BILL BROWNE-COLE

How international!

Crufts 2016 was the most international yet for Glen of Imaal Terriers and this photograph really shows it. An Irish bred bitch, resident in Finland, showing at Crufts with an American handler and taking a first prize!

First in the ring meant a very early start but there we all were bright and early, the only absentee being Scott Richards due to a bereavement in the family-our condolences, and prompt at 9 in we went. Judge Bill Brown-Cole was as decisive as always so by 11.00am the cake was being placed ready for the EFG 20th but more of that tomorrow because today is all about the exhibiting Glens.

The currently all conquering Billy Wizz took the Dog CC and Best of Breed with the Bitch ticket going to Finland with Tiina Assinen in the shape of Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann. The two Reserves meant one really incredible day for Kathy George as Romainville Becks Blue and Romainville Rock On Ruby gave her kennel three out of four of the top awards!

Red first prize cards were proudly born home by the owners of Brockland Brayhead Lad, Romainville Becks Blue, Amhard Justin Thyme, Gleann Cotton Cody, Romainville Billy Wizz, Golden Spurs, Jeonty Maybe Daysee, Roaminville Razzamatazz, Wickholm Gone in Sixty Seconds, Romainville Rock On Ruby and Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann.

Congratulations to all and they’ll be more Crufts news and photographs tomorrow

Keeping on going….

The biggie of the results to catch up with has to be Westminster (hopefully the 180 odd who looked on here last Tuesday/Wednesday weren’t too disappointed we were still on Winter break). GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned made it an incredible three BOBs on the trot so it just has to be one word, besides congratulations, WOW. Best Opposite Sex was his daughter CH Tipperary That Girl. Two Selects were awarded and they were the brother & sister CH Cormac McCarthy & CH Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife with sire GCH Rainbow Springs Wicklow Warrior of Ber-D-Mar taking the Award of Merit so judge Ron Menaker could certainly see families and more than some may realise. Ned and the dam of the Ber-D-Mar siblings are brother & sister. Ned’s grandsire was the brother of Wicklow Warrior’s grandsire (English bred by a German dog) so besides family we are talking international! Thanks to Jane Fenton for the photographs

Back in January Kathleen O’Donnell (Australia) wrote “Tara (Taufield Queen Of Tara) 6mths first show in Minor got her bitch challenge and BOB then went on to win Minor of group she was so good and stood so well for me she performed well in General Specials (Best in Show) I was so proud of my girl today”. Also in January GCH Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney took BOB/BOBOH and Group 4 at Merrimack Valley KC. The group of shows that make up the Northern Ohio Winter Classic saw two Best of Breeds for Daulton’s Rory & one for Kilkenny’s Granite Aine of Claddagh. At Erie Ch Daulton’s Dark Lily of Caradoc was BOB and then got the nod for Group 3. Two more Group placings for GCH Abberann Torcan, a Gp2 in Minnesota and a Group 4 at Osh Kosh.

The Finns don’t notice Winter so are out and about as usual! A Group 1 for Gleann Dear Dandelion and a Group 1 and BIS4 for Pearytail Cruella de Gleann at Kajaani Puppy Show. At Turkuu International Gleann Cotton Candy was BOB with Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann BOS and obtaining her Finnish Championship. She followed this up with BOB at Parkano Group Show and then took a fabulous Reserve Best In Show. Pearytail Candy McCoy was BOB at Lahti Puppy Show and then went on to Group 3.

In Germany at Chemnitz Fire & Ice Moonraker was twice BOB and at Sporting Terrier of Yorkshire Jeonty Diamond Ring was Best of Breed. In Denmark Gleann Willy the Whale became a Danish Champion. A new Norwegian Champion came into being in MacNallys Glenna-Roisin and at Gent BOB was awarded to Bregorrey Wannabe Victory By Jeonty

The mighty Oliver doesn’t care that it’s Winter as he earned an “Excellent Containers” title at the  Performance Scent Dogs trial in New Hampshire early February.

A great few weeks everybody-very, very well done.

Very busy weekend!

When it’s been a busy weekend for Glen of Imaal Terrier people it always difficult to know where to start; the show, the country, the awards and this pass few days has been a biggie. The coin has come down on awards so first up is Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney with 2 Best of Breeds, 2 Owner Handler Group 2s and a group 4 at Souhegan Kennel Club in New Hampshire. Also in America it was 3 BOBs for Coleraine’s Here Comes The Sun at Westchester, Somerset Hills and Tuxedo Park.

At the European Dog Show in Norway the top award went to Gleann Una Noonan with Gleann Bigwig Best Dog. At the Terrier Speciality held with the show Rosears Humpty Dumpty was BOB. Well done all!!

