Just keep on showing.

Many Glen of Imaal Terrier people who were in Amsterdam last weekend were glad to get home for a rest. Others just kept on going. It was the Baltic Weekend in Estonia. Friday was the Harjuma Group Show. Best of Breed was Pearytail Candy McCoy who was shortlisted in the Group. Pearytail Donald Dump was Best Opposite and Pearytail took BIS 2 (Breeders). Saturday was the Baltic Winners with (for Estonia) a big entry of 15. BOB to Gleann Dynamite Mike and Gleann Gildea with Nelli Best Bitch. Sunday was the Terrier Specialty with the Pearytail pair taking the top awards again. Kouvola (Finland) saw Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard get the nod for Best of Breed with Astoreen Best Opposite.

Welsh Kennel Club and it was Abberann Cosmic Cowboy for Best of Breed with Romainville Whistle Dixie (making her up) Best Bitch. The two Reserves were Abberann Conan and Romainville Maggie May, so a double double. Jeonty Dreams A Dream of Karensbrae kept the breed flag ably flying with a 1st in the Junior Stakes. The Irish Circuit has begun with the All Terrier and Clonmel. Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage was Best of Breed at both.

In Canada Abberann Derbla has been keeping the breed flag flying with Gp3 at both Kilbride & District & St Catharines & District and Gp2 & 4 at Grey-Bruce Kennel Club (another great name). In America Nisqually KC in Washington State saw Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right take Best of Breed both days plus Gp3. Keadeen’s Boy Blue for Bluesette was Best Opposite both days and he triumphed in the Owner Handler Groups with an OH3 and OH4. Glendalough Daithi of Abberann was Best of Breed at the Upper Potomac Valley KC and Laurel Highlands Kennel Association. At Potomac Abberann Blue Sky of Glendalough took Puppy Group 1. South Adirondach Dog Club had Kilkenny’s Best of My Love take home the BOB award.

Congratulations all.

Keeping up

Glen of Imaal Terrier people keep on going right throughout the summer…that may or may not arrive in the UK.

Haapavesi Group Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard took Best of Breed and Group 4-not a usual occurrence in Europe. Best Opposite Sex was Pearytail Cruella de Gleann which earned her her Finnish Championship. Pearytail Candy McCoy added  Lithuanian Champion to her name when she was BOB there. Valkeakoski All Breed Show saw Meomodo Boho’s Trick or Treat take BOB, and earn his first CAC from his first time in the Junior class. Over in Ireland Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanne took Best of Breed at Dun Laoghaire.

In America at Beaver County KC Tipperary American Girl was Best of Breed and at Columbian County KC Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was Best of Breed. Fabulous news indeed of Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas who is now in the top 30 IN THE COUNTRY of the AKC Owner Handler Series. News That there now is a Canadian Champion Glen and that honour of the first made up goes to Abberann Phelan.

The “brains” department is well represented by Ginny who earned her RATO (Open Barn Hunt) title and was so fast she came in first.

Finally a reminder of the Dutch Glen Games on the 16th & 17th September. If anybody fancies a weekend away you’ll be very, very welcome!

Group placements galore & 30 for supper!

Vermont seems to like Glen of Imaal Terriers. A Group 2 for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend whilst Best Opposite Kilkenny’s Best of My Love took OHG1. Friday friend of a Friend was again BOB with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney BOS. The star of the day was Finnabair DD Shut Up & Kiss Me who was BP, BPG1 and BPIS. Saturday was Groups again, Friend of a Friend Gp3 and Glen Rooney OHG4. Friend of a Friend again Gp3 on Sunday & once more Rooney Best Bitch. That show was also the scene of triumph for the breed in the 4-6 month puppy with Abberann Whiskey You’re the Devil taking baby Group 1.  In Ohio Tipperary American Girl, besides BOB was awarded OHG1 & OHG2 at two show there. Jeff Dairiki reports that last weekend Ciaran (Keadeen Blue Boy of Bluesette) finished his weekend with 2xBOB, 2xBOS, 4xOHBOB & 1OHG4.

At Hyvinkaa All Breed Show Pearytail Candy McCoy led the Glens with Highlander Dream Casper Best Dog. It was another “lady” who led the way at Sligo when Abberann Reach For The Stars Ruari was BOB over Abberann Conan. At the July Klub Sieger exhibition Best of Breed and Best Veteran was Billy Tow vom Au Deich and  Fear Fiuntair Candy Keva Best Opposite

And finally….how did THE day go at Swineshead? Rather well actually. It was a bit dull but nothing like the rain forecast. The ultimate sin was committed as the cake stall ran out. All the raffle prizes went and 30, yes 30, folk were along the tables for supper. So it was alright then.

