Another busy weekend!

Summer is hopefully here and some Glen of Imaal Terrier exhibitors are celebrating it by getting out and about on the road.

We’ll start in Europe at Sligo (Ireland) and Best of Breed there was Daulton’s Midnight Sky of Galore with Abberann Phelan Best Dog. In Germany the KfT Klubseigers at Beusheim were der Fellow Ashton de CoCo and Fire & Ice Liberty. In Finland Gleann Una Noonan was BOB and Gleann Cotton Candy Best Opposite at Orivesi whilst at Mantsala Cotton Candy was BOB & his sister Curvy Corvette BOS and both became Finnish Champions.

Over in America THE news is another Best In Show for Glen of Imaal Terriers and this time it was Abberann Torcan who bought honour to the breed at Belvidere and then got a Gp2 the next day. A cluster in Ohio (two Green River KC Shows and one Ashtabula KC) saw numerous Group placings. At Green River 1 Daulton’s Rory was BOB & OHGp4 with Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham Best Bitch. Ashtabula had the honours reversed with Cora getting the nod and OHGp4 with Rory Best Opposite and Green River 2 finished off a rather good weekend for Cora with another BOB, OHGp3 and Terrier Group 4, Rory was Best Dog to her again. A cluster in Vermont-Two Woodstock Dog Club & two Green Mountain Dog Club had Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore taking 3 Best of Breeds and a Group 4 with Kilkenny Granite Glen Rooney (BOS at Woodstock 1) getting a OHGp4 as well and she then went on to BOB at Green Mountain 2.

Oh yes it was the EFG Funday as well and it went pretty well. Just to wet the appetite today is only a picture of the BIS and the RBIS who was also Best Puppy. There will be more tomorrow!

Well done to everybody for a great weekend-whether flying the flag in the exhibition ring or flying the flag to show how great Glen people are at the EFG day.

A little quieter weekend…

….but still four Glen of Imaal Terrier results to applaud and one fabulous “brains” achievement.

At Windsor Boudivella Oscar was Best of Breed with Amhard Jessie Jay Best Bitch whilst at Bray Abberann Phelan was BOB with Daulton Midnight Sky of Galore Best Opposite. It was the Finnish Glen Club Specialty Show and Gleann Una Noonan took the BIS honours with Abberann Fagan Best Dog whilst in the States Tipperary Cora Countess of Grantham was BOB at Bushy Run Kennel Club.

Monique writes:-“Oliver earned a title in the Excellent Speed nosework class at the Performance Scent Dogs trial in New Hampshire on Saturday! He also earned bronze first places in the Excellent Distance class and a second Excellent Speed class”

Well done all!

Top Glen of Imaal Terriers 2015

In the UK: Ch Romainville Billy Whizz.

In Ireland: Ch Abberann Phelan who can now have Multi Champion written in front of his name as his Dutch Championship, to add to his Irish and UK, was confirmed just before Christmas.

In Finland: Ch Gleann Una Noonan.

The USA haven’t declared officially for the end of the year but provisionally, and here it is interesting as they run two tables one on Group placings and one on breed placings. The Group table has GCH Finnabair Ardmore Ned at number one and the breed table has GCH Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton at the top-she also “manages” number 3 in Group placings also.

The UK also has announced Top Breeder, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch and Puppy. They are, respectively, Romainville, Ch/Dutch/Del Ch Jeonty Wannabe Buster, Ch Brockland Belle Bregorrey and Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty (who is the son of the Finnish Top Glen)

Congratulations everybody; a great year for you all!

What a collection!!!

Finnish Winners, Helsinki Winners, Nordic Winners, Holland Cup, Eukanuba Cluster and LKA; what a collection of Glen of Imaal Terriers!!

The Helsinki & Finnish Winners are held together and also have a Puppy Show included. The Helsinki Winners saw Gleann Bigwig BOB with Gleann Una Noonan Best Opposite whilst the Finnish saw Una Noonan Best of Breed with Gleann Cotton Candy taking Best Dog. At the Puppy Show Pearytail Candy McCoy get the nod with Pearytail Clumsy Clint bowing the paw to his sister and then the Pearytail Kennel also took a fabulous BIS3 Breeder Group! At the Nordic Winners the currently all conquering Una Noonan was Best of Breed with Gleann Bumpkin taking Best Opposite Sex.

