Quite a bit to catch up on!

Glen of Imaal Terriers quite often position in the Group in America but in Europe it is quite rare so the lead in today just must go to Jeonty Junior Fire & Ice who was BOB at Lingen, Germany and then went on to Group 3! Best Bitch at the show was My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel. In Prague My dear Fellow Bealtaine de Coco took Best of Breed with My dear Fellow Cordula the Angel Best Opposite. At another show in the Czech Republic My dear Fellow Clärchen the Angel  was Best of Breed. In Sweden (Vasteras) Marfidal Pleasant Surprise was Best of Breed and Marfidal Up To Your Ears-great name- was taking a short holiday in Serbia & Estonia and was rewarded with BOB at each. Tampere Nordic Show was a triumph for Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard with BOS being awarded to Pearytail Candy McCoy. He did it again on the Sunday Show with Gleann Una Noonan being awarded Best Bitch. At WELKS Romainville Billy Wizz was Best of Breed with Sigrid Helga at Pant Cottage Best Bitch, Jeonty Glynis Making Magic for Zippor was Best Puppy

In America Tipperary American Girl was BOB and OHG1 at Mountaineer Kennel Club, at Crawford County KC Glens again featured in the Owner Handler Group with Daulton’s Sailor John of Roseglen being pulled in number four and over in California Finnabair Caatskill Bring It On at Broc Rua was OHG3 twice. Bucks County KC saw Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea get the nod for BOB whilst at Fort St Clair KC it was Kilkenny’s Middleton Irish Spirit.

Brains were busy as well as beauty. Eili earned her Novice Barn Hunt RATN & Jeff Dairiki’s news is that Ciarán and Quinn each earned their Barn Hunt RATCHX4 titles and there is news of “Pepper”. She was running FastCat at Brevard KC and earned her BCAT title. The Brains round up is always done with call names but registered names are liked for the first mention so Pepper….who are you?

Certainly a different Crufts…..

….well it was for Glen of Imaal Terrier exhibitors and admirers. 2nd in ring 6 so you turn up there and, okay not the biggest entry, where is everybody and where’s my bench, where’s my breeder, where’s my family? Somebody, somewhere had suffered from a rush of blood to the head when drawing up the benching plan and Glens were one side of ring 6 and one side of ring 5; so far apart we couldn’t even see each other! Being as stoic as our breed there was a lot of sighing and a lot of walking to each other (Welsh & Airedales were between us) but then there was a “sod it, this is rubbish” and the organiser’s office was visited for a non-official, official complaint. Vanessa McAlpine said it most certainly shouldn’t have happened and she’d find out why and get back. What she finds out will be reported on here.

Nobody had travelled from abroad this year but the Quarrie’s & Lin Smith, being from the Isle of Man & Guernsey, certainly got their travelling miles. There were folk new to the breed and people returning once more to Glens. It was great to see everybody and everything certainly seemed to go well. Admittedly the Bring & Share had a bit of a problem with the ridiculous benching arrangements as it isn’t a good idea to leave your dogs but a lot of food was “brunged” and it was shared via platefuls being taken away.

Dog CC & Best of Breed was awarded to Boudivella Oscar with the Reserve CC going to his uncle, Romainville Billy Wizz. Bitch CC went to Jeonty Minnie MeMe and the Reserve went to the Isle of Man with Rhumsaamist Glen Maye at Quaywest. Best Puppy travelled to the north of Scotland with Jeonty Dreams A Dream of Karensbrae (daughter of the bitch ticket winner) and Best Veteran went to the positively infantile-in Glen veteran terms-Kirikee Celtic Warrior.

Various Glen people around the world have asked, as “we’re so good”, if there is any chance of a full set of photographs? Flattery like that and anything can be done. Feel free to share them collectively or individually but a credit to either RBT (International) or the EFG blog would be appreciated.

As usual they’ll be more about Glens at Crufts tomorrow

It’s a double, double weekend

Not so many things to report for Glen of Imaal Terrier triumphs this weekend but it was a few days to remember for Jo Lynn as her Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham was BOB at Columbia Terrier and that was repeated at Old Dominion KC where she then went on to take Group 2. Best Opposite to her were, respectively, the two brothers of Cormac McCarthy and Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea. Theresa Nesbitt writes “After a nice group 3 and 4 last weekend in Racine Oscar takes Best of Opposite this weekend in Columbia to his granddaughter Abberann Stars & Stripes Ruari (9 months old)  She took Best of Breed in a top line up of Glens in competitive Columbus OH for a 5 point major. Keeping in all in the family daughter Scully took home the select ribbon”

At West of England Ladies Kennel Society it was also a double for Kathy George with Billy Wizz taking BOB and Razzamatazz Best Bitch.

