What a week!

This weekĀ let’s start in America. The big Florida/Eukanuba/AKC Ā Cluster started lasted Tuesday with Space Coast KC of Palm Bay (another wonderful name) and the first days honours went to Kilkenny’s Across The Universe at Setanta with Abberann lament for Owen Roe Best Opposite, the two Selects Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas & Daulton’s Caoimhe of Pine Meadow. Brevard Kennel Club was next up and Across The Universe took the Best Opposite ribbon to Finnabair Double D Friend of a Friend. The two Selects were again Emmet and Caoimhe. Thursday was central Florida KC with Double D Best of Breed again, Caoimhe “moved up” to Best Opposite and Emmet picked up another Select along with Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight. The finish was the 2018 AKC National Championship and friend of a Friend was once again Best of Breed with Across the Universe Best Opposite. Two Selects were (Dog) Owen Roe and (Bitch) Caoimhe.

The Helsinki Winners had Gleann Indico Indy Best of Breed with Finnabair Broc Rua Arda of Gleann Best Bitch. Best Veteran Gleann Una Noonan. On the same day the Helsinki Puppy Show was held and BOB was Gleann Kahki Kylie and BOS Gleann Kooky Kanye. The Finnish Winners on the following day saw BOB going to Pearytail Bonnie B Goode and BOS to Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard. Another Puppy Show was held and Kooky Kanye was BOB and then waved to a very nice indeed 4th place in the Puppy Group. Best Opposite to him was Meomodo Divas Dancing Angel. The Swedish Winners was a triumph for Cairdiulacht Daibhi MacMiolmor and BOS (plus Swedish Veteran Winner) was Gleann Una Noonan.Glenrosedale BanrĆon RĆ³s CroĆ made the journey to Russia and returned with two Best of Breeds and her Russian Championship

Ladies Kennel Association saw Boudivella Osca finish off a good year with Best of Breed and Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage was Best Bitch. When it is your first dog, your first show and you take home the Best Puppy rosette it’s a fair bet a new exhibitor may have been born; welcome Doug The Dog aka Borderglen Michaelmas.

The “brain brigade” were also out in force, evenĀ at the Agility Invitational in Florida.Ā Ā Niamh was competing there andĀ earned the Top in Breed Medallion for Glens.Ā  She was also awarded the Top Agility Glen of Imaal Terrier for 2017.Elsewhere Jeff Dairiki reports ” CiarĆ”n went six for six in the Masters ring this weekend at the RiverRat Barn Hunt trials, just earning his RATCHX8! He tied in points for the special Master Super Dog award for the weekend, but lost in the rat-off to Lisa Bennett’s Airedale, Oakley”. Griffin and Winston are just exhausting to read about sometimes as Kelli writes ” Griffin and Winston trialled in AKC Scent Work this weekend and earned 3 new scent work titled total. Griffin received 6 qualifying Ā in Advanced Ā Scent Work (3 in buried, 1 in exterior and 2 and interior with placements) Ā Griffin also earned his Advanced Buried title. Winston earned 6 qualifying scores in Advanced Scent Work ( 2 in buried, 2 in exterior, 1 in container and 1 in interior) Winston earned 2 Scent work titles in Advanced Interiors and Buried along with placements. I can’t remember who earned which placements though! Monique sends news of Ginny in both Agility and Scent work “Ginny qualified and placed first in her Excellent Jumpers Preferred class at an AKC Agility trial on Saturday. On Sunday she qualified in all 4 element classes (Intermediate & Advanced levels) at a USCSS Scent Work trial and earned a title in Intermediate Interior.”

Whatever they are doing Glen of Imaal Terrier people are just astounding!!

Darlington critique

GLEN OF IMAAL TERRIER

PD (1)

1 Harley’s Abberham Running Down A Dream. Very promising young man. Medium sizes as asked for and excellent strength and substance throughout for his age. Good head, eye and expression. Pleasing depth of chest, well sprung ribs and well developed hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Once he got into his stride moved well with a positive ground covering action, BP.

OD (3)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Oscar. Thought him very typical throughout. Best of heads with excellent strength of foreface. Strong muscular neck set in well placed shoulders, pleasing front, good bone and the best of feet. Firm body, good width of chest and correct topline and tailset. Powerful quarters that he used to advantage on the move. Good harsh cost, moved well fore and aft, CC & BOB.

