It might be a Bank Holiday in the UK but elsewhere it’s business as usual!

Glen of Imaal Terriers (and their people) do us all so proud. Going Native to begin with for this week’s round up with “The Circuit” in Ireland. The final three shows were Killarney, Tralee & Limerick. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage was BOB at Killarney and Limerick and Best Bitch at Tralee where Abberann Cosmic Cowboy was Best of Breed. He was Best Opposite at Limerick. No classes for Glens at Scottish Kennel Club so Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was entered into the Not Separately Classifieds and bought honour to the breed with being awarded Best Bitch.

In Finland the Riihimaki Nordic Show saw Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take Best of Breed. At Vantaa Terrier Specialty Show Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed and Best Veteran with Gleann Cotton Cody Best Dog. At Ristiina BOB was Marfidal Devil’s Rock with Marfidal Up To Your Ears Best Opposite.

In America Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc axed the BOBs at Tioga County & Susque-Nango KC. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic was in Georgia with Best of Breed at Griffin KC and Sawnee Mountain KC but Best Opposite at Conyers KC and Lawrenceville KC where Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was Best of Breed. Hearing news of two new Champions. Subject to AKC confirmation Daulton’s Eli from Emerald Isle and Tipperary Sweet Rosie O’Grady (who took an OHG4 on the day) are now Champions.

Our “brains department” has also been performing. Monique reports that “Ginny performed various exercises around sheep, ducks, and farm equipment the last 2 weekends to be evaluated on how she would behave when exposed to livestock and the sights/sounds/scents of a farm environment. She passed 2 of these tests and is now AKC Farm Dog Certified.” Quinn-Kilkenny’s Love and Happiness-has completed the requirements for the GITCA Master Versatility lifetime award as he can now put CAA CGCA CZ8S RATCHX4 SE TKN after his name. Laura Trainor received the following email:-  CONGRATULATIONS!! I am writing because your above-mentioned dog is listed on the AKC 2018 Agility Invitational Top 15 by Breed report that was published this morning

August it is

Where is the year going…August already but Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still bring the breed’s name to the fore. Last week we applauded under 12 months Keadeen’s By Happy Chance taking a G1 and this week we’re beginning again with “the kiddies” as Tipperary Uptown Girl takes a Group 1 & 2 in the (not sure what it’s called in America) Baby Puppy 4-6 month competition.

A group of 10 Finns may have already started their journey to Amsterdam but the shows in their home country continue. Three shows over three days at Kuopio saw the honours go to Gleann Ho Ho Hogan with Pearytail Bonnie B Good Best Opposite, Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat BOB Bonnie again BOS and the 3rd show was Astoreen Best of Breed with Gleann Hogan Best Dog. In Sweden Gleann Bigwig took a Best of Breed.

Over in the States it was double BOBs (Fort Steuben & Beaver County KC) for Tipperary That Girl. A cluster of shows in Virginia had Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta take 3 Best of Breeds and a G4. Abberann Phelan had to bow the paw at all three shows.

In the Brains Department Monique sends news of Ginny who “qualified twice with first place finishes this weekend in AKC agility and earned her Novice Jumpers Preferred (NJP) title.”   So she is now Elric’s Gin & Tonic NJP ACT1 BCAT RATO TKP SWN SCNE

Congrats to all.

Blimey, we’ve been busy

Many parts of the world have been recording very high temperatures but Glen of Imaal Terrier folk obviously thrive on the heat.

For a change let’s start the round up in Canada. Not a big dog showing country but boy do they like Glens with Gleann Holy Hannah taking 2 x Group 1, 2x Group 2 and 2x Reserve Best In Show and Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend taking the full set in Groups, one, two, three and four all on the same weekend!

In Finland at the Nastola Group Show Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was Best of Breed, at the Nordic Pearytail Bonnie B Goode was BOB with Rosears Impromptu Best Dog and at Pori International Gleann Ungus MacGuire was BOB with Balloo Girl Best Opposite. Mikkeli International saw Gleann Indico Indy getting the nod for Best of Breed

In Ireland Poachersmoon Sissy McGinty was Best of Breed and at the EFG Fun Day (another event that was hot, hot, hot) a Dachshund was Best In Show and the Glen (who was on holiday from Germany) was Reserve Best In Show. By the weekend of Leeds Championship Show the weather had become wet, wet, wet but that didn’t stop Golden Spurs (Best Dog) and kennel mate Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best of Breed. The two Reserves to Boudivella Osca and Jeonty Dreams A Dream at Karensbrae.