Nice special on offer at Columbia Terrier

Busy weekend for beauty AND brains!

Busy weekend for Glen of Imaal Terrier people with two shows at the same venue on the same day, something well known in the States, but not in the UK. The EFG Open Show was held in the morning and Birmingham Gundog & Terrier in the afternoon with respective entries of just over and just under 30-the Glens giving the biggest entry in the Terrier Group at G&T. EFG Judge Roger Cruden certainly found as type he liked with Best In Show going to Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Best Dog (RBIS) to her brother Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty. Their dam Brockland Belle Bregorrey was Best Veteran overall and her brother Brockland Blackadder at Malsville was Veteran Dog Winner. Best Puppy went to Romainville Razzamatazz with her brother, Roaminville Becks Blue for Zippor (nice to see that affix back in the Glen ring) Puppy Dog. The well admired clock went home with Cresta Garner, the ring number draw was won by Jean Rogers and the catalogue prize went to Gee Noone. At Gundog & Terrier Tony Hadley awarded BOB to Romainville Billy Wizz, BOS to Jeonty Maybee Daysee and Best Puppy to Jeonty Mini MeMe who made the cut in the Terrier Group.

At Tallinn Winners2016 BOB was Gleann Cotton Cody with BOS going to Gleann Una Noonan whilst at Vassa International Ungus MacGuire kept the Gleann flag flying with Best of Breed with Pearytail Candy McCoy Best Bitch.

Griffin (Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystoke) continued to show his abilities in the coursing field with getting his 10th & 11th coursing legs and so his Coursing Ability Advanced Title. Monique Oliver writes “What an amazing weekend! Oliver participated in 2 Performance Scent Dogs trials, Saturday in eastern PA and Sunday in MA. He qualified in 5 classes, coming in first in Excellent Exteriors both days, second in Excellent Distance & Excellent Buildings, and third in Advanced Speed earning a title in that class. The big news is my Oliver and another dog became the first dogs to ever earn the overall Advanced level PSD title!!!”

Huge congratulations to everybody

BILL BROWNE-COLE

How international!

Crufts 2016 was the most international yet for Glen of Imaal Terriers and this photograph really shows it. An Irish bred bitch, resident in Finland, showing at Crufts with an American handler and taking a first prize!

First in the ring meant a very early start but there we all were bright and early, the only absentee being Scott Richards due to a bereavement in the family-our condolences, and prompt at 9 in we went. Judge Bill Brown-Cole was as decisive as always so by 11.00am the cake was being placed ready for the EFG 20th but more of that tomorrow because today is all about the exhibiting Glens.

The currently all conquering Billy Wizz took the Dog CC and Best of Breed with the Bitch ticket going to Finland with Tiina Assinen in the shape of Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann. The two Reserves meant one really incredible day for Kathy George as Romainville Becks Blue and Romainville Rock On Ruby gave her kennel three out of four of the top awards!

Red first prize cards were proudly born home by the owners of Brockland Brayhead Lad, Romainville Becks Blue, Amhard Justin Thyme, Gleann Cotton Cody, Romainville Billy Wizz, Golden Spurs, Jeonty Maybe Daysee, Roaminville Razzamatazz, Wickholm Gone in Sixty Seconds, Romainville Rock On Ruby and Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann.

Congratulations to all and they’ll be more Crufts news and photographs tomorrow

Association Championship Show

The Glen of Imaal Terrier Association Championship Show is a chance for the many companion owners to bring their dogs to meet “the family” and possibly have a go in the ring and this year was no exception. Always nice to meet and talk to Glen enthusiasts that aren’t often seen. Judge Pat Clayton was awarding her first set of Challenge certificates in the breed and she finished off the Top Glen of the Year, Ch Romainville Billy Wizz, in fine style with the dog ticket and Best In Show. Reserve Best In Show, Best Veteran and Reserve CC was awarded to Ch Beatrix’s Boy with Windarra from Donvaleset who was not looking his ten years. Best Opposite Sex and the Bitch CC also went to a Veteran, 7 year old Ch Donvaleset Brier. The Reserve Bitch CC, Ch Jeonty MeMe Fern, headed a family affair as she was the dam of both the Best Puppy in Show, Jeonty Diamond Ring, and the Best Puppy Bitch Jeonty Minie MeMe.

Congratulations to everybody and well done to the catering team for a fabulous chocolate cake! Secretary Ann Hardy wasn’t at the show as she broke her leg the previous Sunday. It’ll be a long road back for her but everybody sends their best wishes for recovery
