Shows R Us

It was the big weekend for American Glen of Imaal Terrier enthusiasts with Montgomery Terrier Show (where the American Club Specialty is held) and the accompanying cluster of Hatboro 1 & 2, Devon and this year Morris & Essex which is only held every 5 years. Everything was looking good and then it happened; Hurricane Joaquin. Devon had to throw in the towel as it is held on a show site at the bottom of a hill but the two Hatboro Shows went ahead in, for the second one, truly awful conditions. Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton and Bar-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea took BOB & BOS at Hatboro 1 and then swopped positions for Morris & Essex. Sweet William was again in the top awards at Hatboro 2 but had to bow a paw to his sister Bar-D-Mar Charm One of Wicklow.

There was an excellent entry of 47 for Montgomery. Finnabair Ardmore Ned came out of retirement to take Best of Breed and then on to make the first cut in the Group. Only the second time for the breed at this show. Best Opposite Sex was Keely. Liberty’s Darren of Daulton was Best Veteran with Best Puppy being awarded to Tipperary Sweet Rosie O’Grady. Tipperary That Girl was the winner of Bred By. American Shows also award “Select” and these went to Darren and Finnabair Song O’ My Heart. Brace was won by Laura Trainor’s Niamh & Kylee and they now get to keep the trophy!

Not all US Glens were at Montgomery though as Abberann Torcan was continuing to fly his very successful flag in the Mid West with 2 Group Ones and a Reserve Best in Show at Stone City, Illinois. The Abberann affix was also flying in Ireland with a Best of Breed for Abberann Phelan with Best Bitch being awarded to Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore. At Tuulos Group Show in Finland Gleann Damn Daisy took Top Honours. At IJsselshow 2015  (Zwolle, Netherlands) My Dear Fellow Billy The Kid McJake’s was the boy who took home the big rosette.

Congratulations everybody-a great weekend!

Top Glens 2013

Not many Top Glen of Imaal Terriers have been announced yet but as it’s already mid January let’s hear applause for the ones that have.

DENMARK: Ch Hammersmolles Idunn owned by Gitte Thornsen

FINLAND: Ch Gleann Ungus MacGuire owned by Tiina Assinen

UK: Ch Johnny Be Good at Romainville owned by Cresta Garner

USA: GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton owned by Jody Daulton and Pam Estes

Well done all and when your country announces their “of the Year” do let us know!

Summing up the weekend.

In the US there was a decent Glen of Imaal Terrier entry at the cluster of shows around Terrier Club of Michigan. It was a total success for GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton taking Best of Breed at all three events with GCH Daulton’s Clodagh from Cill Dara standing Best Opposite. Piedmont KC has a back to back weekend and GCH Kilkenny’s Sullivan of Castlerock took Gp3 & 4 as well as BOB both days.

Northern Ireland held its only KC Championship Show and BOB Glen there was Ch Abberann Karl with Jeonty MeMe Fern taking the Bitch Ticket. The German Winners at Leipzig saw Spirit of Ireland Batida de Coco taking the 2013 title. At Maastricht Carrighglen Big Boy did the double and a Puppy Group 3 for Ellerton Dusky Beauty at Cleethorpes.

In Sweden the Glen club organised an Autumn walk and the good weather was very enjoyed.

Over Whitsun weekend..

….Tipperary American Girl became a New Champion and as it is number four for breeder Jo Lynn she becomes an AKC Breeder of Merit. Also in the States GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton had two Group 4s at back to back to shows in Ohio.  At Iitti Group Show in Finland Rosears Heads or tails was Best of Breed and Rosears AbloomingBud Best Opposite Sex.

Bath Championship Show saw Glen of Imaal Terrier judge Paul Eardley award the BOB and CC to Johnny Be Good at Romainville with Reserve Dog going to Romainville Billy Wizz. Best Bitch went to Bregorrey Madam Defiance and the Reserve to Brockland Belle Bregorrey. Jeonty MeMe Fern took the Best Puppy award. Madam Defiance makes number three from the litter to take a senior award (in the UK) whilst still in Junior; has there been a litter since the famed Ginger’s Fashion/Princess Leia kids to win so well so young?

Also over the weekend

Glen of Imaal Terriers, and their owners, were getting out and about. At Belfast Championship Show Best of Breed was awarded to Ir/Ch Abberann Ennya with the Dog Ticket going to Int Ch Brockland Brayhead Lad. The two Reserve CCs went to Ch Brockland Belle Bregorrey and Romainville Brannigan at Brockland.

In America  GCH Finnabair Song O’My Heart had back to back Group 4s at Jacksonville Dog Fanciers’ Association and GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton was also Gp4 at Monroe, Michigan. At the Terrier Club of Michigan GCH Cill Dara’s Fergus of Daulton was Best of Breed.

And in the brains and beauty league more from the USA.

“A fine weekend for Coursing Ability Tests in Hollister (CA) – 3 tests sponsored by the Basenji Club of Northern California and a rare Sunday afternoon test by the Monterey Bay Coursing Association. Saturday runs opened in a cold morning fog which burned off late morning and finished in mid-70s sunshine for the afternoon. Sunday was clear and temperatures climbed quickly, but never reached the predicted 90 degrees (unlike Livermore which hit around 102F).

Quinn (now unofficially Caatskill’s Mighty Quinn JE CA) ran his first four CATs and qualified in each, giving him the Coursing Ability title and one leg toward Coursing Ability Advanced (CAA). Molly (Ch Maille of Cnoc JE RN CA)had two Qs going into the weekend and earned two more for her title and a start on CAA.”

Well done everybody!

Busy weekend!

In the UK Leeds Championship Show saw Ch/Int Ch Brockland Brayhead Lad took BOB from Veteran with Ch Donvaleset Brier getting the nod for the bitch ticket over Ch Winni Wanna Make Music at Jeonty. Reserve Dog was Kirikee Ronan O’Gara with a debuting puppy, Bregorrey Lady Belleisle, taking home the BPIB rosette.

In the USA GCH Liberty’s Darren of Daulton was BOB in an entry of 15 at Dan Emmett Kennel Club whilst Finland, at Pori International, Ch Taramont Phelan was BOB. The latest Champion in the Glen of Imaal Terrier world is Carrighglen Big Boy who has added French Champion to the front of his name. Well done to everybody