The American branch of the family has been VERY active. Laura Trainor sends the following information:- 7/12 BOB OHG2, G2 GCH DAULTON’S CAOIMHE OF PINE MEADOW CA. Owner: Jody Daulton & PJ Estes & Ann Marie Pember    BOS CH DAULTON’S CIARAN OF PINE MEADOW Owner: JB & Nina Lawton & PJ Estes & Jody Daulton.

At Grand River Kennel Club Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy tonight was Best of Breed (and G4) with Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc again Best Opposite that was the icing on his Best of Winners at Ashtabula KC on the 12th July as that was the final points for his American Championship. Caoimhe is really on song at the moment as BOB was also taken (twice) at Dan Emmett KC along with an OHG4 as well as two Best of Breeds at Western Reserve KC where a G4 and an OHG3 were collected as well. The two Best Opposites were Daulton’s Gedunk Malone from Emerald Isle and Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen. Marion (Ohio) KC also fell to her with Ciaran Best Dog again

Continuing in the States a new star arose at Terrier Association Of Oregon when Keadeen’s Happy Chance-at just under a year old-was nodded to for Best of Breed and then he took OHG1 and Group 4. Best Botch was Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right. The back to back shows at Portland Kennel Club saw Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right triumph at both with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas and Keadeen’s Happy Go Lucky the Best Opposites. Another young star has also emerged further down the country at Woodstock Dog Club when 7 months old Kilkenny’s Stopping By Woods was Best Opposite and PG3 to his mother Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney. This was again repeated at Green Mountain whilst at Green Mountain second show Rooney took the honours again with Ballyhae’s Winter Sunshine taking Best Opposite.

Way to go people!!

Easter successes

It may have been easter but some Glen of Imaal Terriers (and their people) were out and about flying the flag. In Ireland at Combined Canine Abberann Cosmic Cowboy was Best of Breed whilst in the UK Amhard Manhattan was taking BP, BOB & Puppy Group 4. Two days of showing at Imatra (Finland) resulted in a Best of Breed for Finnabair North American Nebulon on Day 1 and the International Show on day 2 had Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take BOB & his first CACIB. Over in Sweden at Malmo McCormac Setna Sithbacc took Best of Breed over his half sister Olga.

Nice going everybody!

..and we’re back!

What have we missed? It must have been something good as there were over 600 visitors on the 9/10 of February. If you were one of them do let us know what you were looking for-we still might be able to help.

Well “the biggie” of the AKC is gone and done with a triumph for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. Taylor had certainly had a good run pre the event with two Group 4s and numbers 15 & 16 Group 1s. He celebrated his Westminster win with two Group 2s and a Group 3 on his return to Florida. Best Opposite to him in New York was Tipperary American Girl. Ber-D-Mar Sweet William o’Shea was picking up BOBs all over but the best named place must surely be Northern Neck KC of Virginia! Kate Flack was also out with Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas notching up 3 x BOb as well as 2 Owner Handler placements.

Finland doesn’t stop for the darker months. Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat was busy picking up Junior Championships in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. At Turku International Dog Show Best of Breed was awarded to Gleann Una Noonan with Rosears Master of the House Best Dog. Lahti Puppy Show saw Madra Athas Ceinlys Chead Ghra took a tremendous Group 2 award. Kajani Show was a BOB for Finnabair North American Nebulon with Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Bitch.