2 Alstead’s Ch Golden Spurs. Another very impressive example of the breed. Good size with lovely bone and substance. Typical in head, good strength of jaw and a pleasing eye and expression. Excellent depth of chest, big ribs and a firm backline. Well rounded hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Best of coats, pleasing ground covering action on the move, Res.CC.

VB (1)

1 Harley’s Ch Donvaleset Brier. Very well made bitch, good shape with a very typical outlook. Well off for strength and substance throughout. Pleasing head, neat well set ears and a good eye and expression. Good body shape, firm topline and well made quarters. Positive mover, BV.

PB (1)

1 Hope’s Borderglens Rose. Very much a baby but of overall good make and shape. Good head and eye. Pleasing depth of chest for her age, nice spring of rib and well rounded hindquarters. In good coat. Was a little unsteady on the move but once she got into her stride moved well.

JB (3)

1 Forbes’ Jeonty Dreams A Dream With Karensbrae. Lovely young bitch who took your eye as soon as she entered the ring. Very well made throughout. Feminine outlook but has excellent strength and substance for her age. Good head, lovely eye and expression. Best of fronts standing on good legs and feet, well developed body and a good tailset and carriage. Moved soundly on a free and easy stride. Coat could be a tad harsher but on the day could not be denied top honours, CC.

2 Martell’s Jeonty Letty Be Magic. Another I liked a lot. See she is the litter sister of the winner and has many of her siblings qualities, just need to develop in body to complete the picture. Good make and shape. Pleasing head with good strength and a very typical outlook. Strong neck set in well placed shoulders, correct topline and well developed quarters for her age. Sound on the move.

3 Borderglens Rose.

LB (2)

1 Hannington’s Boudivella Tegan. Excellent strength and substance but still keeps a feminine outlook. Good head shape, strong jaw, big teeth and the best of expressions. Well made front assembly, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Nicely rounded hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Harsh coat and very positive on the move.

2 James & O’Brien’s Amhard Jessie Jay. Well made bitch who was close up to the winner. Good strength in head with a pleasing eye and expression. Muscular neck and a pleasing layback of shoulder. Firm body and topline that she kept on the move. Well muscled quarters. On the move could not match the winners attitude and verve.

OB (1)

1 Alstead’s Ch Sigrid Helga At Pantcottage. Very good bitch who was in excellent form on the day. Excellent strength and substance and has a very typical outlook. Good head shape, neat well set ears and the best of expressions. Lovely bone and feet, well developed body and nicely angulated hindquarters. Had her in my mind for top honours but in the final run off in the challenge was not as fluent as the young bitch and had to pay the price, Res CC.

Catching up with A LOT!

Holy Macaroni, Glen of Imaal Terriers have been doing us all so proud over the last couple of weeks it’s hard to know where to start!

Canada can take the honours this week as it is a very rare breed there in the showring so Groups are the thing for competition. Gleann Holy Hannah took a Gp1 and Gp4 United Kennel Club and Group 2 x2 at Moncton. Abberann Derbla 2 X Gp3 at Credit Valley Kennel Club plus Gp4 Georgina KC. Staying on that Continent and Gleann Damn Daisy, holidaying there from Finland, is getting seriously noticed with a GP3 at Central Florida KC, GP4 at Jacksonville Dog Fanciers plus BOB at the 2nd show, 2Ā BOBs at Treasure Coast KC of Florida, BOB Seminole Dog Fanciers AssociationĀ plus GP2 at Seminole’sĀ second show, Greater Ocala Dog Club was another BOB. BOS at Jacksonville was a new name to the blog, Long Lake Pharms Angus Fuller. Welcome to showing Glens and love your kennel name. Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock was BOB Space Coast Kennel Club of Palm Bay and the second Greater Ocala.

Leaving Florida and going to Pennsylvania Ber-D-Mar Sweet William O’Shea was BOB Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association & both Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Tipperary American Girl took BOB Penn Treaty KC. Heading north and west Kilkenny’s Across The Universe to Setanta, Gp4 at Pontiac KC & Greater Muskegon KC, BOB at Grand Rapids KC, Dayton KC, Lima KC with Abberann Lament for Owen Roe picking up GP4 at Kalamazoo KC and Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore OHG4 at Pontiac KC and Grand Rapids. Daulton’s Gedunk Malone from Emerald Isle picked up the last BOB of the weekend from Ohio