The Eukanuba Cluster in Florida had nearly a week of shows. Space Coast KC of Palm Bay (love the name) Had Daulton’s Princess C Hatteras BOB with Finnabair Caatskill’s Thunderstruck at Shorlyne Best Dog. Central Florida Kennel Club was a win for Finnabair Double D friend of a friend and Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney Best Bitch. Brevard KC had Finnabair Ardmore Ned at the top of the pile Glen Rooney again Best Opposite. As there are so many Pro-Handlers in the States Eukanuba has a National Owner Handler Series. Finnabair Song O’My Heart took the Big Rosette home with Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone standing at the top in the dogs. At the Eukanuba show itself Daulton’s Wild Night of Galore was Best of Breed and, the very confusing named if UK based, Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney Best Opposite (also Best Bred By) with two Selects being given to Ber-D-Mar Ballygriffin of Greystone & Finnabair Song O’My Heart. There was also a Chicago Cluster and Abberann Torcan, sire of the Eukanuba BOB, did Glens proud with a Group 2 and 2 x Group 3. 4 month old Abberann Stars & Stripes Ruari made a great start in her show career with Group 1 win for Beginner Puppy. Jeonty Sunny Sky Baby was BOB at Shoreline Dog Fanciers. A result that had somehow disappeared into the ether, and has now reappeared, is from Ozarks Kennel Club. Castle Valley China Girl of Glenbride was BOB, with Coleraines Coldplay Best Opposite, on Day One. Day Two saw Coldplay take BOB with Best Bitch being awarded to Coleraine’s Ginger Snap.

As a small aside Eukanuba is a Crufts qualifier so that means three of the five qualified from the US throughout the year could come over as they are undocked. Torcan did it most successfully last year so will Bill Browne-Cole be seeing some American cousins?

The Holland Cup was a triumph for Abberann Phelan and, rather than a photograph, he can be seen around 1 minute 58 seconds on here and at the Amsterdam Winners he triumphed once again.

LKA is the last All Breed Championship Show of the Year in the UK. Best of Breed was awarded to Jeonty MeMe Fern with Best Dog going to Brockland Brayhead Lad, the two Reserves were Donvaleset Domino, who was also Best Veteran, and Romainville Billy Whizz respectively. Best Puppy went to Boudivella Oscar.

We are proud!!!

Late November but the round up this week is HUGE news. First let’s hear from Laura “Niamh earned her PACH title at the Talcott Mt. agility trial in Springfield, MA today. She is the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to do so. To achieve a PACH – Preferred Agility Champion, she had to earn 20 Double Qs, qualifying in both Standard and Jumpers courses on the same day and 750 points, one point for every second under course time. I’m very proud of her. PACH GCH Niamh of Cnoc CD BN PCD RE MXP5 MXPS MJP5 MJPS PAX MFP T2BP JE RATO CGCA”.

Then it’s Monique with the now 16 year old Oliver “Today in New Hampshire, Oliver earned two NACSW Nose Work titles: NW3-C (Container search) and NW3-I (Interior search). He is the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn all four NW3 Element titles by successfully passing each element at 3 different trials! So proud that my old guy is still capable of having fun and earning titles to boot! So to give him his full due it’s ARBA CH. Rainbow Springs Oliver Twist SE, RN, RATI, RATS, NW1, NW2, NW3-V, NW3-E, NW3-C, NW3-I, L1I, L1V, SD-NB, SD-NC, SD-NE, SD-AD

For an incredible, unbelievable third report in one weekend Winston, assisted by Mark, earned his Canine Nose Work (NW2)title with the National Association of Canine Scentwork.

A late catch up from Jeff Dairiki “Last weekend, at the Whidbey Island KC show in Monroe, WA, our Ciarán went BOB both days: Saturday under judge Robert Hutton, Sunday under judge Mareth Kipp.  Saturday’s win, a five-point major, finished his championship, making him “CH Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette CA RATS”! Ciarán’s mother, CH Liberty’s Colors of Keadeen (Violet), took BOS both days, and brother CH Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas (Emmet) was SEL both days, so it was all in the family.