We weren’t as quiet as we usually are with Manchester now being in the “closed” period. Best of Breed was Boudivella Tegan with Romainville Becks Blue with Zippor Best Dog. Pajantick Hot Totty was Best Puppy. West Midlands Terrier had Jeonty Minnie MeMe BOB, Golden Spurs Reserve Best of Breed and Jeonty Letty Be Magic Best Puppy. Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire saw Amhard High Flyer getting the nod for Best of Breed and Amhard Manhatten was Reserve as well as Best Puppy. There aren’t a lot of Glen of Imaal Terriers in Scotland so showing is done in the highly competitive Variety classes but Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae is certainly getting noticed. A Puppy Group 4 was excellent but then at Coatbridge, Airdrie & District BAVNSC Terrier, Terrier G1, Terrier Puppy G1 and Best Puppy In Show were all added to her precocious bow.

Jeonty Junior Fire and Ice was “The Man” in Eindhoven and he did it again at Gent as well as being pulled in the Group. Boudivella Osca also made the trip over and as Junior is still that, a junior, he picked up the CACIB.

The brains of the breed were not being rested. Quite a few Rally qualifications have been won but two ladies send the BIG news for Glens.Ginny spent two recent weekends having fun at AKC Scent Work trials.  She finished her Novice Buried & Interior titles to add to her already completed Exterior & Container titles, becoming the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn an overall AKC Scent Work Novice (SWN) title!  She also earned a Container Novice Elite title (SCNE) by qualifying for the 10th time in that class. Qualifying runs were also received in the Advanced Interior & Advanced Exterior classes (4th place)!   Louise sends news of Tula “Here’s to Tula who earned her Elite Division Level 1 Nose Work title today-another first for Glens. She makes me proud every day”.

Very well done and huge congratulations!! Don’t forget to send along anything you think may be of interest to the worldwide Glen family.

Glen owners just go on and on.

Glen of Imaal Terrier owners just keep going on and on in showing the world how good our breed is.

Can’t recollect a Romanian result before and as for calling it the Dracula Show…….it was seven Best of Breeds and a Grand Romanian Championship for Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. In Finland Porvoo All Breed Show was a BOB for Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat with Best Opposite Sex going to Marfidal Santa Baby. London & Home Counties Terrier saw Kirikee Celtic Warrior take home the big rosette.

A couple of late results from last week. The St Clairsville KC Cluster ended with Tipperary American Girl taking another Best of Breed and OHG2 with Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore Best Dog. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Group 3 and Best Puppy in Group in Canad and then followed it on with another 3 x Best Puppy in Group this weekend plus a Group 4. Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend was in Oklahoma and added two Group 4s to his increasing tally. Souhegan Kennel Club was a Best of Breed for Briarhill Beatrice. Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta had an excellent weekend at back to back shows in Des Moines, Iowa with a Group 1 & 3. Why is she with a Dachshund in the photograph? Theresa owns it as well and it took BIS so two for her in the Group ring…nice one indeed!

The Barn Hunt aficionados were having a ball.  Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc qualified in Instinct & Novice. Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas gained the last qualifier to get his Open title and then did his first Senior run and earned his first qualifier. Brains and beauty boys.

Congratulations to all

Staying (mainly)this side of the pond.

For the first time in ages no Glen of Imaal Terrier show news from America but we’re still out and about at the shows this side of the pond.

Back to back shows in Estonia & Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat took Best of Breed both days and a Group 4. Best of Breed at Turku was Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo whilst at Joensuu Rosears Master of the House took home the BOB rosette. On the home front Kingcottage Boogie on Basil was at the Vale of Glamorgan and was rewarded with the Best of Breed rosette

The US news comes from the “brains” side of the family as Ginny qualified first time in the Introduction To Quarry class and Jeff Dairiki reports that The Wicklow Trio took first place at the first ever Barn Hunt Academy tag team barn hunt. They found nine rats in under three and a half minutes

Well done all!

Keeping up

Glen of Imaal Terrier people keep on going right throughout the summer…that may or may not arrive in the UK.

Haapavesi Group Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard took Best of Breed and Group 4-not a usual occurrence in Europe. Best Opposite Sex was Pearytail Cruella de Gleann which earned her her Finnish Championship. Pearytail Candy McCoy added  Lithuanian Champion to her name when she was BOB there. Valkeakoski All Breed Show saw Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take BOB, and earn his first CAC from his first time in the Junior class. Over in Ireland Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne took Best of Breed at Dun Laoghaire.