Not quite so busy this weekend

Not so busy in the Glen of Imaal Terrier world though means that owners and dogs are still out and about and spreading the Glen Gospel though.

At Parnu International Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard took BOB both days and Pearytail Candy McCoy was Best of Breed at Mikkeli allbreed show. Karjaa All Breed saw Rosears Master of The House take the big rosette with Meomodo Fantabulous Amy Best Opposite and finishing her Finnish Championship.

A four show run for Abberann Torcan saw him take BOB at all of them (Kenilworth KC of Connecticut, Holyoke, Farmington Valley KC and Navgatuck KC with Abberann Derbla Best Bitch three times and Kilkenny Granite Rooney once. Keadeen Second Star to the Right took BOB at Puyallup and was shortlisted in the Group but no placement.

Ginny (as Monique writes) was showing her brains “Ginny just received her AKC Advanced Trick Dog title! AKC recognized her Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Trick Dog titles through the ‘Do More With Your Dog’ organization.”

Congratulations everybody!

Twice IN ONE WEEK!!!!!

Even the  most ardent Glen of Imaal Terrier fan must admit that Glens aren’t exactly the usual animal chosen by Best In Show judges. Not that many of us manage to get through the Group, never mind getting the nod for the Ultimate Rosette, but this week TWO Glens have flown the breed flag loud and proud.

In France at a Terrier Specialty Pajantick Razzamatazz  was the first one to get the pointed finger to the Top Spot. Over in America a cluster in Oklahoma saw an unbelievable 4 Group 1sts, 1 RBIS and 1 BIS for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. Gentlemen we salute you!! Tipperary American Girl gave a shout for the ladies with a Group 3 at Bushy Run Kennel Club.

At Windsor Boudivella Osca was BOB with Boudivella Tegan Best Bitch and Best Puppy. Bray was a nod for the ever young Abberann Conan with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite. Over in Scandinavia Tuusula All Breed was a success for Jeonty Just a Dream Ansa and her Finnish Championship. It was the same at Riihimaki when Pearytail Candy McCoy’s BOB also gave her a Finnish Champion, Rosears Master of the House was Best Dog. At the Midnight Show in Gallivare (Sweden) BOB was Gleann Eager Edgar with Gleann Gilda with Nelli Best Bitch.

Gabriella Isabella writes “Hurray! It was the Glen- weekend at our terrierclubshow in Wittau-Großenzersdorf. Duana was second best an on sunday best baby. Mum Aoife was second and third best longlegged terrier. And what a surprise Bairre, Aoife and Duana were selected as best breeding group. We were so happy, to see our breeding acivities honored. Thank you to all that made our success possible” and Kate Flack brings us all up to date on her BIG dog showing trip “Left home June 12 & of the 14 possible show days we showed 10. Em (Keadean Sir Emmet Mingus Glas) worked hard – but our daily routine and focus paid off: 1-Terrier Group 1 (Judge Robert Hutton); 3 Terrier Group 4s (Judges Del Richards, Kenneth Berg, Carolyn Graham); 1 NOHS BIS (Judge Evalyn Gregory); 2 NOHS RBIS (Judges Robert Hutton, Wendy Maisey); 5 NOHS Terrier Gr1; 2 NOHS Terrier Gr2; 2 NOHS Terrier Gr3; and, 2 NOHS Terrier Gr4.”

Everybody, you are such a credit to us all!!!

…and we’re back!

Let’s be honest here the intention wasn’t to be back until next Monday but boy oh boy you have kept us in your email box! It’s flattering to know that Glen of Imaal Terrier people think to include the blog in their thoughts. This year there have even been emails saying they’ll catch us up with the news when we “get back” so (if you haven’t forgotten what you wanted to tell us) we’re open for business again.

The UK may have been basically in hibernation show wise but not Finland and the USA. They have been out with great enthusiasm and they love to share-as we love to hear about-and there have been multiple referrals from the same show in some cases which does lead to a bit of eye crossing some times. If you are listed with the wrong place or result do let us know.

Starting in mid January in Wisconsin with two Group 4 placements for Kilkenny’s Across the Universe at Setanta. Staying in that part of the world next for a tremendous blast from the past….and what a blast. Abberann Conan (yes, Homer) is currently in the States showing to the US dog show fraternity that, in Glens at least, the breed gets better as it gets older. He took Terrier Veteran Group 1 at the first day of a cluster in Michigan. His granddaughter Across The Universe was BOB on all three days, picking up another couple of Group placements and son Torcan was BOBOH Gp4. That isn’t a brain fade as Theresa had him, not Carlos. Also Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow picked up OHG3 as well. Great publicity for Glens.

