Jeff Horswell (Judge)

Crufts at 9.00am

Blimey 9.00am in the ring is early. Everybody made it though and there were even spectators. Thank you for supporting Glen of Imaal Terriers even though it meant getting up at silly o’clock.

All-rounder judge Jeff Horswell restarted a Glen on the trail when he awarded Pajantick Razamataz his second CC and BOB. “Restarted” is the word as Quinn got his first CC at the ridiculously early age of 7 months. Shown lightly as a youngster he is now coming to maturity and has taken a Best In Show in France plus Best of Breed at Midland Counties last year. Reserve Dog CC went to Abberann Cosmic Cowboy, Nick & Ann are certainly devotees making the trek over from Ireland each year. Bitch CC was taken home to Shropshire by Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage and there was no mistaking the joy of the Reserve CC owner; floodlights will probably be ordered to hightlight Jeonty Letty Be Magic’s cards.

Once more Kirikee Celtic Warrior was Best Veteran (ready for the third year in 2020?) and Best Puppy was Borderglens Michaelmas. First showdog and winning that at Crufts, what an introduction.

Congratulations everybody!! Oh yes, the photographs below. We love you to share but, if possible, please give acknowledgement to either the blog or rbt-int

Midland Counties critique

GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

Thank you to the exhibitors & friends who gave their support on what was a very special day for me. Your encouragement & good wishes over the last year have been much appreciated. With regard to Fit for Function &Health Monitoring I had no concerns with any of the Glens present at the show. They all appeared sound & with only some minor differences were typical breed.

POST GRADUATE DOG: 1) Jeonty Yipee Kiaye. Nice outline, good head & eye, very fit & moved with purpose. Reserve Best Dog.

OPEN DOG: 1) Pajantick Razamataz. Fit & well muscled solid dog. Good bone & coat. Moved with purpose & had a typical Glen expression of confidence. Best of Breed. 2) Ch Golden Spurs. Sound to handle, fit & in good condition. 3) Romainville Fast ‘N’ Furious at Wickholm

VETERAN DOG: 1) Ch Johnny Be Good at Romainville. Now 12 years old & still showing well. Put down in good condition & well handled. Best Veteran.

JUNIOR BITCH: 1) Jeonty Letty Be Magic. Sound in structure with nice outline & good head. Still growing but moved well, has potential. Reserve Best Bitch.

OPEN BITCH: 1) Ch Wickholm Breaking Dawn. Sound in type with good bone. Coming up to 3 years and maturing well. Moved with good drive & well shown. Best Bitch. 2) Jeonty Jyn A New Hope. Good outline with nice expression. Giving away age to winner but a promising youngster. 3) Ch Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage

VETERAN BITCH: 1) Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm. A typical Glen, still with good shape & sound in movement. 2) jeonty Red Clover. Another typical Glen. Fit for her age & in good condition. Just lost out in movement.

Mike Brown OBE (Judge)

Normally a judge’s critique is on the blog and obviously, as that is the most important thing, nothing else on that day but today we’re making an exception. Mike, after a long period with touch and go moments, has had the sage nod from his surgeon and as he said to people at MC I’m here & I’m still standing! Alright he’s sitting for the photograph but lots of people wanted to say “welcome back”

Quieter weekend….

….but Glen of Imaal Terriers (and their people) were still out there.

Midland Counties saw Mike Brown in the centre of the ring, it was the thought of the show that kept him going through his long weeks of chemotherapy and he was so pleased to be able to be there after a “sage nod” from his consultant. Best of Breed was Pajantick Razamataz with Wickholm Breaking Dawn Best Bitch. Jeonty Yippe Kiaye and Jeonty Letty Be Magic taking the respective Reserves. Best Veteran, Johnny Be Good of Romainville, left spectators in no doubt how thrilled he was to be back in the ring again.

Seinajoki (Finland) was a BOB for Cairdiulacht Daibhi MacMiolmor and Gleann Una Noonan was Best Bitch & Best Veteran. Delaware (Ohio) KC saw the breeds only reported Group placement when Daulton’s Ciaran of Pine Meadow was OHG3. Sister Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow was Best Opposite. The 2nd Delaware Show saw Finnabair You Should Be So Lucky take top award. Daulton’s Eili from Emerald Isle was Best of Breed last weekend at both Wenatchee Kennel Club shows and got her first Group placement (Gp4)

Jeonty Letty Be Magic was at Northwich & District Canine Society and had an excellent day with AVNSC Junior, Reserve Best NSC and a 1st in the Junior Stakes.