Over in Finland it was a back to back weekend for the Jyvaskyla International. On Saturday it was BOB Gleann Bigwig and BOS Pearytail Artless Tess and Sunday BOB to Gleann Una Noonan with BOS Gleann Bigwig. The Danish Terrier Club also had a double weekend with Saturday seeing Hammersmolles Pandora at the top with Gleann Willie the Whale Best Dog. Sunday saw a reverse of the placings with Pandora going onto get BIS 2 Junior! In Germany My Dear Fellow Bealtaine de Coco took home the Best of Breed rosette.

Over in America Kilkenny’s Granite Aine of Claddagh was BOB at Agathon KC and at Golden Vally it was back to back Best of Breeds for Jeonty Golden Memo.

Many congratulations to everybody!

It has to be the lead in….

Glen of Imaal Terrier people can be so proud that the lead to the “round up” this week just has to be Working News as we have certainly been out and about in that sphere with a vengeance. First Ollie NACSW Nose Work 3 Exterior (NW3-E) Element title on Monday October 19th in Martinsville, New Jersey and with the cooler weather, he was very energetic and eager to find the hidden birch, anise, and clove scents. Then Griffin with NW2 in Griffin. A near miss for Winston with 3 out of 4 elements in NW2 but he was 2nd fastest in vehicle search whilst Tula got 3 out of 4 in NW3. It doesn’t finish there as Niamh earned her PCD Obedience title. That’s Pre Novice, which will be renamed Preferred Novice come Dec 1. Same exercises as for the CD title except the Stay is not with other dogs (how sensible of the AKC.)

Glens have been showing as well with a Group 1 for Abberann Torcan in Valparaiso, a Group 4 for Emerald Isle Keely with Daulton and a Group 2 OH Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette in Washington. Even the babies are at it with a Puppy Group 3 for Gleann Elite Ellie in Finland. At other shows My Dear Fellow Brunhilde de Coco was BOB at Hanover, Gleann Una Noonan took the BOB at Seinajoku International with Gleann Cotton Cody Best Opposite and at Midland Counties Romainville Billy Whizz was BOB with Gleann Maggie May Best Bitch and Boudivella Oscar Best Puppy.

The Autumn Discover Dogs took place at ExCell & Lynn Fraser writes ”

On Saturday there were the following: Sally and Alan Barnaby with Murphy and Whizzer ( an honorary glen)

Sean Percy with Leia accompanied by their friend Lesley

Geraldine and Alan Cook (who sadly lost their Glen earlier in the year) who brought everything down and set up the stand

Gordon and Me with Dylan and Misty and on Sunday Gordon, Misty, Dylan and I were joined by

Kate and Duncan Emms with Daisy and her pup Fergus (6 months)

Beth and Ian Rogers with Basil

Nicki and Richard Montford (without hound, but who were a great help)

Just have to applaud all that news!

Very busy weekend!

When it’s been a busy weekend for Glen of Imaal Terrier people it always difficult to know where to start; the show, the country, the awards and this pass few days has been a biggie. The coin has come down on awards so first up is Kilkenny’s Granite Glen Rooney with 2 Best of Breeds, 2 Owner Handler Group 2s and a group 4 at Souhegan Kennel Club in New Hampshire. Also in America it was 3 BOBs for Coleraine’s Here Comes The Sun at Westchester, Somerset Hills and Tuxedo Park.

At the European Dog Show in Norway the top award went to Gleann Una Noonan with Gleann Bigwig Best Dog. At the Terrier Speciality held with the show Rosears Humpty Dumpty was BOB. Tampere group Show saw Gleann Dynamite Mike with BOB and Balloo Girl Best Opposite. Vantaa All Breed was a ladies event again with Stiubhard Cutie Pie at Gleann taking Best of Breed with Gleann Dynamite Mike Best Dog. Let’s welcome a Polish result (hopefully more will come) with Salangana Sagittarius BOB at Bialystok International

Well done all!!

Over last weekend….

…Glen of Imaal Terrier people were out and about.

At Tervakoski International Show Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed with her son Gleann Dynamite Mike Best Dog. Over in America Ch Ber-D-Mar’s Charm One of Wicklow took the top award and at the Purina Show in St Louis Abberann Torcan added a Group 4 to his growing tally.

On the brains front Dark Lily of Caradoc took her third rally leg so she can now add RN to the CGC at the back of her name.