Northern Europe and Gleann Una Noonan has to do the lead in. Best Opposite at the Norwegian Winners as well as BOS at Jyvaskyla (Day 2) she was Best veteran in Breed day one and then took Best Veteran in Show out of over 70 veterans competing for the honour! Gleann Bigwig was BOB at the Norwegian Winners to her and Gleann Indico Indy at Jyvaskyla. Day 1 of that show saw Gleann Cotton Cody & Gleann Dear Dandelion taking the top honours. To Norway again and Rosears Master of The House was BOB Nordic Winners with BOS Pearytail Bonnie B Goode. Vaxjo (Sweden) was a BOB for Rosears Master of The House with Rosears Nugget of Gold Best Bitch. Flipping to the Danish Winners and Cairdiulacht Diarmuid MacMiolmor took Best and BOS was Rosears Nugget of Gold. Gleann Kooky Kanye was BOB atĀ LempƤƤlƤ Puppy Show with Best Opposite Sex to Meomodo Dancing Angel. Two Best of Breeds in Germany for My Dear Fellow Calimero The Angel and in Rotterdam Amhard Manhattan took Best of Breed and his Dutch Junior Championship. Belgium to finish off and Boudivella Osca took BOB at both the Euro Dog Show & Benelux with Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage taking Best Opposite at both.

Said it had been a serious bit of breed promotion and it isn’t done yet. The “brains” department was also flying the flag. Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae passed her Silver Good Citizens and “Poppy” (need a name) in America also took her Good Citizens and earned 90 out of 100 in Rally Advanced. Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette qualified RATCHX7 which makes him the highest qualified barn Hunting Glen in the USA. Daulton’s Captain Jack of Roseglen took his BCAT title to show how incredibly diverse Glens are as a breed.

All over the world Glen of Imaal Terrier folk regularly give their time to promote the breed at many exhibitions and events. The National Pet Show was held recently and Alfie, Basil, Gil, Inga and Murfi showed everybody just what a Glen is. It’s also great when breed owners decide to get together “just for fun” as happened recently with the New Jersey Fall Glen Gathering.

All of us are wowed with your dedication and talent to showĀ the breed in so many places!

Certainly a BUSY weekend!!

The biggie in the Glen of Imaal Terrier world this last weekend, as it is for any showĀ terriers, is the group of shows known as the Montgomery Cluster. The 4 day event starts off with Hatboro 1, then Hatboro 2, Devon and finally Montgomery Terrier Show itself. Starting in Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life was BOB over her brother Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friend, her son Finnabair You Should be So Lucky was Best of Winners. Hatboro 2 also went the way of the ladies with Kilkenny’s Across The UniverseĀ At Setanta over Friend of A Friend once more. Gleann Damn Daisy took BOW. Devon was a reversal of the Hatboro 1 top placings-Friend of A Friend over Ain’t It The Life-Ā with Damn Daisy again Best of Winners. Montgomery (with the GITCA Specialty)Ā finished off the weekend with a repeat of the Devon results and Finnabair You Should Be So Lucky once again Best of Winners. America is one heck of a big country though and other Group placings were being recorded. Abberann Phelan was Group 3 at Greater Omaha Terrier Association & Abberann Lament for Owen Roe Gp4 at Cornhusker KC of Lincoln Nebraska. Canada also saw two Group placements (2xGp3)Ā with Abberann Derbla at Nipissing KC.

In Germany My Dear Fellow Cordula The Angel was BOB at Rostock and on the following day repeated her win at the Klub Fur Terrier Show. At that show Spirit of Ireland Batida de CoCo was Best Veteran and then won the Veteran Group! In Finland at Tuulos Group Show Gleann Gildea with Nellie took Best of Breed with Best Opposite Sex going to Gleann Ho Ho Hogan. Two days of showing in Ireland and once again it was the lady to the fore on day one with Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore taking BOB over Golden Spurs. Day 2 Sky had to bend a paw as her kennelmate Abberann Conan pipped her for Best of Breed. South Wales Kennel Association means just two shows left with CCs for Glen of Imaals before the end of the year. At SWKA Boudivella Osca was the man over Jeonty Jyn A New Hope who took her third ticket and Best Opposite Sex. The two Reserves being Romainville Rock A Fella, who was also Best Puppy & Amhard Mai Tai.

“Brains” have also been in action. Laura Trainor writes We are competing at the Montgomery Terrier Agility trials. There is a competition for best breed “village” with the theme of the old west. The Mini Schnauzers had a photo booth to benefit their rescue. Unfortunately, Niamh was able to make use of their reasons to be WANTED for her standard run.Ā  She redeemed herself in her JumpersĀ run, qualifying under judge Pamela Sturtz. This Q was her 75th lifetime qualifying Master Jumpers With Weaves run, earning her the title Master Jumpers Preferred Gold! Later in the day she also qualified in Master Barn Hunt. Good Girl Niamh! and from Monique Anthony:-Ginny participated in AKC Agility trials this past weekend and qualified twice in the Novice Standard Preferred class and once in the Open Jumpers Preferred class, placing first or second each time.

