We’ve “done” an eye testing notification, Crufts closing date, AGM, January KC Kennel Journal, Open Show schedules, committee minutes, critiques and asked if people would be interested in a calendar for 2018? Think that’s the main bulk done. Obviously there has to be a reminder about paying breed club memberships…..we all forget these things but they do need to be done so Jean (EFG) and Noel (Association) would love to have an envelope from you and so would the various secretaries and treasurers of the Glen of Imaal Terrier Clubs around the world. Oh yes, don’t forget National Terrier-Glen judge Peter Bakewell-closes February 17(postal).
So it’s now time for the annual hibernation. Best of luck if you are entered for Westminster, if you have misplaced your EFG Open Show schedule it can be downloaded from here and we’ll close with a photograph that says Glen of Imaal Terriers CAN do it, just believe!
Golden Spurs-Best In Show North Wales Canine Society Christmas Show
Crufts closes on Monday. Terrier Day is Thursday and the judge of Glen of Imaal Terriers is Alan Small. Glens will be judged in Hall 1, Ring 6 and they are 3rd in the ring so be prepared for a very long day!
The Christmas edition of Our Dogs Ireland is now online for viewing. There are a couple of nice pictures of a Glen of Imaal Terrier placing in the Terrier Group. It isn’t hard to guess who it is!
The Annual General Meeting of the Glen of Imaal Terrier Enthusiasts and Fanciers Club (EFG)will be held after judging on 1st April 2017 at National Terrier, Bingley Hall, Staffordshire.
Items for the agenda and nominations for officers and committee need to be sent to the Secretary four weeks before the AGM.
All items for inclusion on the agenda must be in writing and proposed and seconded by fully paid up members of the Club
Jean Rogers (Hon Sec),
Last year the EFG did a Glen of Imaal Terrier calendar to celebrate 20 years since the club’s formation. Such was the interest that the initial run was doubled. It was intended to be a one off but there have been many requests for another one so we’re asking…….would Glen of Imaal Terrier owners, enthusiasts and admirers like another one for 2018? It has already been suggested we should.
If Glen people worldwide would like one we’re more than happy to run the same system as last year. Your best/favourite Glen photographs to be sent electronically, they would then be shortlisted purely on quality of reproduction basis. They would then be sent “blind” (no names of dogs, photographers, country etc.) to the EFG committee who would decide the final calendar. Mobile phone photographs could also be accepted as they could form part of the montage on the front.
Interested in a 2018 calendar? Do let Jean Rogers know firstname.lastname@example.org
The January Kennel Club journal is now online
We’re always happy to put up Open Shows that schedule Glen of Imaal Terriers but the details do need sending..unsubtle hint!

The World Dog Show 2017 is to be held in Leipzig on November 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th. The judges have been announced and Gertrud Hagstrom of Sweden is to judge Glen of Imaal Terriers. Terrier Day is on Saturday November 11th.
Why don’t Glen of Imaal Terriers go to many Open Shows now? They used to get big entries from the breed and often Glens would be in the top six for numbers but not anymore. All breeds though are seeing a decline at this level of showing and there is a survey online (by Dog World & Lintbells) to see what people think and if they have any ideas for change. Give it a go.
