Well done all!

Glen of Imaal Terriers (and their folk) like getting out and about. In Finland at Turkuu International Best of Breed was Gleann Una Noonan with Rosears Humpty Dumpty getting the nod for Best Opposite. SKK International Show at Malmo saw McCormac Setna Sithbacc take the big rosette and in Germany Fire & Ice Lady Killer was top of the heap at Hamm.

Over in the States GCH Daulton’s Emerald Green had three Best of Breeds at Columbia, Greater Monroe and Fayetteville with a Group 4 & 3 Owner Handler at the latter two. The biggest applause has to be for Gerrardstown Maiden Fair who added RATI to the rear of her name at eleven and a half years young!

Goodbye George

Last year we said farewell to Kathy’s Fred, earlier this year it was adieu to Jean’s Tony and now it is goodbye George. He may have only recently joined the Glen of Imaal Terrier fraternity but he embraced it with much verve and enthusiasm and was overjoyed when Kyla took the Bitch CC at Darlington in 2012. He, and partner Stephen, decided to make Canada their home and looking forever forward took bag, baggage and dogs out there. It didn’t stop him coming back to the UK though and only a few weeks ago was here to see his latest grandchild……pure circumstance that he could combine it with Crufts. George’s ash’s are being flown back to the UK and a memorial Service will be held at Gornal Wood Crematorium on April 8th at 9.40am

This photo is for George, and to show Stephen and his family how he will be remembered; a man who loved to socialise and if it could be combined with dogs he was truly happy! EFGfun_George

An excellent AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Glen of Imaal Terrier Enthusiasts & Fanciers Club (EFG) was held last weekend. It was a busy (and productive) 90 minutes for the attendees, some of which had seriously travelled! Future plans were provisionally put into place, judges ratified, rules revised and discussion brisk. The AGM was then followed by a “full house” Committee Meeting.

The EFG website is now updated with the Breeders Section added to the Code of Ethics.

EFG Open Show entries close tomorrow!

Entries close tomorrow (March 26th) for the EFG Open Show on Sunday April 19th. It is held in conjunction with Birmingham Gundog & Terrier so two shows can be had for one set of travelling costs! There is the usual generous sponsorship from Royal Canin and the BIS will also take home £10 with £5 each respectively for RBIS, Best Veteran & Best Puppy. Ryton On Dunsmore is easy to get to from all parts of the country so why not give it a go!

2015_open_show_schedule (This will download as a .pdf is you’ve forgotten where you’ve put your schedule) Birmingham Gundog & Terrier have their schedule on Fosse data.

First weekend of Spring.

Great way to celebrate the (hopefully) beginning of better weather with a Glen of Imaal Terrier getting a Group 2! Stiubhard Cutie Pie was BOB at Lahti International and then went onto GP 2. Gleann Bigwig was Best Opposite. In Latvia Marfidal Koitiva Vaara took home the Best of Breed ribbon.

In America Ch RainbowSpings Geeruh Laoch added RATI to his name. Kelli and mark’s pair of boys though….wow. Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone, BN,RN, JE, RATN, CGCA, NW1 earned his Open Barn Hunt title (RATO) and his first leg in Senior Barn Hunt (RATS.) Griffin won 4 first places and 2 high in class ribbons also! So impressed with it all!!!!

All sympathy to Jagger’s owners

Anybody with even the vaguest interest in dogs or Crufts will have seen the headlines regarding Jagger the Irish Setter. Social and actual media went into terrific overdrive and many, many things were written. The toxicology reports are now in and this statement has been released. It has been fleetingly covered but, compared to the initial brouhaha, nothing has been said. It just shows how easy it is for a dog to quickly pick something up.