The full Montgomery results have arrived: Glen of Imaal Terrier Club of America National Specialty. Breeder-Judge Bruce Sussman. Sweeps Judge longtime breeder Maura High. BOB GCHS Finnabair Double D Friend Of A Friend BOS Ch Finnabair DD Ain’t It The Life WD/BOW/BPSW Finnabair You Should Be So Lucky WB/AOM Gleann Damn Daisy Select Dog GCHS Keadeens Sir Emmet Mingus Glas Select Bitch and Best Bred By GCh Daulton’s Caiomhe of Pine Meadow AOM Ch Berdmar Sweet William O’Shea AOM Ch Finnabair Shorlyne Caatskill Comedy Tonight Best Puppy Finnabair Phoenix Rising At Shorlyne Best Veteran Sweeps Ch Niamh of Cnoc

Fabulous weekend all!

Ā

At Hyvinkaa Group Show Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed, Best Veteran & Group 3. marfidal Rain Dance was Best Opposite Sex to her. In Tallinn Rosears Master of the House was BOB whilst at the Danish Winners Gleann Gildea with Nelli was Best of Breed and Gleann Ho Ho Hogan Best Dog. A bit quieter weekend in America (people getting prepared for Montgomery perhaps) but still Group placements. Ā Two Group 2s for Kilkenny Across The Universe at Setanta at Sheboygan and a OHG4 for Tipperary That Girl who was Best Bitch to Finnabair Double D Friend of A Friends BOB at Butler County who Himself then took a Group 2 at the second Butler County Show.Ā West Volusia KC saw Kilkenny’s Irish American Classic at Castlerock take Best of Breed.

Glens were in varieties in the UK and most successfully. Boudivella Osca was at Bedfordshire Canine Society where he took Best NSC, Group 4 and 1st in the Vulnerable Breed Stakes. Up in Scotland Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae was at Perthshire CC and was rewarded with a Group 1 placement from NSC Terrier.

Monique writes that “Ginny earned her AKC Advanced Interior Scent Work title on Sunday.Ā  This title combined with the 3 earned last weekend in Advanced Buried, Container, and Exterior completes the requirements for her overall Scent Work Advanced (SWA) title!” and the Dutch Glen Games in the Netherlands were evidently a total blast and the NE Glen Gathering in Massachusetts had a wonderful time practising sociability for their big 25th next year!

Great weekend everybody.

And this weekend….

…Glen of Imaal terrier folk were out and about as usual.

In the UK Darlington saw a new Champion and one starting on the path when Boudivella Osca took his 3rd CC and Best of Breed with Jeonty Dreams A Dream with Karensbrae taking her first CC. The two Reserves were Golden Spurs and Sigrid Helga at Pantcottage. Donvaleset Brier was Best Veteran with Abberann Running Down a Dream Best Puppy. Over in Finland Oulu Show had Gleann Flatbone Stiubhard take BOB and Astoreen Best Bitch.

Quite a few Group placings happening in America. At Lehigh Valley KC Show Tipperary Ballyfinboy Liam of Cnoc was OHG2 and at Licking River KC (love that name) Daulton’s Ciaran of Pine Meadow was OHG3 and G2 with sister Daulton’s Caoimhe Best Bitch. Remarkably at the second Licking River they swopped places with Caoimhe getting exactly the same OHG3 and G2! At both Cape Cod KC and South Shore Kilkenny’s Best of My Love was Best of Breed with Kilkenny’s Stopping By Woods Best Opposite and Puppy Group 3 at Cape Cod. At the Sunday Show Kilkenny’s Glen Rooney was BOB and OHG3 with Stopping By Woods again Best Opposite. In Canada at Oakville & District KC Abberann Derbla was Group 2.

The Midland Game Fair was held at Weston park and the breed was there. Thanks to everybody who supported. Ginny was showing the breed’s prowess in the Brains Department with 3 new AKC Scent Work titles this weekend:Ā  Advanced Buried, Advanced Container, and Advanced Exterior!Ā  She also dramatically qualified in her first Excellent Buried class by finding the 3rd and final target odor with less than 4 seconds to spare.Ā

Congratulations everybody