Karen Forbes was invited to represent the Kennel Club at a meet and greet to show that with care dogs and horses can be in the same place during exercise so Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae went as part of the pack.

Monique reports for the “brains” department:- At an AKC Agility trial on Saturday, Ginny qualified in her first attempt ever in the Open Standard Preferred class and then qualified for the third time earning her title in the Open Jumpers Preferred class!

Congratulations everybody

Another week and another Best In Show

Wow, Glen of Imaal Terriers are doing well at the moment. At The French Terrier Club Show Pajantick Razamataz took Best of Breed and then Best In Show. Well done indeed. The European Winners was in Poland this year and Glens attended from Austria, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany & Poland. Cairdiulacht Aoife NicAlainna from Austria was Best Of Breed with Finn Glenn Glen Limited Edition from Poland was Best Opposite. Hammersmolles Star Hercules was the Best Junior and Spirit of Ireland Beautiful was the Best Veteran. In Finland Lahti puppy show saw Gleann Kooky Kanye take Best of Breed with BOS to Gleann Kinda Kim K. At Birmingham Gundog & Terrier Jeonty Letty Be Magic was BOB.

Over in America Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas was in Illinois for the Prarieland Classic and had a very nice trip. Best of Breed at Champaign Illinois KC, Mattoon KC & Sandemac with a Gp3 at Champaign. Opposite To him was Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta, Abberann Learning To Fly at Glendalough and Abberann Black Velvet Band by Galore. He was Best Opposite though at Illinois Capitol KC when Black Velvet Band took the BOB ribbon for the ladies

Ginny (and Monique for writing) regularly keeps the “brains” section running. “Ginny qualified with a 1st place in Open Jumpers Preferred at the AKC Agility trial at Paws n Effect in CT. Then she had a perfect run, again 1st place, in the Novice Standard Preferred class for her 3rd Q and her NAP title! Woohoo! It’s been a couple of good agility w/ends for team Ginny!”

Discover Dogs was in London and, as always, the enthusiasts who man these booths, whatever part of the world they are in deserve our thanks. Bella, Candy, Dylan, Leia & Mutley flew the flag proudly in front of hundreds of people. Many thanks to them and their people!

Great weekend folks.

Quite a weekend!!!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people certainly know how to exhibit!

Bath Championship Show caused a few eyebrows. BOB went to Romainville Rock On Ruby with Romainville Razzamatazz taking the Reserve so a nice double for Kathy. The eyebrows were caused in the dog judging when the Dog Ticket & Reserve went to two puppies over a Champion and a dog on 2CCs; it’s wonderful when judges cause the grapevine to hum and surely Lydia & Wendy won’t mind at all as their Pajantick Razamataz & Romainville Becks Blue at Zippor were the two boys with Green Cards. Thinking about it Quinn at 7 months is certainly one of the youngest, if not THE youngest, to take a CC.

In Finland Meomodo Fantabulous Amy was BB & BOB at Jarvenpaa All Breed Show with Marfidal Pleasant Surprise Best Dog. At Joensuu International Finnabair North American nebulon was BOB and Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Opposite. Placings were swopped for the Joensuu National with Bonnie B Good taking the BOB rosette & Nebulon Best Dog.

Abberann Torcan has been having a very successful few weeks with a Group 4 at Rock Island (IL) and at Oshkosh (Wisconsin). He then took 4 BOBs at Pontiac KC, Holland (Michigan) KC, Kalamazoo KC and Greater Muskegon. Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta was Best Opposite to him twice, Abberann Stars & Stripes Ruari once & Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore once. Too late for last week’s round up came the news that Keadeen Boy Blue for Bluesette had got Gp1 OH at Bell Vernon KA and this week BOB at Spokane KC with a Gp4. A Gp4 was also claimed by Daulton’s Rory who also matched the OH Gp1 at Warren County KC. Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham has been having one heck of a weekend in PA with five BOBs and four OH Group 4s and one OH group 3!!

Congratulations indeed!
