MIDLAND COUNTIES-GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

May I thank the officers and committee for their hospitality. The support of the exhibitors was much appreciated, especially on a Friday. If only we could award first places to everyone.

PGD (1) George’s Rockbuster From Romainville. 2yrs blue dog. Good head with dark eye & good ear carriage. A strong neck leading to a well sprung rib. Not too long in the loin & a good length double coat. Has the desired bow to front legs & moved soundly with drive. Will only improve with maturity. BD

OD (3) 1A 1st Sage’s Romainville Fast N’furious At Wickholm. 51/2 yrs Blue dog with a good head. Correct ears, eye shape & correct scissor bite. Level gentle rise to the topline & a good broad chest. I would like to see more muscle but moved soundly.

2nd Alsteads Ch Golden Spurs Almost 4yr old blue brindle dog. Much to like and on another day positions could be reversed. Needs more drive on the move.

PB (1) George’s Romainville Rock on Lizzie. At 8 months this wheaten pup has a lot to fill out but once the muscle & maturity arrives she should turn into a nice bitch. Good angulation front & rear. Well sprung ribs. Shoulders well laid back. Nice deep chest presented with good textured double coat. Sound movement fore & aft. BP + RBB

OB (4) 1st Harley’s Ch Donvaleset Brier. At almost 10 years of age this wheaten bitch still commands in the ring. Well muscled throughout on good bone structure. Good front & rear angulation. Nice strong scissor bite, dark eye, correct ear shape & carriage. Level topline rising gently to good tail onset. Good length & texture to wiry top coat with soft undercoat presented neatly. Good broad chest with well sprung ribs. Sound movement. BB & BOB.

2nd Georges Romainville Maggie May. 3yr old wheaten bitch. Although on the smaller size she is well proportioned. Muscle will add to the overall picture as I couldn’t find any major faults. I’ll be watching her future development

CRITIQUE FOR BIRMINGHAM & DISTRICT GUNDOG & TERRIER CLUB TWIN GROUP OPEN SHOW                                              GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER                                              SUNDAY 17TH APRIL 2016

Thanks to the commitee for the appointment and the excellent hospitality. A friendly show as usual. Thank you all for the good entry of well behaved Glens. On the whole coats were good. No problems with eye shape or colour. Ears and tails. ( it helps sometimes with tails to block out anything more than a fist full). Movement generally good. I didn’t have any major concerns with Top lines. Though, there was concern with a few mouths, rear angulation and a few getting long in the loin. Just remember that Glens mature late so don’t give up till they reach 20 yrs!

Are you ready for Sunday at Crufts?

Some Glen of Imaal Terrier people have started travelling, some have arrived already and the majority have yet to start the journey to the NEC for the best day of the event; Terrier Day. Of course have a great trip whatever stage you are of the journey and we’ll see you there and hopefully, if you’re a super long distancer, it isn’t going too badly up to yet. It’s preaching to the converted of course but have you got the comfy shoes found? The headache tablets in the bag? The passes to get in? The map in the car in case roadworks overrun? and have you remembered to get (and set) a couple of alarm clocks for the 9.00am judging start? If you have promised to pay Jean (and Noel) your 2016 EFG (and GOITA) memberships please put the money in an envelope with your name on the outside-it saves a heap of money all rattling around together and then them getting home with a “whose was that?” cry.

There will be Schedules for the EFG Open Show available so if you can’t remember where you put yours from before Christmas…….also entries can be handed in (hint, hint). The EFG Open Show marks the 20th Year since beginning so it’s a bit special. Besides the monetary Specials there are one off trophies to be won and rather an excellent raffle prize for any Glen of Imaal Terrier owner or fancier.

ClockOf course we’d love to see you but you don’t have to actually be there to have a chance of owning this. The “limited” calendar was so successful this is to be a “limited” raffle. 52 playing cards will be available at £1 per card so if you’d like a chance of owning it just email jean (jean@e-f-g.co.uk) and tell her what card you would like, maybe the 10 of hearts is your lucky card. That card will then have your name on it and is then unavailable.

After the judging of the Open Show an unopened pack of cards will be handed to the judge to break open and pick a card out. That card will then be matched up to the name on the card in the named pack and the clock will be yours.

Remember as well that the EFG Open Show is held in conjunction with Birmingham Gundog & Terrier and this year they have allocated 10 classes for Glens with breed judge Tony Hadley. Two shows, two judges, one set of travelling costs, specials, prizes, how can you go wrong!

And don’t forget Sunday is BIRTHDAY CAKE day. 20 years of the EFG is to be celebrated with any and all friends of Glen of Imaal Terriers. As judging is so flippin’ early it’ll give plenty of time afterwards
