Crufts at 9.00am

Blimey 9.00am in the ring is early. Everybody made it though and there were even spectators. Thank you for supporting Glen of Imaal Terriers even though it meant getting up at silly o’clock.

All-rounder judge Jeff Horswell restarted a Glen on the trail when he awarded Pajantick Razamataz his second CC and BOB. “Restarted” is the word as Quinn got his first CC at the ridiculously early age of 7 months. Shown lightly as a youngster he is now coming to maturity and has taken a Best In Show in France plus Best of Breed at Midland Counties last year. Reserve Dog CC went to Abberann Cosmic Cowboy, Nick & Ann are certainly devotees making the trek over from Ireland each year. Bitch CC was taken home to Shropshire by Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage and there was no mistaking the joy of the Reserve CC owner; floodlights will probably be ordered to hightlight Jeonty Letty Be Magic’s cards.

Once more Kirikee Celtic Warrior was Best Veteran (ready for the third year in 2020?) and Best Puppy was Borderglens Michaelmas. First showdog and winning that at Crufts, what an introduction.

Glen of Imaal Terrier owners just keep going on and on in showing the world how good our breed is.

Can’t recollect a Romanian result before and as for calling it the Dracula Show…….it was seven Best of Breeds and a Grand Romanian Championship for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. In Finland Porvoo All Breed Show was a BOB for Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat with Best Opposite Sex going to Marfidal Santa Baby. London & Home Counties Terrier saw Kirikee Celtic Warrior take home the big rosette.

A couple of late results from last week. The St Clairsville KC Cluster ended with Tipperary American Girl taking another Best of Breed and OHG2 with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Dog. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Group 3 and Best Puppy in Group in Canad and then followed it on with another 3 x Best Puppy in Group this weekend plus a Group 4. Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend was in Oklahoma and added two Group 4s to his increasing tally. Souhegan Kennel Club was a Best of Breed for Briarhill Beatrice. Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta had an excellent weekend at back to back shows in Des Moines, Iowa with a Group 1 & 3. Why is she with a Dachshund in the photograph? Theresa owns it as well and it took BIS so two for her in the Group ring…nice one indeed!

The Barn Hunt aficionados were having a ball.  Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc qualified in Instinct & Novice. Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas gained the last qualifier to get his Open title and then did his first Senior run and earned his first qualifier. Brains and beauty boys.

Glen Association Critique

GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER ASSOCIATION OPEN SHOW 7TH JUNE 2015

Firstly, thank you to the committee for awarding me the appointment of judging the club open show. It was a great honour and I thoroughly enjoyed myself (Once the nerves had subsided!) Thank you also to all the exhibitors who took time and in some cases, travelled a great distance to attend the show.

PUPPY DOG (2) Basil and Thyme, what lovely names and two young dogs full of personality that just shone through. The names did cause a giggle between their owners.

1^st Rogers Kingcottage Boogie on Basil. Six months old and full of personality. Great body shape and outline, good width of skull, strong jaw and bone with strong muscle. Correct scissor bite, nice dark eye and harsh coat. Looking forward to seeing this young dog mature. BPD and BPIS

2^nd Hardy’s Amhard Just in Thyme Ten months old, good body shape, correct scissor bite, good width of skull and nice harsh coat. Number one took my eye on the day.

JUNIOR DOG (1)

1^st Dunnings Romainville Freddies Choice Stood alone in the class, but still a worthy first place. Good shape of skull and correct scissor bite, nice eye. New coat starting to oome through and a little unsetttled on the move.

POST GRADUATE DOG (4)

1^st Squires Benedikes Edward Bear. Nice harsh coat, strong head with good width of skull, correct bite, good width of rib with a strong front and nice dark eye.

2^nd Alstead Golden Spurs

LIMIT DOG (5,2)

1^st Frasers Kirikee Celtic Warrior. Fantastic harsh coat, great strong head, with good width of skull. Correct scissor bite. Good dark eye. Great width across the shoulders, strong topline, front and bone. Covered the ground well. Was pleased to award him both BD and RBIS

2^nd Georges Romainville Jazz Man

1^st Pennys Grizzlemarsh Digby good head and correct bite, strong chest, nice dark eye. Good coat Moved much better once on a lose lead.

VETERAN (2,1)

1^st Hadley’s Donvaleset Rebus Stood alone in the class, but still a well deserved first place. Great harsh coat, strong jaw and fore face. Nice dark eye and good on the move. RBD

PUPPY BITCH (1)

1^st O’Brien & James Amhard Jessie Jay 10 months old, lovely character. Great harsh coat, correct bite. Good width of skull, with a nice dark eye. Covered the ground well.. Was happy to award her BPB

JUNIOR (2,1)

1^st Hardy and Tune Amhard Jeez Louise 10 months old, nice harsh coat, nice bone, correct scissor bite. Just not as steady on the move today, but lots of time to settle and mature.

POST GRADUATE (4,1)

1^st Hardys Amhard Indy Kate good strength of head and width of body. Nice eye with a pleasing expression. Movement was great once the lead was loosened.

1^st George Romainville Fade to Grey Nice size, good body shape and topline. Correct strong jaw and bite, great coat. Pleasing dark eye. Covered the ground well.

1^st Georges Romainville Rock on Ruby. This yound lady caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring. Stong jaw, correct scissor bite with great width of skull. Good strong neck, shoulders and front. Excellent bone and substance. In great coat and she covered the ground well. Was delighted to be able to award her both BB and BIS

2^nd Lamb and Judges Eileen Alannah

VETERAN BITCH (2)

1^st Hadleys Donvaleset Dominio strong muscular front, good topline and width of rib. Strong foreface and nice harsh coat.
