He has to lead the round up in…

…I’m sure every Glen of Imaal Terrier owner will understand and cheer this superb animal.

Monique writes the following:- Oliver qualified in all 4 Nosework classes held yesterday (Containers & Exteriors) at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Auburn, NH. This new canine scenting organization awarded their first titles ever and I’m proud to say that Ollie accumulated enough qualifying runs to earn a Novice Containers title! The old guy rocked! He has participated in quite a few sports & organizations, and his complete name is now:
ARBA CH. Rainbow Springs Oliver Twist SE RN RATI RATS NW2 L1I SD-NC

On the exhibition front Blackpool saw a Best of Breed for Ch Kirikee Ronan O’Gara with Best Bitch going to Amhard Indy Kate. At Kilkenny Ch Abberann Phelan took the top spot with Ch Abberann Dervla BOS. Over in Europe Gallivare International had Gleann Ungus MacGuire in the number one spot with Gleann Balloo Girl taking Best Bitch. Over in the States Ch Abberann Torcan continued his Group tally with a Gp 4 at West Bend Wisconsin.

Great going people!

Wow, everybody was busy!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people had a very busy weekend. At Welsh Kennel Club BOB was awarded to Romainville Ellie with the dog ticket going to Kirikee Ronan O’Gara and thus making him a Champion!! The two reserves were Young May Moon & Romainville Billy Whizz with Bonny Nell getting Best Puppy. Over in Finland Gleann Rabarber Drom was Best of Breed & Best veteran at Raisio. In Denmark at the Danish Terrier Show Rosears Humpty Dumpty was Best of Breed, became a Danish Champion & then got the nod for Reserve Best In Show! Clonmel in Ireland was a double for brother & sister Abberann Phelan & Dervla with Phelan going BOB.

In American Glentyrs Lady Isabelle at Castlerock was BOB at Greater Hickory Kennel Club (what a great name) and GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton took two Group 4s in Ohio. Whilst all the showing was going on Laura Trainor was out Barn Hunting with Kylee & Niamh and both saw qualifiers in Novice.

Well done to everybody!

Applause (as usual) for..

…the weekend Glen of Imaal Terrier people.

The Glen Gathering in Boxborough MA was a great day out with everything covered from Agility to Grooming to Barn Hunting to talks on nutrition. In Denmark the Copenhagen Winners saw Hammersmolles Idunn getting the nod for Best of Breed over McCormac Setna Sithbacc as Best Opposite. The Brussels International Show had Glenrosedale Aiobheann NionRos take the big rosette home. At Driffield Kirikee Ronan O’Gara was BOB.

A belated result from the weekend before; at the Irish Natives Breed Show BOB was Abberann Karl with Best Opposite to Abberann Ennya.

Busy few days!

A lot of Glen of Imaal Terrier showing over the past few days. Starting in the UK Leeds Championship Show had Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty taking Best Dog and Best of Breed with his kennel mate Jeonty MeMe Fern being awarded Best Bitch. Leeds only has one Challenge Certificate on offer and that went to Victor with the Reserve CC going to the Reserve Dog Kirikee Ronan O’Gara.

In Finland the HKI/Eukanuba Show saw Abberann Fagan being awarded BOB with Gleann Rabarber Drom Best Opposite and Best Veteran. America had a cluster of shows in Ohio and Best of Breed on all 3 days was GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton (taking Group 3 one of the days). Best Opposite to him was Ch Tipperary American Girl, Ch Daultons Rosalee and GCH Daultons Emerald Green respectively. Due to the high number of professional handlers and multi-owners in the States they run a competition not known in Europe, “Owner Handler”.  Tipperary American Girl was Group 3 and Group 1 in the Terrier Owner Handler Group. Also in America Henderson KC had GlenTyrs Lady Isabella at Castlerock as BOB.

Before doing the well-earned congratulations all round there has to be another mention. Wendy Tobijanski has been associated with Glens for a long, long time but over the weekend took the 50th BOB, and Group 4, with her Cesky. What a record!!

Lots of congratulations to everybody and it’s difficult, in such an illustrious list, to pick what pictures to use but in recognition of such an event it’ll have to be Wendy-shown below carrying her mother’s American Cocker Spaniel whilst a younger Brenda and Liz walk the Glens in.

A sunny weekend

The “Swedish Bash” in Eskilstuna had wonderful weather and a fabulous atmosphere is reported. Best of Breed Glen of Imaal Terrier, under judge John Hartigan, was Abberann Fagan with Pearytail Artless Tess Best Bitch. Fagan then went on to take Reserve Best In Show-or Best In Show 2 as it is known in Scandinavia-so an excellent result.

The Irish Sporting Glen Club had a get together and they were also blessed by the weather God. The Quinns are summer holidaying in Ireland and, up to yet, Kirikee Ronan O’Gara has taken 3 Green Stars. Finally Sue Sutton had a smile as big as the sun when her Bailielands Leanbh Orga took the Green Star and Best of Breed at Sligo to make her up to an Irish Champion (subject to IKC confirmation).

Big congratulations everybody!

As the year moves into Autumn…

…Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about.

At Driffield Championship Show Best Dog (and Best of Breed) was awarded to Kirikee Ronan O’Gara with Amhard Ginger Snap Best Bitch. In Ireland there were back to back shows-one national and one international-and Ch Abberann Karl was BOB at both. The American Kennel Club really give dogs, and owners, a chance to test their brains and “Sullivan” Lopez passed his Odour Recognition Test. An individual scent discrimination test is a new award to folk east of the Atlantic Ocean. Well done everybody.

Catch up time.

Birmingham National (under judge Fran Kaye) saw Best of Breed Glen of Imaal Terrier awarded to Kirikee Ronan O’Gara-his first big award–and BOS to Romainville Lily. Romainville Billy Whizz continued his National Terrier win with Best Puppy was Rserve Best Dog. Tampere International Show in Finland had Gleann Ode Best of Breed and Gleann Vagabond BOS. Over in Ireland Ch Abberann Karl was BOB at South Tipperary and Ir/Ch Abberann Ennya was BOB at Fermoy International. Well done everybody
