She was running FastCat at Brevard KC and earned her BCAT title. The Brains round up is always done with call names but registered names are liked for the first mention so Pepper….who are you?

A bit quieter this weekend

The weekend before December and for many it’s the start of Christmas Shopping but some Glen of Imaal Terrier people are still out and about. It was the inaugural Southern Glen Walk and Lynne Fraser sends the following.”Delighted to say that we had 10 Glens and their people who joined us for a walk on the Racecourse. It was lovely to meet in person so many people I have met through Glens on facebook and for them to meet each other, I feel that strong friendships have been formed. Everyone was very kind and we have decided that next time we would like to find a village hall in the area and have a ‘Glen gathering’ for those who would like to come.  I think that another Glen walk will definitely be in order! Thank you to everyone who came and to all the Glens for being well behaved!

Great weekend indeed everybody!!

Let’s hear it for everybody

Glen of Imaal Terrier folk certainly believe in getting the breed out there. A weekend in Kentucky for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend results in a full set of Group placements, one through to four. Tipperary American Girl took a couple of days in Ohio and took home 2x Group 4 and one OHG2. Newtown Kennel Club saw Kilkenny’s Best of My Love take Best of Breed. Elm City KC was a BOB for Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney (and an OHG4) and she also took it at Ox Ridge KC.

News That there now is a Canadian Champion Glen and that honour of the first made up goes to Abberann Phelan.

The “brains” department is well represented by Ginny who earned her RATO (Open Barn Hunt) title and was so fast she came in first.

Finally a reminder of the Dutch Glen Games on the 16th & 17th September. If anybody fancies a weekend away you’ll be very, very welcome!

The Game Fair was down at Hatfield House, Hertford and Glen of Imaal Terriers were there in the Discover Dogs area. Had an email that said “nice to see the Glens there” and just learnt (thanks Nicki) it was the Hanningtons manning the fort as well as the Atkins. Just as important as any dog show.

The Finnish Glen Speciality mentioned last week was far more than just a one day dog show as there was a weekend Glen happening which also included weight pulling, lure coursing, lots of competitions for children etc.

Well done indeed everybody!!

Group placements galore & 30 for supper!

Vermont seems to like Glen of Imaal Terriers. A Group 2 for Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend whilst Best Opposite Kilkenny’s Best of My Love took OHG1. Friday friend of a Friend was again BOB with Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney BOS. The star of the day was Finnabair DD Shut Up & Kiss Me who was BP, BPG1 and BPIS. At the July Klub Sieger exhibition Best of Breed and Best Veteran was Billy Tow vom Au Deich and  Fear Fiuntair Candy Keva Best Opposite

And finally….how did THE day go at Swineshead? Rather well actually. It was a bit dull but nothing like the rain forecast. The ultimate sin was committed as the cake stall ran out. All the raffle prizes went and 30, yes 30, folk were along the tables for supper. So it was alright then.

Incredibly busy few weeks!!

Glen of Imaal Terrier people never stop; new titles, new Champions, Group placings, even a Best Puppy In Show, it’s been a great few weeks.

There has been a lot of beauty but also there has been a lot of brains. Monique sends news that “Ginny had fun at the Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) trial on Saturday, qualifying in 4 out of 5 nosework classes and earning a title in Novice Containers. Also Ginny qualified for the third time in the Novice Barn Hunt class, earning her RATN title! She then moved up to the Open class for the afternoon trial and was successful again. Both of her runs were first place finishes also!” Also a celebration of (one) new title for Glens when Bregorrey Sovereign Storm added a CBAT to the end of his name by titling in the Fast CAT. Stormy was clocked at an incredible 22 mph! The American Kennel Club has just introduced a Trick Dog title. The all performing pair of Winston & Griff are the first two Glens to be awarded the titles.

Finishing off with another Group placement, this time from Abberann Derbla at St Hubert KC.

All these fabulous Glen of Imaals in the ring would only have been seen if you were at the shows. Getting the breed out and about to people is just as important and at the London Pet Show Leia, Reilly, Dylan, Candy, Toby and their respective humans flew the flag with honour!