Over on the West Coast it was the Rose City Classic in Oregon with a new Champion crowned. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette took BOB for three days with Keadean’s Second Star to the Right BOS to him. She did the same on Friday but this time it was Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas taking Best of Breed and on Sunday she bowed the paw to Kilkenny’s Love and Happiness and that made him into an AKC Champion. The breed was also out in Florida and Pennsylvania with Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock BOB at Greater Gainsville Dog Fanciers and at Erie Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham was BOB & OHG4. Finishing the American section with two, yes two, Best In Shows down in New Mexico for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. What a result on the run in to Westminster!!!

The Finns put us all to shame with their enthusiasm so here goes:-At Kajaani International Show Best of Breed was Highlanders Dream Casper. He did the same again at the Tallinn Winter Cup with Pearytail Black Cat Best Bitch and he was Best Opposite to Pearytail Candy McCoy at Turku International. Tallinn Terrier Speciality saw Rosears Kate The Duchess get the nod. Lahti Puppy Show saw Rosears Master of the House given the nod with Rosears Maid Marion Best Opposite.

Manchester Championship Show saw a Best of Breed for Golden Spur and he did the same at West Midlands Terrier.

So very well done to everybody!!

Slight indulgence by us. The photo of Across The Universe is not the one sent by the owner, it was sent by somebody else so hope they don’t mind. Is it not the best picture ever of a Glen’s attitude? You may wave a finger at me in the nicest way but I’m taking no notice….okay I may be out the corner of my eye. There had to be two of Homer to show how well he is looking.

A “Winners” session!

The rest of the Northern Hemisphere may be thinking WINTER but dog people, and particularly Glen of Imaal Terrier folk, are certainly out and about.

The Danish Winners was a BOB for Pearytail Artless Tess with McCormac Setna Sithbacc Best Dog. Another Pearytail day at the Norwegian Winners with P Bonnie B Goode getting the nod over Marfidal Rohjaton Pohmu. The Baltic Winners saw Gleann Dynamite Mike taking Best of Breed with Pearytail Bonnie B Goode Best Opposite. Jyvaskyla International finished a great collection for the Pearytail kennel with P Candy McCoy taking BOB. A back to back weekend in Germany had McJake’s Angel’s Son Djuke taking Best of Breed both days with McJakes’s Aivy Best Bitch one day and Mr Dear Fellow Brunhilde de CoCo the other. Back to back ICK shows saw Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore take BOB with Abberann Phelan Best Dog, the results flipped around for day 2. Abberann Conan did Glens incredible proud by being awarded Reserve Best Veteran In Show

The Secretary of the Dutch Glen Club sends the following: Dogshow Bleiswijk brought two Dutch Champions. BOB was My Dear Fellow Billy the Kid McJakes what gave him enough points for the Dutch Championship.BOS was Madra Áthas Aoife Aideen an tSolais who also became Dutch Champion. Well done both!

The States have had, amongst other things, the big cluster in Philadelphia. At Penn Treaty KC Ber-D-Mar Nate the Great at Wicklow was Best of Breed with Tipperary Violet Dowager Countess Best Bitch. Violet was again Best Bitch at Greater Philidelphia Dog Fanciers Association with Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea taking Best of Breed. Kennel Club of Philidelphia was a success again for Nate the Great with Daulton’s Tupelo Honey of Galore Best Opposite. The 4th Show of the cluster saw Tupelo Honey Best Opposite again with Sweet William O’Shea Best of Breed this time.

Down in Florida at Seminole Dog Fanciers and Greater Ocala Dog Club it was an incredible couple of days for Gleann Cotton Cody taking Group 2 and 3 respectively. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at castle rock was Best Bitch both days. Another Group Placement up at Whidbey Island Kennel Club with a Group 2 for Keadeen’s Second Star To The Right whilst at Coos KC Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette was BOB and also BOBOH Group 2. Umpqua KC was another triumph for Blue Boy and he again was placed second in the Owner Handler Group. Central Ohio KC was a Best of Breed for Kilkenny’s Across the Universe for Setanta with Daulton’s Rory BOS/BOBOH and Owner Handler Group 4

The “Brains Department” was also working well with a Nosework 2 award for Sullivan Lopez and two sets of news news from Monique that Oliver qualified and earned a third place metallic ribbon in the Excellent Distance nosework class on Saturday at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Raymond, New Hampshire and he also participated in a Performance Scent Dogs trial  and qualified in the Excellent Distance class for the 10th time.  He came in 2nd place (metallic division) and earned a Bronze Metallic Award for his cumulative efforts.