In America at Beaver County KC Tipperary American Girl was Best of Breed and at Columbian County KC Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was Best of Breed. Fabulous news indeed of Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas who is now in the top 30 IN THE COUNTRY of the AKC Owner Handler Series. News That there now is a Canadian Champion Glen and that honour of the first made up goes to Abberann Phelan.

The “brains” department is well represented by Ginny who earned her RATO (Open Barn Hunt) title and was so fast she came in first.

Finally a reminder of the Dutch Glen Games on the 16th & 17th September. If anybody fancies a weekend away you’ll be very, very welcome!

Incredibly busy few weeks!!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people never stop; new titles, new Champions, Group placings, even a Best Puppy In Show, it’s been a great few weeks.

There has been a lot of beauty but also there has been a lot of brains. Monique sends news that “Ginny had fun at the Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) trial on Saturday, qualifying in 4 out of 5 nosework classes and earning a title in Novice Containers. Also Ginny qualified for the third time in the Novice Barn Hunt class, earning her RATN title! She then moved up to the Open class for the afternoon trial and was successful again. Both of her runs were first place finishes also!” Also a celebration of (one) new title for Glens when Bregorrey Sovereign Storm added a CBAT to the end of his name by titling in the Fast CAT. Stormy was clocked at an incredible 22 mph! The American Kennel Club has just introduced a Trick Dog title. The all performing pair of Winston & Griff are the first two Glens to be awarded the titles.

Lets go showing: At WELKS Romainville Billy Whizz was nodded to BOB with Romainville Jean Genie Best Bitch and at The National Romainville Fast N’furious At Wickholm was Best of Breed with Romainville Fade To Grey BOS and getting made up to Champion. Over in Ireland Abberann Conan took home the big rosette from both South Tipperary and Fermoy, Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore & Abberann Reach for the Stars Ryanne were the respective Best Opposites. At the Dutch Glen Club Show Best In Show was Cairdiulacht Breanainn MacAngus with McJake’s Aivy Best Bitch

Fabulous news of a Best Puppy in Show for Meomodo Bohos Trick or Treat and Highlanders Dream Casper added to his BOB list (and took Group 4) with Gleann Funny Fifi Stiubhard Best Bitch. At another show Gleann Bigwig was The Man with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Opposite. Salo Group Specialty had Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo BOB with Taramont Niamh Tirnan’Og BOS and Best Veteran. In Estonia Gleann Eager Edgar took two Best of Breeds and his Estonian Championship.

Canadian news and Abberann Phelan has started his career there with a Group 4, Group2 & Group 1-some debut indeed. First news (I think) from Idaho, at the Palous Hill Dog Fanciers back to back shows Keadeen Second Star to the Right took 2 BOBs and Gp 1 to become a Grand Champion. Kilkenny Across the Universe at Setanta added a Gp3 & 4 to her tally and Finnair Double D Friend of a Friend took four Best of Breeds and a Gp4 at Trenton & Bucks County Shows. His Best Opposites were Tipperary American Girl, Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskills Comedy Tonight & Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore twice. Tipperary American Girl took her own Best of Breeds at Columbia Terrier Association of Maryland & Old Dominian KC of North Virginia where her son Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc was Best Dog. American Girl was Best Opposite again, but this time at Ber-D-Mar Nate The Great of Wicklow at Baltimore County KC. Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore was also notching up the BOBs at Springfield KC, Pioneer Valley KC and South Windsor.

Terrier Club of Michigan saw Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore take BOB with Abberann Be Brave Best Opposite. Fort St Clair Kennel Club (another great KC name) had back to back shows with Kilkenny’s Middleton of Irish Spirits taking BOB both times and a OH3. Klamath Dog Fanciers had a weekend of shows with Keadeen Blue Boy of Bluesette taking BOB twice and OH4 one day with Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas getting the big rosette the other two days. Finishing off with another Group placement, this time from Abberann Derbla at St Hubert KC.

All these fabulous Glen of Imaals in the ring would only have been seen if you were at the shows. Getting the breed out and about to people is just as important and at the London Pet Show Leia, Reilly, Dylan, Candy, Toby and their respective humans flew the flag with honour!