Beauty and Brains

We’re used to hearing about Glen of Imaal Terrier siblings taking awards at the same show or in the same area but what about different countries? At Welsh Kennel Club Best of Breed was Bregorrey Madam Defiance with the dog ticket (and Best Puppy) going to Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty whilst over at the Baltic Winners and the Baltic Terrier Show in Estonia brother Gleann Dynamite Mike was BOB both days. Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann took Best Bitch to him on both days. It was a double weekend also for Marfidal Emousonia who took home the big rosette at both Kouvola and Heinola. Marfidal Spsrkele of Meomodo was Best Bitch to him at Kouvola.

At the Arctic Circle Dog Show (how about that for a name) MacNallys Gracie was Best of Breed and at Tralee, the final show of the Irish Circuit, Abberann Phelan was BOB, and a very nice Group 3, with Ballyclare May Best Opposite.

A breed first is proudly announced by Anne-Marie Pember with her Kera taking the Barn Hunt Master title and Mary Householder is equally proud to tell everybody that Hannah has obtained her coursing ability title.

Well done everybody.

And The Sun Was Shining!

People & glens from all over the country converged on Swinehead for the EFG funday on Saturday – some of them won’t be home yet and more pictures will be up as they come in.

The weather gods smiled and ten Glens turned up in the special Glen class.

Plans were laid for a special event to commemorate the twentieth aniversay of the EFG in 2016IMG_2352 IMG_2347

Glen of Imaal Terrier folk; you have to love them for their dedication. At the International Show at Tvaaker (Sweden) McCormac Setna Sithbacc was BOB with Bilbo’s Roisin Best Opposite and now a Swedish Champion. In Finland Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann led the way with Pearytail Batman at Gleann Best Dog. Ireland and Irish Ladies All Breed Show had Ch Abberann Phelan get the nod for BOB with his sister Dervla Best Bitch.

Over in America a busy weekend: At Woodstock Dog Club BOB was awarded to GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green with Kilkenny’s Granite Great Gatsby Best Opposite. Astabula and Grand River saw a double for GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton and also two Owner Handler Group placements. Green Mountain was a nod to the big ribbon for Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney and Brookhaven KC had GCH Rainbow Spring’s Wicklow Warrior of Ber-D-Mar take BOB and Group 2 with Ch Ber-D-Mar My Dream of You Aoife taking Best Bitch. At the second Brookhaven Show Aoife was again BOS to Cormac McCarthy’s BOB.

Well done everybody!!!

So impressed with it all!!!!

Better than Christmas shopping…

Why do Glen of Imaal Terrier people need to Christmas shop when there is a dog event! Finland saw a double International event with the Helsinki & Finnish Winners on following days. At the Helsinki Winners BOB went to Gleann Bigwig with BOS to Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann. Finnish Winners saw the veteran Gleann Rabarber Drom took the Big Ribbon with Bigwig making a good weekend with the BOS. Junior Winner at the Finnish Winner show was Finnabair North American Nebulon with the JW title at Helsinki going to Cutie Pie.

Oaks Pennsylvania had Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea as Best of Breed and Ber-D-Mar Charm One of Wicklow got the nod to take Best Opposite. GCH Finnabair Song O’My Heart showed her brains as well as beauty by adding a Junior Earthdog title to her name. At the Combined Canine Club Show in Ireland Blaithin Ballyclare was BP & BOB.

Great going everybody!!

It just gets better and better

Barn Hunting, walking, exhibiting, something very new and a BEST IN SHOW; Glen of Imaal Terriers just keep on getting better!! The first mention just has to go to GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned with number 15 Group 1 down in Arkansas and this time BEST IN SHOW. No apologies for using the very nice tribute breeder Mary gave “Today Ned, GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, became only the second Glen in the US to get an All Breed Best In Show. Ned is sired by Spike – Malsville Soldier Blue. Royalty’s Star Over Coleraine (India) was the first Glen to have that honor. BOTH dogs share a grand sire – Jeonty Little Soldier, making this a family affair. Thank you to Jean Rogers for producing Soldier, and to Liz and Harold Gay for allowing Spike to emigrate to the US. Well done!” The American South really loves the breed as GlenTyrs Lady Isabella took Gp1 in Augusta, Georgia. Over in Ohio it was another BOB for GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green. Brno saw the European plus an International Show and Fin Glenn Glen Limited Edition was Best of Breed with Gleann Aine of Antrim Best Opposite. The International Show saw Cairdiulacht Aoife NicAlainna take the top award. In Finland Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann was BOB at Seinajoki with BOS going to Gleann Ungus MacGuire. Midland Counties saw Dovaleset Rebus take Best of Breed with Donvaleset Domino Best Bitch. At the first ever Barn Hunt In New York State Niamh showed everybody just how good Glens are with first place & high score (fastest time) in Open. The first Glen walk in Central park caused a lot of interest and was a great advertisement for the joys of owning one.To finish off such an incredible round up Finnian shows the adaptability of the breed with his acceptance into a new programme Los Angeles International airport has started. They are going to have dogs in the airport terminal to help reduce stress levels of passengers and the boy will be there for a stroke and a hug! What a weekend and what a list of accomplishments!!!!!!!!
