editorial decision has been made to go with the rosette shot as Beth’s OMG he gave it us face isn’t exactly flattering on her.

Applause for everybody and particularly Basil.

Catching up with the news.

Glen of Imaal Terrier folk continue to get out and about. The Glen Association Open Show, judged by Nicki Montford, saw Romainville Rock On Ruby (Daughter of Billy Whizz BIS at the EFG Open Show) getting the applause for Best In Show with Kirikee Celtic Warrior Best Dog. Best Puppy, at his first show, Kingcottage Boogie on Basil and Best Veteran to Donvaleset Rebus.

At Riihimäki All Breed Show BOB was Rosears Humpty Dumpty and BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode with Bilbo’s Searlet taking Best Puppy. What a great weekend for GCH Abberann Torcan as he continues to rack up the group placements with a Group 2 and 4 at Wheaton.  His son Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore earned his AKC championship title with Winner’s Dog and Best of Winners at the Illinois show. These follow on a couple of back to back Group 4s.

Some late breaking news to add from the McKinley KC show held in Canton, Ohio yesterday, where Bronze Grand Champion Emerald Isle’s Keely with Daulton (Keely) was awarded a Terrier Group 4 under Judge Colonel Joe B. Purkhiser; breed judge was Mrs. Dennis (Mary Lou) Kniola. It was her 9th group placement under 9 different judges. Keely also went Owner-Handler Group 1 under Judge Kniola. Keely was handled by co-breeder, co-owner Jody Daulton. Ann Marie Pember is also co-breeder and other co-owners are Pam Estes and my wife Sheila Beyer Thomas and myself (Terry).

Kate Flack sends the following:Three day show held at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup Washington: Friday, June 5th’s Western Washington All Terrier Show: BOB to KEADEEN’S BLUE BOY FOR BLUESETTE (Aka Ciaran). Bred by A Tighe, J Kindall, and shown by co-owner Jeff Dairiki. Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7, the Puyallup/Tacoma KC Cluster. Judges Mariano Gatica Gomez and Merle Taylor awarded BOB both days to KEADEEN’S SIR EMMET MINGUS GLAS, (call name Emmet), also bred by Tighe & Kindall, and shown by co-owner Kate Flack.I didn’t credit the judge (Christine Erickson) on Friday as giving BOB to Jeff because well, Friday was complicated. She awarded BOB to me but I was DQ’d. When I registered online I checked the wrong class. I walked into the ring competing with Em as a 9-12 month puppy and then was awarded BOB.I realized my mistake, reported to the Superintendent, gave the ribbons to Jeff and was disqualified. Jeff won’t show up as BOB until the AKC notes the birthdate on my dog but, he will eventually. NOTE TO SELF: Read the confirmation letters that I receive in the mail carefully …… just to make sure I didn’t make an online error. A mistake in class can be corrected by the Superintendent until you step foot in the ring. Feel free to publish the Note to Self – maybe my mistake will keep someone else from making the error.

Congratulations to everybody and particular thanks to Kate for sharing her mistake; do check your entry forms.
