National Terrier Critique

National Terrier Club  Champ. Show.                                6th. April, 2013.

Glen of Imaal Terriers.

I was looking forward to judging the Glens next year, 2014, which would have been 20 years since I first awarded Green Stars at Fermoy C.C.  in 1994. I was bought forward due to Judy Averis  being ill. She had pulled a lovely entry of 38. We wish her well & a fast recovery.                                                                                                                                                                          I enjoyed my day & looking back over the years there is now a more balanced look to the breed. Type & temperaments were first class & I was continually washed throughout the day, perhaps it’s the beard!                                                               Couple of points worth mentioning , muscle tone is important & the hard muscle I would like to feel on the loins & quarters was sadly lacking in a lot of the exhibits. Coats could be cleaner, my hands, at the end of judging, were black. It doesn’t take much to present a nice clean exhibit.

Remember where you put it!

Even though it’s only early November many people will have had the National Terrier (April 2013) arrive through the door. Judge for Glen of Imaal Terriers is Judy Averis and there is a full classification for the breed. As there is Christmas and (possibly) a lot of friends and relatives arriving do remember where you put it ready for when February’s closing  date arrives!