Congratulations all!!

Let’s do lots!

Glen of Imaal Terrier enthusiasts, followers and owners like to keep out there! At Leeds Championship Show judge Muriel Bailey paid homage to the thing we all know, Glens just get better as they get older, with both Challenge Certificates going to Veterans. It was a welcome to the Upper House as Donvaleset Rebus (subj. to KC confirmation) will now be adding CHAMPION to his name and Jeonty Lola May at Wickholm was awarded the bitch ticket. Gleann Dynamo Man at Jeonty was Best Puppy. The Veteran theme also continued over in Dublin with Abberann Conan, at 10, making a return to the ring to take BOB and his sister Ennya was Best Bitch.

There were three shows in Finland over the weekend and the Gleann affix was very much to the fore. Gleann Una Noonan was Best of Breed twice with Gleann Dynamite Mike taking number 3. The three “Opposites” were Gleann Ungus MacGuire, Rosears Humpty Dumpty and Gleann Curvy Corvette. Gleann may have been in two countries but so was Abberann as Abberann Torcan took a group 3 and group 4 respectively at Great Lakes All Terrier and Waukesha (Wisconsin) respectively. Daulton’s Emerald Green was also a double group placer over the weekend with two Owner Handler Group 3s in Ohio.

And what about the “brains” brigade? Mary Housholder’s Hannah took her first RATO leg and Monique sends the following….if there is room “Oliver had a great time at the NACSW Nose Work Element trial in Woodstock, CT on Saturday. He found all the birch scented hides in 4 separate vehicle searches and earned a Level 1 Vehicle element (L1V) title! It has been an embarrassment of riches lately and I’m so grateful that he still enjoys competing. There were also “brains” going on up in Washington State as Jeff writes “It was a busy weekend for Ciarán (Keadeen’s Blue Boy for Bluesette.)  He spent all day Saturday on a table greeting strangers and representing his breed in the “Celtic Kennels” at the Seattle Highland Games (in Enumclaw, Washington.)  Sunday, to unwind, he went rat hunting. Ciarán qualified in both morning and afternoon trials, earning his RATN title.  He finished with style, winning “high in class” on his second run

Millions of congratulations on a great weekend for the breed

Busy, busy, busy!

It’s a busy catch up day of Glen of Imaal Terrier people and events so keep scrolling! At Southern Counties BOB was the newly crowned Ch Bregorrey Lady Belleisle with Best Dog being awarded to Pajantick Star Trooper, the 2 Reserves being Bregorrey Madam Defiance and Brockland Blackadder at Malsville. Estonian Winners, in obviously Estonia had another BOB for Gleann Una Noonan with Gleann BigWig Best Opposite and Gleann Damn Daisy Best Puppy. At Mänttä-Vilppula BOB was Gleann Cotton Cody and best pup Gleann Dear Dandelion.  Osterbybruk International Rosears Halo was BOB and became an International Champion. McCormac Setna Sithbacc was at Neumuster International and went home with the BOB ribbon. Ann Marie Pember is pleased to report that Kera got her first 2 legs in Barn Hunt (Master Level) and a whole new award for the Whitfield/Brown family with Griff winning the photographic competition run by Rare Breeds Awareness!

Stefanie Blänkner writes: Glen Meeting “Fire & Ice” and Friends in Witten(Germany) at Whitsun 2015. More than 50 Glens and their families took part in our traditional glenmeeting in Witten. It lasted over 2 days and started with a nice walk through the beautiful “Muttental” area. At an old ruin we had a stop to make a big Picture of all Glens. During the walk we passed the river “Ruhr”, where all Dogs used the occasion to drink water or take a short bath. In the afternoon we had the first top point of the day: the Glen Parade! That means that all present Kennels presented their dogs. It was very interesting to see the reationships! After that all Glens had a lot of fun with the dog Rallye. The Rallye is an agility competion just for fun. The next day we started with a grooming presentation to show specially the new puppy owners how to groom and take care of the coat of their Glens. The last competion of our meeting was then the dogracing. All Glens gave their best and a lot of People looked on the racing. All People enjoyed the Weekend with the attractions and the talks about our lovely Glens very much! It was wonderful and we thank all people for coming and our friends fom our Club in Witten, who helped us to organize this event.