Congratulations indeed to everybody. You all do us proud!!!

We’re still out there!

At Leeds Championship Show Boudivella Oscar got his first CC (with Best of Breed) with Young May Moon taking the bitch ticket. Romainville Becks Blue for Zippor & Roaminville Razzamatazz taking the two Reserves. At the Danish Terrier Club Show McCormac Setna Sithbacc was Best of Breed whilst in Germany Spirit of Ireland Angel was taking Best veteran & Best of Breed. In Lithuania Pearytail Candy McCoy took the top award at one show and also obtained the last Lithuanian Junior CAC so became a Lithuanian, Estonian, Latvian and Baltic Junior Champion at another where Pearytail Black Cat was BOB. The Pearytails had a good weekend because at the same time Pearytail Cherry Bomb was Best of Breed in Helsinki.

Over in America a cluster of shows at Portand (Oregon) saw two Best of Breeds for Keadeen Blue Boy of Bluesette and one for Keadeen Sir Emmet Mingus Glas.

Pride of place has to be given though to the fabulous Oliver as Monique writes the following:- “Even though it was 95 degrees at the Performance Scent Dog trial yesterday in Littleton, MA, Oliver qualified in 2 classes and earned 1st place ribbons: Excellent Buildings & Excellent Distance (metallic level)! The judges were impressed with his strong work ethic. That’s my boy!

I was especially excited about him earning his Excellent Building leg. The 2 contiguous rooms were overflowing with furniture and storage material, so it was difficult. After locating 2 hides and with 30 seconds left to go, Oliver sort of alerted near the door and a tall plastic container unit. Not convinced it was an alert on a scented hide, I moved him around the room while he barked at me. With a few seconds left, I brought him back to the area of interest and he sniffed around but didn’t give me a convincing alert, so I called finish thinking we had blown it. Nope. I was correct in not calling it and the judge told me afterwards that she thought he was simply waiting to leave b/c he had finished searching. Whew.”

Beauty and brains, Glen of Imaal Terriers have them both!

Let’s celebrate….

….Glen of Imaal Terriers doing their thing with their people.

A double show weekend in Ireland with Abberann Phelan having to bow the paw to the ladies at both Munster & Cork. Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore was BOB at the former and Abberann Reach For The Stars Ryanna at the latter. At Southern Counties Championship Show Pajantick Star trooper was BOB with Pajantick Rockahula Best Bitch.

The weekend of the Estonian Winners saw Glenrosedale Buagh Ri Arthur Milo and Pearytail Artful Tess both getting the Estonian 2016 title with Milo the nod for BOB. At Tallinn Group Show BOB went to Pearytail Candy McCoy and over the weekend McJakes Angel-Lina become an Estonian Junior Champion. Back in Finland Kuhmo Group Show saw Gleann Easter Eamonn take BOB.

Over in the States Keadeen Blue Boy for Bluesette was 4th in the Group at Yokima Valley KC and Daulton’s Rory also notched up a placement at Toledo KC with a G2 in OH and a G4 in the Terrier group. Ladies Kennel Club (Inc) had Kilkenny Granite Great Gatsby get the nod for BOB whilst at Gateway Terrier Show Abberann Stars and Stripes Ruari became a Champion.

Monique Anthony writes “Oliver qualified and earned first place in the Excellent Speed class yesterday at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in Raymond, NH! The funniest part of the day was when he attacked some Barn Hunt tubes just outside one of the search areas and ran down the clock. Birch, anise or clove hides cannot compete with BH tubes, even if empty”

Applause to you all!!

It’s Crufts week but first let’s catch up

42 Glen of Imaal Terriers may be exhibiting at Crufts at the end of the week but we need to catch up with what has been going on recently. In the USA Finnabair Ardmore Ned took two Group 2s at Greater Fort Myers Dog Club, Abberann Torcan was also a double group placer with a Gp2 & Gp4 in St Louis (guessing the Belle City Winter Classic) and Jeonty Golden Memo was BOB (twice) at Silver Bay Kennel Club. Her sister Jeonty Minnie MeMe was Best Puppy AVNSC and then Group 3 at Newark. Finland saw Pearytail Candy McCoy go BOB at her last Puppy Show and Glenrosedale Ardal Ridire Ain Ri became a Baltic & Lithuanian Champion.

Pride of announcement though has to go to Winston & Griff. Kelli writes that “Winston had a great time with Barn Hunt this weekend earning a first and second place with 2 qualifying legs plus High in class & Griffin spent the weekend chasing the plastic bag for the coursing ability test and he earned 6 qualifying legs towards his coursing ability advanced”. Great action shots by Mark Brown
